I was always shy and had trouble at the door. I also had trouble trying to force my religion down someones throat if they did not want to hear it. What made matters worst was that after a while I has troubles talking to others about things that I was already starting to question.

Feild service and answering
by shera ini was wondering how you all felt about feild service.. i didn't like it all all,i would have minor anixety attacks and sweaty palms before i went door to door.
i would have a hard time taking a door,so one time,my loving "sister" left me standing at door by myself.i remeber being "happy".
i was very uncomfortable going to peoples door and trying to force religion on them, when they didn't want it.i only went out because it was imbedded in my mind that i had to go door to door to save peoples lives.i didn't want to have blood on my hands of the people i may have helped save with god's words.. with the answering,i almost passed out...lol..i used to be painfully shy.when i didn't answer enough,i would be judged as not being spiritually(sp)strong.the woman i was studing with would try to raise my hand up.the way i looked at it there was no accepting of who you were...had to be like the social butterflies to be accepted.now thats what i call love.

What sold you on the JW faith?
by MYOHNSEPH ini havent posted much here, but ive read a lot for about six months now.
although most everyone here appears to have had some degree of affiliation with the jw organization, the individual posters seem to be from pretty diverse backgrounds.
im really curious about something.

Hello Myohnseph, welcome to the board. It's quite funny actually. It started in my junior year of high school. My best friend and I had a class that was taught by a JW. We found that during class if we asked about the bible, he would stop teaching and answer our questions for the rest of the period. My friend and I were both interested in the bible and were both searching. One day I asked my friend if he would like to look into the JW religion. He laughed and said "Can you imagine us going door to door". Sometime later I approached the teacher after school and told him that I wanted to learn more of his religion. He invited me to his home that night. I arrived that evening on a cold February night. I got out of my vehicle and in the distance I heard another vehicle. To my surprise it was my friend! He had started studying the week before.
The rest is history. I lasted about 4 years before going apostate. My friend became a pioneer soon after high school. 21 years had passed since I saw my friend because of the shunning I lost track of him and several other people I was close to. This passed Summer my old friend tracked me down on the internet and we met again after all those years. The thing was, was that it was a sheparding call because he was now an Elder. Well I guess I will wait another 21 years before I see him again.

This post made me realize that I actually lived 2 separate lives. I was always interested in the bible all my live, so when I became a JW during my mid high school years, I attended meetings and was perceived as being quiet and shy by the others. Some called me anti-social at times because I did not socialize with some of the clicky groups. Outside the hall, such work after school or work after graduation, I never let anybody know that I was a JW. I still drank, swore and sometimes smoked. To the non-JW's I was a typical young adult.

I married a stranger, did you?
by kenpodragon inin my current life i know a lot of people who live together.
some of them might have done this because they do not like marriage, and others have done this as a step towards getting married.
in all, in my post-witness life i find that i have no problem with either view.

Another good post! I look forward to reading them. My girlfriend is from China and we were friends for about 8 years before we started dating. We have been together for an additional 6 years. The language barrier is a bit rough at times and often frustrating but it is fun. I guess the funny part is, is that I taught about the JW's and the Mormons and how to tell them apart. She has a ball with them and will actually make her English harder to understand just to watch them get frustrated and leave. You got to love it!
I'll be waiting for your next post..........Ken

How Are You Percieved By People???

I guess that I can only answer this question by what I am told by others. I am told very often that I am quiet and easy going most of the time. I generally don't speak up much but rather try and analyze things before making a decision. I don't get mad much, but when I do, then look out. I have been known to have a "I don't give a f--k attitiude" and with this have been known to enter a serious situation at work and get everybody laughing at the end.

I looked at this thread earlier this evening and meant to comment then. When I came back I was amazed that several people have already mentioned my eariler thoughts. This is the fact that there is guilt and sometimes people have had to quickly underline their material just so that they would not get shit from others. I usually read anything I could get my hands on, at least what the society said I could read that is. There were others that worked several jobs to support there family and had trouble trying to keep up each week. What always pissed me off was the fact that, at least in my old congragation that is, there were several indiviuals that would look around to see who did not study and make a smart ass comment. Sometimes these same people would gossip in service about such people and say that they are not "strong in the truth". I had also noticed these same individuals would use the brightest high-liter and hold the material at eye level so that the people several rows behind them could see how wonderful they are!

Which meeting was the worst?
by freedom96 ini absolutely detested the watchtower study.
never did an hour go by so slow.
there would the 20 or so paragraphs that had to read and answered, and i would watch the clock.

I actually enjoyed the Sunday morning talks myself. I even looked forward to going to the assemblies now that I think of it. But I think the w.t. was the worst of all. It was so boring sitting through all those stupid comments. I remember it being told to me that the society would always throw in an "odd ball" word each week just so the jw's could increase their vocabulary. What got me was the fact that some people in my old congragation used to use these words as they spoke at the door to try and impress everyone! Hell, they never impressed me.

Hi Valis...
Looks nice! I like the yellow. I was going to by same thing but red. I ended up with Kawasaki 800 Vulcan Cruiser, which was sitting next to it. Don't let anybody tell ya to get a Harley. There are a numbers of biker where I work including one Hell"s Angel member. Those guys are always getting their Harleys fixed or something.
The only problems with bikes Valis are the others driving automobles. You may have heard my bitching before, but I was nailed by a 70 year old guy this past summer. I almost lost my right foot. I will have surgery again next week and should be walking afterwards. Other than that good luck and have plenty of fun!

Vision into the "New System of Things"
by kenpodragon inif john was privy to a vision of this time period in revelations, as the witnesses claim.
then perhaps we could have a vision of what the future would be like if the "new system" actually happened.
i set there in a vision of the night and i looked around me and i was in the calm of days, and all was perfect.
