I have made my decision
by Brother Mike ini'm sure most of you have read bits and pieces of my story throughout the last year being on this site.
i've decided as a human being, and as an adult, i'm going to make the decision on whether to stay with the jw religion or leave it.
i of course have many doubts about the organization which has lead me to do research.

Avoid Going back to the JW's - Educate Yourself about Mind Control
by flipper ini've talked with some good friends on the board about this before and we seem to be in agreement : one reason ( among many ) that some disfellowshipped jw's go back and return to the wt organization is because they are full of uneeded guilt or uneeded fear because they haven't educated themselves about how the wt society uses mind control tactics to deceive them into thinking they have " nowhere else to go " .
i understand that some dfed ones may go back to the organization for family and friends- however- it's an exrecise in futility because once you learn the truth about the truth you cannot undo what you heard.
so some may just go back and live a fake jw life to appease family- but just think of how that can damage a person's emotional and mental health playing the fake jw game the rest of their lives !

I choose freedom from the chains of cult mind-control. Yes, it is sad that families are torn apart. But that is the cards I was dealt in life. I have no regrets about my choice. I built a life seperate from anything JW.

Thanks for posting this. Fantastic!
I was right at this age when I started questioning things in my mind. I was never baptized and I was not going to meetings by the age of 15.
Thank goodness for this wonderful teacher! I hope this girl is able to get out early also. It takes inner strength and determination. No one can do it for you.

Did you ever attend meetings while on vacation?
by keyser soze ini remember when i was a kid going on vacation somewhere with my family, my parents would always have to find out where the local kingdom hall was.
god forbid we should miss a meeting because we were actually enjoying our time away from work and school..

No. Thank goodness my parents were never quite that zealous. We even on a few occasions went to assemblies in "vacation" type spots and skipped a session or 2 to go see some sites.

Circuit Overseer wakes up, packs his bags and leaves!
by Anony Mous ini just heard this about a co i knew back in the day before he was even a co. he must be in his mid-late 40's now, my mother told me the story as she knows the family very well (the entire family has gone 'apostate' including several elders, circuit overseers and missionaries - this was an "example" family, always on the stage etc).. he wasn't 'feeling well' so he took time off from his co duties.
that week he packed his suitcase, told his wife he can't do it anymore and he's leaving, leaves her the car and the house and went to live in a small apartment, bought a small car and a week later got a decent job.. this was very recent so not everybody within the org has heard yet what happened..

Good for him! I wish him all the best! I do not think he will ever regret his decision. The broken relationships are sad but inevitable in this impossible situation.

What is definition of a true friend, once outside the cult?
by suavojr inafter leaving the cult of jw's or waking up to ttatt, it is a struggle to trust people again.
i am personally starting from scratch although i am still in.
each moment i spend with my current jw friends, i know they are all smiles and loving towards me because of my good status with the wt.. outside a cult you still find fake people and it is also a struggle to find true friends and it is even worst when we've been hit hard from people we used to trust and care for.. .

I plan to see it. It looks good to me with a great cast. If nothing else, the story is a great classic from the Bible, a great literary work. I have been out of the JWs so long that I'm not freaked out by Bible stories anymore.
