has anyone, other than me, tried to get your friends/loved ones to prove 1919?.

did they really try to prove it to you or did they write you off as hopelessly lost or somewhere in between?

as some of you are aware, i have been trying to get my wife to prove it to me, and if not her, another believing jehovahs witness.

They usually can't...and they don't care. They're hanging on to their fascist dreamworld and don't want to face the realties of life.

To be able to throw the responsebility of their life unto the Org., the authority have to be unquestionable. "The Greater Good" is manitaining the picture of peace, unity and cleaness, where the elders stands as guardians that "protects" the picture and sort out all that challenges to the image.

Like all fascists, they really do not care about any of the "principles" or teachings they uphold. They care about living in "the good and trouble-free community", whatever that is. If there were a "Religion of the Year Contest", they would go out of their way to win it. THEIR community is the best, and nothing must challenge that.

Sorry. Your wife will not listen, untill she is ready to break out of the safety of the picture she is living in. Things look SO much better, when looking into the magic mirror that changes nightmares into images of flowerfilled poetry. She needs to want to look away. The rest will come from there.

I have seen educated people joining JW. Their problem is not lack of critical thinking, it is lack of social skills.

The WT-teaching is "logical" within its own world, and in many ways it is anti christianity, which appeals to some that are tired of the christian holy claim of having God within them.

Thumbs up for that comment. That is largely the difference between the average christian churches and the JW's (besides theology).

Except, community, network and status still plays a large part. Buisness may also be affected by leaving. There can be many reasons for staying, and faith is often not really one of them.

Now, in Denmark, the JW's have a bad reputation. But when leaving, who should one blame? Leaving the sinking boat, AND explain it all to the "normal" world why they participated. I think people are getting tired of the show...

Leaving is the only option in my book. The close network of JW were build on promises of a promise of Harmageddon. Such a common goal creates a great sense of being united with a common goal, an immensely important project. But Harmageddon did not come, so what then? Now people were addicted to the community and the sense of being closely united and the leaders had an internally status, that would not matter anywhere outside the network. So they just kept going, finding new dates for Harmageddon, new calculations, interpretations aso. That produced the Jehovahs Witnesses. Skisms in JW have been seen before. The dependant people will remain, and new promises will be made. And it will go on once again.

Leave while you mentally and socially can. Staying will mean being addicted to live on a lie, no matter if you are a "Morpheus", a believer or a follower. The Org. may change color like a chameleon, but will remain a reptile.

The BorgLit have ALLWAYS been dumb. WE have gotten wiser.

There is still the matter of organisational control over the crowd, the instillment of paranoia and fear that keeps the wiser (honest) ones discouraged.

It is not just the crowds "needs" for a "network". It is also the ability to "see" it is all rubbish.

I can assure you, I did never did like being a JW, but my "fuse" did blow while trying to make it all fit.

I would guess that by now, around 80% of the JW's in the western world are born-in JW's.

The Governing Body has NEVER claimed to be inspired

there was a recent thread here which covered the subject of the gb claiming to be spirit directed (and not actually inspired by the holy spirit).

by now, most of us are quite aware that this is just a play with words to excuse themselves whenever one of their false doctrines is debunked (by someone using the bible or their own publications).

but when you think of it, spirit-directed is actually more presumptuous than spirit-inspired.. that being said, id really like to draw attention to the fact that the wt continuously claims that the governing body of jehovahs witnesses has never claimed to be inspired by god (through his holy spirit).

There were no "Governing Body" in 55. Those guys appeared in the 70'es.

The article tells about the collective group of "annointed ones" as the organisation, which the "jonadabs" supports.

Now "the organisation"/"collective congregation" also includes "the chiefs" (elders, ms aso.)

Else you are absolutely right.

It is all spin to fool our brains into believing, that nothing is something, and nobodies are somebodies.

If I may add: The Governing Body have taken the place of the holy spirit.

The JW teach perfect unity in mind, spirit and thought - or rather a people that works towards perfect unity.

The role-model is Jesus, who is said to be in perfect unity in mind, spirit and thought with his father, Jehova. Thus, Jesus were perfection.

All others are imperfect beings, that must strife to work toward that unity in mind, spirit and thought.

The "helper" is the holy spirit, the force which brings Jehovas will into action.

The Governing Body claims to be a body of leadership in an organisation, original chosen in 1918 by Jesus.

TGB claim to have been annointed with holy spirit, which enables them to give guidance to the followers, that are in line with Jehovas current will/need according to his longterm plan. (the bible is considered a "letter" to the annointed ones only. Others read the bible to be able to see and acknowledge TGB's authority. So, believing in the bible, means believing in TGB's authority to guide.)

So, when a JW prays for the holy spirit, the trained JW would then search in the litterature to absorb the thoughts and underlying will in the sentrences. Thus they are "raised" by TGB to go towards perfection, a state where the witness accept the "spirits-directed" guidance without resistance, a state where the witness understand the underlying will and let it become his own will. Fail in this, and the elders will come and "help" you, to bring you to the "right" state of mind.

So, "spirit-directed" means the underlying "will" that the leadership as a body "understands". Therefore they claim they are able to interpretate scriptures in order to raise "the flock" to let that "will" become the witnesses own and to "steer the ark" through the waters. It also means, that the organisation have the absolute authority over the trained witnesses lifes.

I call this whole process "spiritual rape". The traumas created are very real.

Nice work. I would add, that there is a premise in the WTS-definitions that most tend to overlook.

Baptism questions:

1) On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?

2) Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization?

Rank-and-file JW's are not part of the organisation. They are working in association with the organisation.

Technically you first become a part of the organisation when you are announced a ministerial servant -> elder -> Circuit Overseer -> aso

What "spirit-directed" means in WTS terms is, that TGB are guided by holy spirit that gives them wisdon to appoint qualified assistants, that again can appoint bethelites, that can apppoint CO's, that can appoint elders, that can appoint ministerial servants aso. (not all accurate order of things, but it is the principle that matters here). So if you are "working against" the organisation/elders, you are working against the holy spirit, which is the only unforgiveable sin.

Or in short: Don't argue with the elders!

"Inspired" would mean that Jehova put words into his servants mouth. Once TGB claimed to be inspired also.
