okay, i don't mean to rant but i am not sure where to turn.
the issues that i am having with my wife are not related to her being a jw but it does make me think of other situations where the religion is credited for the jw spouse's exceptional behavior (even when it has nothing to do with the religion).. my wife has her heart set on going to disney this year, but she has no real plan on saving the money to go.
in addition to this, she needs have some money to replace her lost income over the summer when she takes her internship to get her teacher's license.

if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?
It also disturbs me the way the sister "spoke softly" to Selma. Subtly demonstrating how Christian sisters shouldn't raise their voices to make their points and be submissive. What a horrible article!
i was in the mood today... got the tree cheap (came w/lights), decorations and ribbon for half price and made the bow myself to save money.
i was going to put it aside until after thanksgiving, but couldn't resist completing the project.
i just have to get some fiber fill for "snow" at the base.

We're getting our first tree this year, I'm so excited. I still need to get all the lights and ornaments, but hope to go shopping soon. I planned on making an Advent calender of activities for my little fellas too. So exciting! I loooooooooove Christmas.
I was three the last time I celebrated Xmas, and my oldest is three and it will be his first real Xmas. Full circle moment!
since jehovah's witnesses supposedly have "the truth" and are part of god's visible organization living in a "spiritual paradise" you would naturally expect that they should be the happiest people on earth!
this clearly is not the case.
wha happened?
There was a wonderful woman in my hall 15 years ago who took her life. Her children had recently moved out, and her husband was an MS or elder (can't remember). He was a super nice man too. He was the one who found her...heartbreaking.
They had a funeral for her at the Kingdom Hall, and I remember the elder giving the talk said we're all friends here, but she died thinking she had none. That was the most real thing I heard off the stage. I think about her often. She had such beautiful children, and never got to see her grandchildren.
I also had a friend growing up in the Hall who attempted suicide a few times. She had a horrible home life with an abusive father and the elders encouraged her Mom to stay with him. Thankfully her Mom eventually moved out, and they all have better lives without him in it. I detested when he would be asked to say a prayer at the meetings because I knew he was a horrible person.

hiya and... i do not really know where to begin... currently a jw... slightly starting to fade... got a girlfriend baptised... i am baptised also... my head is a mess... i do not know what to believe anymore... never really fully trusted elders as it comes to 'leading the flock'... got burned a few times with their ... decisions etc.
read a few articles in here about their alleged false beliefs... do not really know what to do... wondered if any of you felt like that at any point... when something that you trusted and followed most of your life... does not seem to be what you thought it was... .
Hi raxxxx, I was in a similar place 2 years ago. I believed this religion 100%, it was all I knew for 26 years of life! I was afraid I was letting Satan fool me too, so I prayed to Jehovah daily to let me know if I was on the right path or not. I also read another Bible translation without the Watchtower goggles on and got a different perspective.
Take your time, read, and pray. Your answer will come to you!
Also, many people feel depressed when they are making huge life adjustments. You are questioning your belief system which is no small thing! I felt like my world shattered, and the foundation my life was built on was a lie. It takes time to rebuild your life, but it sounds like you're at a perfect age to start creating yours. All the best to you!
just wondering how many of us on here are musicians, what we play, and if we had witness bands and/or performed.
i have had quite a few funny moments of being in bands that wanted to be cool, but always had to nerf the edginess of any songs we played and watch the noise!
i played with different elders who loved to rock out, but when they played at a congregation party didn't even want to use overdrive of any kind!
My Dad is an awesome musician! He plays guitar and bass. He loves classic rock, all the stuff JWs couldn't play. He'd be in bands with elders and other JWs and have to play really crummy country music that wasn't controversial. Now that he's not a JW, he's in a regular band and can play music he actually enjoys.
My husband and I are both learning to play guitar...better late then never!
what was your experience like as a kid on halloween growing up in a jw family?.
i was raised in a jw family but never got baptized.. my father used to make me and my sister put old awakes and watchtower's in the trick or treaters' bags.
we would say: "i don't celebrate halloween but here's a treat for you!
I'm sorry your father made you do that. We just had to keep quiet and not turn on any lights. I remember celebrating Halloween before my parents became JWs and I missed dressing up and getting candy.
This year I dressed up as a cat and am taking my little one trick or treating for the first time. We carved a pumpkin too. Being a JW is really a drag, it stifles creativity and individuality.
Please don't be so hard on yourself. It's difficult feeling like you fit in when you've felt like an outcast for most of your life. Many people really aren't all that normal or have it all together like you might think.
so, do any of you ex-jw's partake in any halloween celebrations?
do you give candy to the trick-or-treaters?
do you dress up and go to parties?.
The last time I celebrated Halloween I was 3! Now I have a three year old and it will be his first time trick or treating, carving pumpkins, and watching fireworks. He's going as a pirate, and I'll put on some cat ears.
can someone tell me that i wasnt the only one who was told the story of this avon lady who died because she wasnt protected by angels??
