i have never heard of this group but i turned on the tv and right now (eastern time) there is a show on national geographic called american colony/hutterites and they are shunning members for allowing their children to have more education than they deem neccessary as well as playing school sports.
the group also appears to think they are the only ones going to heaven.. anyone know more about this or have experience with them?

I recently watched that show and found the similarities striking. The Amish: Out of Order on the same channel is also amazingly similar to JWs. The Amish aren't shunned if they weren't baptized, but they are shunned if they were baptized.
It would be interesting if they did a show featuring ExJWs. Seeing differ religions shunning their members and not allowing simple freedoms like playing sports makes me feel less alone.
i am nearly 40 years old and have started a bucket list of things i would like to do before i die.. .
one of them being spending 6months away from my mobile and laptop in a tiny village away from the uk.. .

i see a lot of the same dating issues in the posts i read and even in my own life.. i don't know who would take up the job but it seems like it could be interesting.

Talking is very different from interacting on a social level. Not to mention all I did when I went out in service was try to avoid talking.
I was also a quiet JW who avoided talking too.
This weekend I went to a bar with some friends and totally froze when a guy started talking to me. It was like I went back to the JW mentality of avoiding talking with worldly men in case they're trying to get in my pants or something. Totally clueless and socially awkward.
How does one improve their social skills? I feel like I missed out on 15 years of crucial social development!

i dated someone earlier tonight and she looks pretty good, she invited me over to her home.
she has a very good salary(she has phd degree) but i do not understand why she chose to live in a white trash mobile home park.
i asked her how long she is going to live there, she said she just signed 2 year lease last month.
Maybe she is saving up to buy a nice house. My husband and I rented a crappy apartment for a year so we could save up a down payment and not be in debt. I really wouldn't worry about where she lives, at least she owns a place!

Wha happened - that is so cool you'd go introduce yourself to girls. None of the guys around here would do that, the girls had to pursue them. We're socially stunted.
at first, i thought it was some legitimate cartoon character (disney or such) that the society was putting down as "demonized".. then, i started getting the idea that perhaps (unbelievably) the society had made him up as a negative "teaching device" to warn jw kids about "worldly demonism".... can this possibly be true?.
surely not even the wtbts could be that stupid!!!.

some where along the path of life the wt guilt trip was dumped on our marriage and we havent had sex for years.. anyone else?
the hearts and flowers and gifts and doing the cleaning, the house work and paying the daily accounts never being drunk on drugs playing the horses or screwing others yep its all there but nothing coming back due to the wt guilt trip.. they made so much of 'oral sex' and 'pornea' incorrectly quoted at that and ventured thereby into areas they were patently very ill equipped to comment on.
