  CO visit soon. Haven't been to meetings for a few weeks.

  it's been a few months since i've been out in service and almost a month of no meetings.

  the co is visiting soon and i'm already paranoid enough about random stops by elders (although this hasn't happened yet).

  should i worry when the co is here?.

  You might get a phone call to remind you of the CO visit, but you can let them leave a message and not answer. They only started hounding me after I missed a few months of meetings, but I'm baptized. I've never been happier, despite the fear I will get DF'd and ruin my relationship with my husband and inlaws. Freedom is a wonderful thing.

  If possible, I would unlist your phone number, and then avoid answering the door and they should leave you alone. If they catch you outside on the weekend, just let them know you're busy and tell them to have a good day. They don't have anything on you.

  have you noticed that the recent trolls are now claiming that if anybody drew conclusions or made decisions based on what the society was printing, it was their own fault?.

  kind of "we didn't force you to believe what we said or adjust your life because of it.

  you chose to think we were teaching the end would come in <insert time range>".

  Just feeling a little down in the dumps tonight...

  ...though i guess the reasons why are silly.

  in a sense, but it makes me wonder on what's to come in the future.. i hate it this time of the year with a wife in the cult who's been taught not to celebrate christmas.

  my company is having a holiday party and she agreed to go to one but because we were also bought out and some of us are leaving and moving on, someone decided to have another one with just the employees of our company alone.. i wanted to go to that one too, but i did not want to go alone.

  Hang in there Gary. My husband won't even go to an "end of the year party" even though witnesses who own companies throw them for their employees. They demonize everything.

  Maybe you could ask your wife if she would only go to the second party instead, if that's the one that will mean the most to you. It would be nice to say goodbye to your fellow workmates. Is it more of a retirement party? You could try and angle it that way maybe? Good luck!

  okay so when i was talking with the brothers, somehow they got me to agree to come up with a list of jw teachings i don't agree with.

  for some reason the po gave the number as "12".

  don't ask me why he came to that conclusion.

  Looks great! How about the teaching where they said they don't baptize in the name of any man or organization, but now they do?

  "We do not dedicate ourselves to a religion, nor to a man, nor to an organization. No, we dedicate ourselves to the Supreme Sovereign of the Universe, our Creator, Jehovah God himself.   what flipflops caused you to think?

  while posting on another thread, i thought of this.

  for me, it was the "we never said you couldn't go to college" flipflop in the mid 1990s.

  when ofc we all know that to be an utter lie.. now that i think about it, their literature is written with future flipflopping mind.

  The latest generation change. It raised a major red flag, and made me question why Jehovah was causing his organization to keep changing its mind. Then I realized they conveniently did away with the 1935 sealing of the anointed as the number of memorial partakers kept going up.

  I can't really seek professional help. Any self-help suggestions for depression?

  i really don't have the time or the finances for a professional psychiatrist.

  i know i am depressed and i know why.

  the problem, as i have said before in one or two other threads, is that the solution won't really change my depression and may, in fact, make it worse.. so i am resigned to being depressed but would like to know if there are some coping techniques or other suggestions.

  I went to a counselor and they recommended reading this book: Feeling Good by David Burns

  You can usually find it at used book stores or the library. It's a lot to read, but it may help.

  I found it very helpful to talk to someone, and I hope you can find someone to talk to as well who doesn't charge too much.
