  How many of you would have let your child die over the blood issue?

  i knew and planned, that if it came to that, i would close the door and tell the doctor to use blood to save my child and let god kill me for it if needed.

  .

  i lacked faith that we were 100% right i guess so i couldn't take that risk.

  I knew as soon as I held my baby that there was no way I would ever let him not have a transfusion if that meant saving his life. Before I stopped going to meetings I even told my doctor that I changed my mind about blood and would take it and allow my child to have it even if my husband opposed.

  The reasoning that certain blood fractions were ok, but whole blood was not made no sense to me. And the generation change was the last straw that pushed me out the door.

  For all those who no longer believe the blood doctrine, make sure you change your information at the hospital and with your doctor.

  Last year Whole Foods also surrendered to Monsanto. Why?

  Whole Food's Dirty Little Secret: Most of the So-Called "Natural" Processed Foods and Animal Products They Sell Are Contaminated with GMOs

  The main reason, however, why Whole Foods is pleading for coexistence with Monsanto, Dow, Bayer, Syngenta, BASF and the rest of the biotech bullies, is that they desperately want the controversy surrounding genetically engineered foods and crops to go away. Why? Because they know, just as we do, that 2/3 of WFM's $9 billion annual sales is derived from so-called "natural" processed foods and animal products that are contaminated with GMOs. We and our allies have tested their so-called "natural" products (no doubt WFM's lab has too) containing non-organic corn and soy, and guess what: they're all contaminated with GMOs, in contrast to their certified organic products, which are basically free of GMOs, or else contain barely detectable trace amounts.

  Unprecedented wholesale and retail control of the organic marketplace by UNFI and Whole Foods, employing a business model of selling twice as much so-called "natural" food as certified organic food, coupled with the takeover of many organic companies by multinational food corporations such as Dean Foods, threatens the growth of the organic movement.

  Prelude to a disfellowshipping

  i was 25 years a congregation member; ten years an elder; all told, up to 18 years an appointed man; a decade or so as a full-time minister; assembly speaker, with the pinnacle giving the public discourse at a district convention.. .

  i stopped being an active member of the congregation in november 2010, but it had been brewing for several years, with the customary gradual drifting away - all the necessary mental gymnastics as my spiritual views changed and doubts set in; quitting the theocratic ministry school; ceasing to answer; sitting quietly off to the side.

  i think the straw that broke the camels back was when family worship inevitably became family worship.

  For those of you who inactive, but not officially DFd/DAd, how do you manage?

  i read with interest the thread about how people who are mentally out yet still attend (some) meetings manage to do continue to do it and it got me wondering, how do those of us who are completely inactive, no longer practicing members of the faith, manage to pull off our new ex-jw life, yet never invite scrutiny or investigation from former friends, elders, etc.. take me, for example.

  i've been out several years now, but have never officially renounced my faith.

  i've never out and out called it a crock of shit to anyone who could make real trouble for me.

  I am so fortunate that my immediate family are all out of the religion now, and we were the only JWs in our entire family. However, my husband's immediate family are all hardcore witnesses and his Dad recently became an elder which will make things more interesting.

  We were pestered by witnesses on an almost monthly basis when we first stopped attending meetings and tried avoiding them at the door. Now they only stop by around Memorial time. Recently a sister came and I thought it was the mail lady and answered the door. She was very pleasant and told me she knew things must be "up in the air" for me. I'm not quite sure what she meant by that, but she returned a few days later with her elder husband and I didn't answer the door.

  We celebrate holidays now, we just don't put up decorations because JWs frequently drive by our home. One day I'd like to move just to be totally free of their control. If it wasn't for my inlaws, I wouldn't care if I was found out. I'm sure they will discover our secret sooner or later and disown us, but for now we are trying to avoid that as best we can by not being too obvious.

  We had distanced ourselves from our JW "friends" before we faded. And we don't mention anything about the religion to the ones who occasionally talk to us.

  My heart goes out to all those whose families are still in and are experiencing shunning.

  I am going to have Acupuncture for my depression - anyone done this??

  i spent a fortune on transactional analysis in the early 90's.

  dont regret one penny of it.. i have had a paralysing depression now for about two years.

  i cant write, dont enjoy my job anymore, and uninterested generally.recently i have even started saying "jehovah let me die" as i get into bed.. i considered going down the counselling route.

  dear friends,.

  it has been a long time since i have posted.

  time heals much pain, and finally, my family and i have been able to move on with our life outside of jw land.. many of you became our friends, our support system, and you know very well our exit story...we were labeled, slandered and disfellowshipped for having questions regarding the date 607. we sent out letters exposing the elders and circuit overseer to over 200 families.
