  Divorced Atheist ex-JW Dad

  i just wanted to chime in as a loving atheist father, divorced to a jw, and what plays as far as educating our children.. we have shared custody but the kids are mainly with their mom - 11 and 14 respectively.. the problem i face is keeping a balance for my children.

  i have turned atheist during our marriage, so my ex didn't have the spiritual support she signed up for anymore.

  i can understand it is not easy.

  You sound like a great Dad. Perhaps by compromising and allowing your children to have a JW education now, your ex wife will be open to your children pursuing further education in the future. That is the only thing I regret about being raised a JW, the lack of further education.

  Interesting read! It's nice to learn why some people are the way they are. Both my parents were from dysfunctional families, and that explained a lot.

  That was so disturbing it turned my stomach to read about those monsters. I have a 3 year old and 15 month old, and to imagine someone violating these children and taking their innocence breaks my heart. the only justice would be to banish them to an island and let them die there.

  Also, good for those who are working to catch these criminals! That would be difficult to have to go through all the evidence.

  I was a straight A student, but only managed a C+ in Math. It is a subject I never understood, but wish I did. Somehow I always came up with weird answers, and my teachers would wonder how the heck I came to that answer. I admire people who are great at math though.

  Protesters at conventions / assemblies...

  first off, i can happily say that this year i did not attend a single day at this years district convention.. on saturday during the convention, my wife asked me to drop her off after lunch and later pick her up when the convention was over.

  while i was dropping her off, i noticed a single individual holding picket signs protesting the convention.

  it said things like, "was the ransom sacrifice worth it?

  I think signs with jwfacts would be more effective too. If there was a sign that said "Two Witness Rule Protects Pedophiles" I hope I would have been curious enough to take a look.

  Most witnesses feel like they are being persecuted by Satan when protestors show up. There was a group of protestors outside our convention who showed up every year, but people dismissed them as being "not all there," and thought they were lying about being molested. :(
