My adorable 5 year son explaining the meaning of life
by jwfacts ini asked my son quite randomly before bed what he thinks the meaning of life is.
like always, his answer brought a smile to my face.
he said, "to have a great time .. to have fun and have friends ... and be happy.

Me too! I love dark chocolate. I buy a giant bar of President's Choice extra dark chocolate and eat at least a square a day. :) I also like the Lindor truffle balls.
Lisa- what a sweet story! Those must be great brownies.

I just read a book called "Marry Him, the Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough." Even though you're a guy, it might be interesting to skim through it for the online dating tips which seemed pretty useful. The lady in the book is 40 and single. She hired a dating coach, goes to meet guys at speed dating events and online and is having difficulty because all the guys are getting snatched up.
Don't worry about your lack of dating history, it won't be problem for the right person. Get yourself out there and you'll find someone soon enough!

Categories of Former Jehovah's Witnesses
by neverendingjourney ini was never disfellowshipped, but it's been about 10 years since i was an active jw.
i've made an occasional meeting or half-day at an assembly here or there, strictly at the behest of family (maybe once a year), but i'm completely disconnected.
more importantly, mentally i'm 100% free.. we all have a tendency to project our views and beliefs onto others, and tending to believe that other former jws share our views is no different.

I was also in Group 4. I believed in the religion 100% and was totally lost once I realized TTATT. After a couple years of major depression, therapy, and visiting this forum, things are really looking up!
For all those who feel lost, or like life has no meaning, hang in there. Life really will get better, it just takes time.

My brother in law joined last year. He's 35 and has never been a JW or religious. He really enjoys the people there, and most are older gentlemen. It gives him something to do in a small town.
i thought the Masons were just a Fraternal Order, like the Eagles or Lions Cub? Maybe a bit more quirky. :) A lot of businessmen in our city are Masons.
Whatever group you find, enjoy! It's nice being able to give back to the community and make new friends.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. It sounds like you have been through so much, I can only imagine. You are a strong and beautiful woman, and I hope that you can seek some more counseling to help support you on your journey. <3

Hubby's going to the big meeting instead of celebrating our anniversary
by KariOtt inmy hubby just informed me that he wants to attend the "big" meeting saturday instead of celebrating our anniversary.
seems i was right when i accused him that the cult means more to him than i do.
asshole.

That is awesome! JWs can be seriously brainwashed. A few years back my husband felt like he should go to the assembly even though my Grandpa was dying. I asked him why wouldn't he stay and support me, and thankfully he realized what was truly important (not the assembly!). JWs have a bunch of "shoulds" they feel are necessary to keep up appearances. It is nice your husband can be balanced.

Parody of Memorial Song - 7 verses just means perfection
by sd-7 in--my wife has this as a ringtone on her cell phone, so i can't get the darn song out of my head.
thus, i had no choice but to lampoon it.
in order to do so perfectly, i knew that making seven verses--rather than six, which would be handling the matter imperfectly--was not only necessary, but wise.

sd-7 - those darn mp3s Kingdom maladies.
OMG! That game looks amazing! I occasionally dust off the old NES or SNES to play Zelda. Those were the only Nintendo systems we had, so I didn't get to play any later games. But now I know what I want for Xmas. :)
That Leeroy Jenkins thing was funny! I looked it up, lol.
My parents weren't against any Nintendo games, but I did have to stop watching "Today's Special," where a department store mannequin magically came to life. Sounds perfectly logical to me.

This is awesome! I enjoy reading your parodies of songs and WT articles.
Where on earth does one get a kingdom melody ringtone? Sorry you have to hear that. :/
(I also love your avatar! Zelda was my favorite game...I even had it as a ringtone. Nerd alert!)
