Tips for a Slow Fade

Hi Huxley,

A lot of good advice here on this Forum.

Think of this place as your long lost village........ filled with people who are or have shared your concerns about life after being in the JW world. We are all on our own personal Journey away from a false truth.

So what replaces that so called truth? Some of us want to keep God and Jesus in our lives. Some become Buddhists....... lol.

For me....... I am a secular humanist.

Here's what that means: Secular Humanism also has high standards of ethics, but without deities, or a belief in an afterlife. Secular Humanists stand by verifiable truths and the scientific methods."

Volunteering has been mentioned as a pathway away from your normal JW life.

You find a group of people who meet regularly to accomplish something good for their community or nature , the welfare of humans and or animals.

You look for a volunteer position that is attractive to you. You meet on a regular basis and you learn who is who and who you'd like to get to know better.

Just like joining a new K H and making new friends.

In my book there are three ways to walk away from this religion.

Stop showing up, don't meet with any Elders, keep your mouth shut. Do not try to explain your position to any one who can spill the beans to the Elders. Drop your JW friends and develop new relationships.

Let's remember what an Elder is.......... usually an uneducated person who is not really skilled in anything that pertains to the journey you are on.

What is a Circuit Overseer? A company manager, a representative of a phony religion. He always sides with the Society.

Or you can say " I am dealing with a few issues and praying to Jehovah who is helping me get through these issue's....pray is working...... thanks for your concern........ I will let you know if I need your help."

Or you can use a hammer and say..."I have recently read accounts of the JW pedophile issue that has been acknowledged by the Society. I am going to wait on Jah to fix this issue".

Fading out during the pandemic?

given the current world situation with the covid-19 pandemic and so many social distancing, staying at home and self quarantining.

all meetings are currently being held on zoom assemblies and conventions are viewed via the website .

this is the perfect time to fade-out and you probably won’t even be noticed!

I'd be a bit reserved to question family member's beliefs. They need to ask their own questions....not yours.

It's a long wait and unfortunately many family members never ask.

On the other hand this is a perfect time to share your generosity....... making sure your close family is not left out in the cold as JW's tend to do with inconvenient believers........ if they are not firm believers you may, with kindness, show them you care....even if the congregation doesn't.

There's nothing like being scorned and guilted by people who totally believe they have the Truth but don't offer anything your family may need.

i was a jehovah's witnesses for 15 years (1983-1998) in pietermaritzburg and durban, south africa.

i was baptised in 1985; appointed a ministerial servant in 1987 (aged 21); refused military service on religious grounds in 1989 (served a three year community service sentence) and was appointed an elder in 1993 (aged 26).

i wrote to the governing body in brooklyn four times between 1992-97, respectfully questioning the nonsense they were publishing about science and evolution (you can see all my correspondence and their hilarious replies here: http://bit.ly/jw-md-letters ).

Kosonen you choke on the so called 'truth' re the great flood. Your like a child playing with toys. Here's the Ark....... here's the animals and people and I have to fit them in the Ark.

Let's get serious because there are consequences to some beliefs. The misnamed Jehovah (a made up name by a Catholic Monk in the 13th century).

if he actually did ... as per your belief.....drown everyone on the planet..... because your Jehovah had a total hissy fit because of the wickedness of the worlds population......... what do you make of His drowning every person not on the Ark and every innocent animal not on the Ark?

Of course the Great Flood is total bull shit......... but leaving that bull shit as a possible reality.......... how do you justify what god accomplished with that so called 'Great Flood'.

He rid the earth of wicked people? So how long after the Flood did the wicked world reset itself?

You can pick any era and you'll find wicked people...... so God did not accomplish anything. Yes there was this Nephilim situation but apparently some of them survived according to the Bible.

But lets go to a real issue. Not only did God drown the adults he drown the unborn and the little children. When do you declare a little child or unborn child wicked?

Of course as the story goes God can see the future and knew it was all going to be wicked again and worse. So what kind of mental genesis was God? Apparently a fool on a fool's errand.

Now here's two observations:

The flood changed nothing in world history re wickedness.

God drowned the unborn along with every person....... man, women and child who were not on the Ark. The unborn? Why? Oh yeah they were going to turn out to be wicked.

Have you ever noticed in the old Testament that God hate's children?

Why didn't God send his son down to kill the actual bad people pre flood? Jesus and his army of angels could have destroyed every bad actor on a selective basis. Set an example of God's wrath on sinners.

You answer these questions without mumble jumbo bullshit and your simple beliefs fly out the door........ The answer was and is..... there was no Flood, there is no god, no Satan........heaven or angels........... it's all a Myth of epic proportions designed for fools.

History from that time to this time is recorded and the great flood story doesn't emerge.

Black Lives Matter—Do You Agree With Their Philosophy?

i think blm is a racist group.

if white people pushed an agenda saying white lives matter, some people would have a conniption..

The WT Society....... is proud of having 36 to 37% black members or members of color but makes sure those members are not often part of the Bethel family and seldom Elders.We have had just one black brother on the GB....... for ever.

Before Civil rights became the law of the land........ in the USA JW's kept separate from the black brothers and sisters in the South.

They called each other brothers and sisters but they kept their distance.

Racism is racism... it's easy to see.

In love with disfellowshipped JW

i started dating a coworker who is a divorced jw.

found out he was disfellowshipped, and he was trying to figure out how to make things work.

i am not a jw, and his family is not supportive of the relationship.

This is always a difficult situation....... meaning to have one mate clinging to the JW religion for 'family' and the other mate not being a JW. Sorry Amberlou...... he needs to invest his love and good intentions in you first and foremost.

If your guy can't shake loose of this religion he will never function in 'normal mode' .....he will be back tracking and will never emerge as his own person.

You can't create a loving and supportive life if his beliefs run counter to what you would consider normal.

The following is what you need to know:

Number one........ This old world is going to experience a massive destruction of over 8 billion plus people who are not JW's. That's what the JW's believe. They can't wait for Armageddon which is a foundation stone in their belief. So basically it's a death cult........ not for loyal JWs but for everyone else....... like you and me. My children and grandchildren.

Should you be in a car accident or have a terrible illness your husband will refuse to allow you to have a life saving blood transfusion.

How many JW's have died because they believed in the ban on blood?

Thousands since 1945 each and every year. Does any other religion prevent a blood transfusion? .....No.

We lost two close family members....... my wife's mother and my sister. Trust me on this one....... been there...... experienced it.

Remember Jonestown? Drinking the kool aid? Over 1,000 of Jim Jones followers, including over 300 children,died for whatever reason. Yes he was demented but so are the JW's. Each and every year a thousand or two or three thousand JW's die because of their misunderstood belief.

At it's core the JW religion is as insane as Jonestown was.

This is just the start of what's wrong with being a JW.

J. W's Are Afraid of Old Literature

i'm reading babylon the great has fallen, god's kingdom rules, published 1963. this was studied years ago when i was about 10-12 years old.

i wanted to just read some of the beliefs from decades ago.

my wife wants to know why i'm reading this book.

I've always thought that the WTBT Society was a lot closer to being akin to Amway then the bible.

The products we had to offer always had an invisible expiration date.

"Do not continue to believe in or use this particular product as it could damage your health. However we regret that refunds are not available. We can assure you that we will continue to get our shit together....praise Jah......."

I turned down numerous positions. This was in the middle 1960's.

After High School I pioneered....... same boring old congregation....... same neighborhoods in field service. So I decided to make a change and pioneer where the need was great.

I went from a large NY City congregation to a rural area in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Within a week I was asked to give my public talk all over the circuit as my new congregation had only one mature ex missionary servant holding everything together.

Since he was the only brother qualified I was urged to continue pioneering, give my weekly public talk until we had 'paid' back those congregations who had sent their speakers to us.

I also became the assistant presiding minister and the Ministry School servant. I filled in other positions as needed.

I courted my future wife....... a 'casual' JW and served for three years...... until enough became enough and we wanted to experience real life. Get some advanced education. Do something with our lives other then knock on doors.

When we moved back to my Mother's home we presented as active JW's and we tried out a couple of Kingdom Halls where I had a fair number of friends.

It was during this time that I was recruited to take on various positions. Ones that I had already served in. I danced around the offers and postponed even joining a congregation.

A year went by while I finished a Trade school and could find a job. We moved out of my JW mother's house and we were free and clear of being a JW. Never took any position in any congregation......never even joined or attended a meeting in any congregation.

We were going to live free and clear.

And we did.

My parents died from the corona virus

both my 84 yr old jw father and my never my jw mother 82 with both together died from the the corona in 24 hours of each other.

i can tell many fighting i have had here in the last 20 years.on this site .

i juy hope they rest in peace.

Why Do You Think People Become Jehovah’s Witnesses?

I came in without a choice at age 12. My Mom was all about not dying......she and her close family would survive Armageddon and live forever. Sounded OK to me.

My sister died for want of a blood transfusion. My mother-in-law died for want of a blood transfusion needed to prepare her for a much needed open heart surgery.

My wife and I left the religion because of four things, Armageddon which was utter nonsense, the resurrection utter nonsense, the ban on blood the dumbest teaching the Society still pushes. And it's one of the most boring religions ever.

What's to like or be inspired by?

I read this blood issue thing during another discussion on this forum and it cracked me up........ It's one of the truest things I've heard.

The HLC...... Hospital Liaison Committee All male JW's will counsel you to not accept a life saving blood transfusion and there-by lose everlasting life.

The same three idiots who counsel you will be outside the hospital washing the windows.

Become and stay a JW at your own risk.

Why do the Elders stress the importance of meeting attendance....

why do the elders always stress to the rank and file members of the congregation how important meeting attendance is, as well as the importance of always paying attention to every word that's being presented from the slave?

but then, during the meeting, they rarely sit and pay attention themselves to the wonderful spiritual banquet being presented?

they always seem so busy, don't they?
