  is the watchtower trying to copy churches of christendom?

  what does the bible says about that?

  They love to slip in the word 'special'. What exactly does it mean to be a servant of Jehovah's Witnesses, either you are a JW or you are not.

  when asked who was the wisest man, socrates said, "i know one thing, that i know nothing".. i can definitely say that what i thought was immutable truth 25 years ago is not what i now believe.

  the older i get, the less certain i am of what is definitely true.. ageing and life experience teaches us in the end that we really know nothing.

  life is very humbling.. do you agree with socrates?.

  How to handle it when a JW gives you "counsel" about some stupid crap

  there is a catch-22 that can trip you up at the local kingdom hall.. .

  if you receive "counsel" from an elder about any behavior at all and you "resist" or question the counsel you can be accused of having a "spirit of rebellion".. .

  so, you have to either shut up and comply (with even the most ludicrous and ill-founded suggestions) or answer back and be chastised and "marked".. .

  They spend plenty of time bragging about their beautiful theatre and how they have spent resources doing it up. Makes you wonder what they are in the business of doing and how important it is for them to posses expensive worldly goods.

  A poster (Wodzz) on another forum makes a very good point about this. With their new light they have now announced the delay of the Master. Originally they said the FDS had been appointed the FDS over all his belongings on his return. They have now delayed his returned by announcing this has not yet occurred.

  Matt 24:48 "But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming'"

  i almost missed this in my last post, but i just realized how important and must list it.

  paragraph 14 from jan 15, 2010 wt last article entitled "jehovah's way of ruling vindicated".

  "a few anointed members of "the israel of god" still remain, and as jesus' brothers, they continue to act as "ambassadors substituting for christ (2 cor 5:20) they have been appointed as a faithful and discreet slave class to care for and provide spiritual food for annointed ones and a growing crowd of christians, who now include millions having the hope of living on earth forever.

  Well spotted EOM.

  I agree with Sir's post where he says

  "Of course, the writing style is muddled so that it's easy to get confused. I think they do it on purpose, so people have a tendency to not think too deeply about it and say "Well, they're deeper thinkers than we are, so they must have it right!"

  It will be interesting to see what other 'new light' they create following their full indoctrination of the new FDS.

  There must be something more significant in their idea of elevating the other sheep from belongings to domestics. I've been wondering if they will also move them into becoming God's sons/ body of christ/children of God/congregation of God/part of spiritual Israel etc. This will mean that Jesus is their mediator. This will also allow them much more freedom in writing so as to draw the other sheep's relationship to God in a much more personal and binding way and therefore into their own clutches.

  The Watchtower article 2010 7/15 states

  "....This royal government is made up of Christ Jesus and his 144,000 corulers, most of whom have received their heavenly reward. In the book of Revelation, these chosen ones are portrayed as “the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” (Rev. 21:1, 2, 22-24) Just as earthly Jerusalem was the seat of government in ancient Israel, the New Jerusalem and her Bridegroom make up the government of the new system of things. This celestial city will ‘come down out of heaven’ by directing its attention to the earth...."

  So here they state that the anointed are New Jerusalem, being only the seat of government of spiritual Israel.

  Templejah, your reply is very much appreciated. It has been ages since I've read something on this level that came from a persons heart with so much deep spiritual insight.

  You've given me new points on which to continue to meditate regarding the whole meaning and purpose of Jesus' sacrifice. I've printed it out for this reason.

  We can speculate as much as we like about the new heaven and new earth but as you say, it is impossible for us to comprehend fully.

  How do I disprove "New Light"?

  i currently am a jw and my parents are too.they seem either confused or dislike it when i raise questions and recently, when i questioned them about 1925 and 1975, i've been told it's changed due to "new light.

  " i don't remember nor do i have very much knowledge of "new light.".

  this "new light" just dosen't sit with me and neither do the false prophecies.new light first of all, breaks a scripture in deut.

  as accurate truth when it came out, and then this newly updated meaning is to be viewed as completely accurate truth now. Since none of the updates

  follow the thought-line of its previous teaching, it cannot be said that the updates are a “brighter” or “more precise” understanding; in reality these are all

  different viewpoints on the same Scripture, not a progression of details borne from an original understanding.

  So basically, even to consider a previous teaching as 'old light' is incorrect on the basis that it wasn't 'light' to begin with.
