  Still Waiting For the Governing Body To Explain Their “New Light”

  regarding the governing bodys new light relative to matthew 24:45-47, anointedjw.org recently said the following:.

  this new light certainly poses a problem for the governing body.

  perhaps this is another reason why they have not yet published a sober and scriptural xplanation of this new light.

  I think you're right theoldhippie, it is likely that they could have a series of talks about it just as they did at the general meeting. What better way to do it by having a series of talks about themselves at the assemblies. I can already hear the cheers and the praise.

  Someone suggested that they are testing out their website by presenting this new teaching on there, it is a way of seeing how readily the r&f are using it.

  From the feedback we get here, it is amusing to see how many JWs believed already that the FDS was the GB only. What seems to have gone completely over their heads is all the other changes that have been made to this parable. For example, that the domestics now include the r&f , that the return of Jesus has been postponed to a future date, that the FDS has not been put in charge of Jesus' belongings and this is for a future date. There are a number of other ramifications that needs to be dealt with as well.

  They keep flip flopping about their view on divorce. Some articles allow for divorce on the same grounds as separation but only allow remarriage on the grounds of fornication. The lateast Awake article only allows divorce on the grounds of fornication.

  DIVORCE AND SEPARATION

  ... Sexual infidelity by a mate is the only ground for a divorce that will allow the innocent mate to remarry.

  In addition, the Bible’s words at 1 Corinthians 7:10-16, while encouraging marriage mates to stay together, allow for separation. Some, after trying very hard to preserve their marriage, feel they have no choice but to separate. What can be acceptable Scriptural grounds for such a step?

  One is willful nonsupport. When getting married, a husband assumes the responsibility of providing for his wife and children. The man who willfully fails to provide the material necessities of life “has disowned the faith and is worse than a person without faith.” (1 Timothy 5:8) So separation is possible.

  Another is extreme physical abuse. So then, if a mate physically abuses his wife, the victim may separate. (Galatians 5:19-21; Titus 1:7) “Anyone loving violence [God’s] soul certainly hates.”—Psalm 11:5.

  Another ground for separation is the absolute endangerment of a believer’s spirituality—one’s relationship with God. When a mate’s opposition, perhaps including physical restraint, has made it impossible to pursue true worship and has imperiled the believer’s spirituality, then some believers have found it necessary to separate.*—Matthew 22:37; Acts 5:27-32.

  However, if divorce is pursued under such circumstances, one would not be free to enter a new marriage. According to the Bible, the only legitimate ground for divorce that permits remarriage is adultery or “fornication.”—Matthew 5:32.

  all of this is code for: one who is not ready to really study and accept how the leadership of jehovah's witnesses use the bible to their own self serving means.

  but to be fair, jw's teach that most all of these characters refer to the leadership of jehovah's witnesses, the governing body.

  That is a very powerfull opening post ATJ.

  It is so sad to see what the GB are doing.

  I learned that within the GB world view, it is scriptural to be nutty about anything the WT says, but to leave your brother cold and miserable and naked if they disagree with a teaching or doctrine.

  this is what the wts is doing by selling out of brooklyn.

  would it not make a lot more financial sense to become landlords in one of the hottest rental markets in the world?.

  There is a difference between a personal judgement of whether Coco is acting in a christian manner and whether the WTBTS thinks she is. Looking at this from a purely WTBTS viewpoint it would be very surprising if they continue to allow her to be considered a JW. I agree with Smiddy, their publications would not support this. At the very least, it is likely she would be marked. I guess it just depends on which elders are shepherding her.

  Former Bethelites, please settle this argument

  i was recently talking to a friend that's a former jw, and she argued that there are just as many women that live at bethel as there are men.

  admittedly, we're both slightly ignorant on the subject, since neither of us have actually lived at or even visited bethel.

  i've made the assumption that there are significantly more men than women at bethel, am i correct?.

  There is the occassional female worker but usually they has some special qualifications.

  I visited the Head Office many years ago and we enjoyed a lunchtime meal there and the blokes definately outnumbered the females probably 10 to 1, this was in the early 80s.

  If this is a warm up to 'new light' then why won't they admit their misunderstandings now. They did not need to come up with a new interpretation and they shouldn't do that in a hurry anyway. But if they know now that some interpretation is wrong then they should be admitting to it straight away. That is what an honest, humble and moral person would do.
