we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.

fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.

i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

YouTube... the best place to awaken JWs

it's clear that dubs in general eventually forget to heed the counsel of the wt as regards viewing spiritually "dangerous" material on the internet.

this is evident by the thousands of uploaded videos of assemblies, conventions, caleb videos, kh weddings, kingdom melodies, etc.

that can be found on youtube and other similar sites.

Thanks for the prompting Calebs A. There are a number of videos presented by the JWs themselves. I made a few comments on one a couple of weeks ago and just recieved a reply, much to my surprise as I thought that my comments would be deleted. I wasn't going to reply as I thought it was a waste of time until I read your post.

A lot of the JW video's have the comments disabled which doesn't say much for themselves but rather tends to substantiate the idea that they are a cult.

My chat with 2 Dubs yesterday about UN membership

i live close to a resonanbly busy street, 20 odd shops banks, a train station,a couple of cafes and coffee shops etc and usually see dubs doing street work close to the station and i'm now on nodding terms with an elder who is out most days of the week and have got close to recognizing most of the hard core of about a dozen of them , i was walking out of the cafe yesterday to be greeted by a couple of newbies i'd never seen before , a scruffy short dumpy man and a fairly well presented middle aged lady, i'll try and abridge the conversation as best as i can, we must have chatted for about 15 minutes and it was all in a good mannered style;.

me " have you sold many of those this morning ?".

jw guy " oh no we dont sell them we give them away for free" (like i didn't know that).

Justlookingfornow, I should have known that you're not bored at topix but I do believe you are those posters I mentioned. Your talk can be as tricky/sneaky as the organizations at times.

Let's have a look at that letter the organization wrote. It's by some section called the Chariman's Committee, whoever they are but anyway part of it states

"Still, the criteria for Association of NGO's - at least in their latest version - contain language that we cannot subscribe to. When we realized this, we immediately withdrew our registration. We are grateful that this matter was brought to our attention."

They seem to be acknowledging that it was not just the latest version of the criteria that they could not subscribe to, so what other 'versions' could they not subscribe to? What part of the criteria could they not subscribe to and why? How did they realize that they could not subscribe to certain criteria? When exactly did they realize they could not subscribe to certain criteria? They do point out that they only realized it immediately before they withdrew their registration but it in no way explains how they came to that realization other than the fact that their association was publicly announced in the paper. Therefore was it only then that they did some research of their own paperwork and hadn't read it with proper understanding prior to this?

Are they prepared to make available the paperwork they have or had, including the forms they completed, on this matter even to questioning JWs?

That is purely an assumption that you and other's conclude. It is not what the org said and you are trying to draw to much out of their very short public statement.

The fact is the org are saying very little about their association.

They committed themselves to "educate the world about the aims and purposes of the UN....." This committment was not with God or from God, it was voluntary and they were serving the UN in meeting the requirements that the UN had placed on them. They allowed the UN to place those requirements on them. In other words they were serving this man made organization with all it's political objectives.

page 8 of the latest wt (insider version) has a whole page dedicated to the question whether it is appropriate to sit next to a disfellowshipped child at meetings.. not sure how to paste this in, but check jw.org.

perhaps someone can do this for me.. horrible, no words really on how pharisee like their cult grip and control has become!.

first of all, without any shame they are talking about disfellowshipped minors.

It is hard to understand why the JWs allow a df'd person to participate in their most sacred service, they aren't being thrown out of the congregation if they can still attend and yet the bible is clear about not associating with the wicked one. The Kingdom Hall is all about christian association and serving God as a group. The above quote goes some way in explaining why a disfellowshipped person is allowed to attend a religious service at the Kingdom Hall, that is, they view him as an unwanted intrusion.

The hypocrysy displays itself again. The person is both an intruder and is not wanted there. However, in order to be reinstated that person must attend the meetings regularly for a period of time. So even though they are not wanted there they are actually wanted there in order to prove their sincerity.

If only they took the time to understand what the bible has to say about association they might get their policies right.

They can't be serious about discussing pornography with householders. What if you're a female witness and a male householder answers the door (or vice versa) and is there much point in discussing the issue with another female? Here's the sample presentation from the KM -

How did the 1919 GB know they were chosen ?

the present gb/fds claim a kind of apostolic succession going back to the now claimed first appearance of the fds in 1919.. i don't think anywhere is it made clear who made up the fds then, but let us go along with the fiction, (in reality we know only rutherford really ruled the roost) and assume there was a group of guys who were the fds, how did they know they were chosen as such ?.

there obviously is nothing in the wt writings of the time as all this is noo lite, so, if they did not know their heaven appointed role, why would they carry it out, except by accident?

and if so, how could they possibly produce "food at the proper time "?.

You make a good point. If the master of a household is going away and appoints a person to take on extra responsibilities then that person has surely been told and knows when his duties begin. He would not have started fulfilling those new responsbilities beforehand because his master was already there to do them. It wasn't until the master had left that his new role began.
