Belts, I've had a quick look at the 1983 year book (from the dvd which don't give page numbers) and it might be this quote
"From Chile’s report we read: “A special pioneer making a return visit asked the lady what book teaches us the will of God. ‘The Watchtower, of course,’ she said. Our sister proceeded to explain that it was, rather, the Bible. ‘Yes, but what would I do with my recently obtained Bible if I did not use The Watchtower to understand it?’—Acts 8:31.”

It would be easy enough to do, just send out their own Watrchtower branded red cordial for the memorial.
There is now only 8 officially recognized anointed ones I would be surprised if anyone missed them.

We are (not) representatives of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society
by VM44 inat one time jws were issued minister identification cards such as the s-65 in which it is officially stated that the bearer "is a representative of the watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania.. now, the watchtower specifically tells the publishers not to say they are representatives of the watchtower!.
when did this 180 degree change take place?.
here is the text that appears on the front of the s-65 "minister identification card.".

Maybe the writing in disassociation letters should be changed and advise 'that I no longer wish to be associated with the WTBTS and that is what should be announced to the congregation and make it clear that you are still a Jehovah's witness (unless of course, you are now an atheist). And if they are to announce otherwise then they are slandering you and your beliefs.

The New Diary of Winston Smith
by WinstonSmith inwe had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

Thanks for sharing this diary with us WS. Your disassociation letter is very moving mainly due to the fact that you express your love and friendship and that you are willing to continue with this.
Please let us know how your sister has taken this.

American Boy, if Jesus is the way then why is he not your mediater?
"Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members." Worldwide Security Under the "Prince of Peace" pp.10-11

Elder's attitude to dating a non-believer vs acting like a Christian
by ItsMyLife ini've not been on here for quite some time, due to personal reasons.. i have been dating a wonderful man for nearly 11 months now.
he's a non-practicing cofe christian.
i am a recently inactive jw (oh, how i regret getting baptized at 15).. my dad is an elder.

I was called into the Judicial Committee because I had been seen with a worldly person and I admitted that I was dating him. Their decision was to mark me. I didn't know what this meant but it didn't sound good. I left the religion over this issue because to me it was too extreme and judgemental.
I agree, 15 is far too young to be baptized, life has not even begun at that age.

Are Elders given back ground checks before appointment?
by JWOP ini'm researching a few things, and i'm wondering: are elders ever put through a back ground check either before or after their appointment as an elder?.

In Victoria they've been told to get their Working With Children Certificate which requires a background check but that doesn't mean to say that they are even looked at or what is done if they don't get them. They probably mean nothing.
