Also, the average age of those getting baptized is probably getting younger and younger, so the declines will be noticed more and more in following years.

International Convention in Arlington, Texas
by Rufus T. Firefly inthis year there were only two conventions in texas.
an international convention at at&t (cowboy) stadium in arlington, and a regional convention in houston.
projections for the arlington convention ranged from 60-85k, with attendees coming from ok, ar and la, no to mention the international delegates; however, the peak attendance on sunday was 50,000..

Thanks for reporting, it is interesting that they didn't reach their anticipated numbers. Was there a lot of begging for more donations?

Breaking News : Planning application for new British Bethel to be submitted within 2 weeks
by raymond frantz inapplication for new british headquarters to be submitted within 2 weeks.
the boys from bethel have been busy planning their new luxurius residence in chelmsford ,essex .the deal to purchuase the new land was in the region of 10million all financed from struggling jehovah's witnesses across the country .please read the news article and let me know what you think.. .
instead of building in chelmsford how about building in a less affluent area "where the need is great", like cumbernauld in north larnakshire.

I wonder how they justify wanting so much land these days? Maybe they are thinking that if there is another financial collapse then physical assets such as land may be one way of protecting their millions.

Why wasn't this guy told by the elders that he must report these crimes to police before they would even consider him for reinstatement as this would demonstrate his remorsefulness and repentence?

Disturbing Footnote in Tomorrow's Study Article...
by HeyThere inarticle is basicqlly about families where a spouse is working away from home for an extended period, etc...a foot note says basically that some studies have shown that working away from home can cause serious consequences, such as infidelity, homosexuality, or incest.

Joe Grundy, I agree. There was something not to long ago that was more directed at these third world countries and the advice was to stay at home. It may have been a story about a guy who had the opportunity to earn more money away from home but I can't recall.
They really have no idea. Many of these people are desperate in their own country and will fall prey to all sorts of temptations. Whether that is working in the sex industry, providing massages with 'happy endings' or telemarketing and lying to potential customers or being involved in one of the many scams that occur.
People who find work overseas are usually doing it so that they can provide better for their families and this in turn helps protect their family from a lot of criminal or unethical or demeaning activities.
The organization is working hard at trying to get people in third world countries converted. The Phillipines now has a beutiful Assembly Hall on a massive amount of land, worth a pretty penny. The locals are very proud of it and would rather keep it than help the survivors of the recent disasters. Having the image of Americanisation works to their advantage, that's what these people strive for. Providing studies and meetings in english is another attraction because learning to speak english can lead to jobs that pay much more.
It is as bad as telling females to stay barefoot and pregrnant at home in the kitchen.

This new JW video is so stupid that it has to be a troll
by Pacopoolio inrecently, my mother, who had stopped talking to me because i was 'apostate,' started speaking to me again.. (note that i successfully faded as opposed to ever being disfellowshipped due to dodging every elder question with "i'm not sure, i'm still searching and trying to find the answers.").
the reason why?
at the international convention this year, they receieved a new video called something or other.

It's hard to believe that they even bother to provide this on DVD. How many times can a person watch a really boring film? I guess if you're a JW, who is used to the boredom, it could be watched dozens of times.

a little under a year ago, both of us were disfellowshipped for sexual immorality.
while it was difficult, we promised to stick together through it, work our way toward marraige, and eventually return.

The other thing to consider is that unfortunately if you were to marry and she remained a loyal JW the marriage may never be a happy one. The organization has written a number of articles regarding pre marital sex and endeavours to make those doing this feel guilty for the rest of their lives. Not only that but they also endeavour to make one partner view the other partner negatively and without respect. You can't win if this is the mindset that she chooses.
