It is interesting to note why the Governments provide non profit and charity status to religions. It is not because they are being benevolent. It is all about control. It is a vehicle in which the Government can bind these organizations with a specific set of laws, it is for control. In order for an organization to qualify for tax exempt status they must comply with these specific and seperate laws, specially created. If the organization chooses not to be bound by these laws then the only choice is to become taxable entities. In many incidences the Government wants religions to qualify, it gives them the advantage of controlling them.

in the episode truth or consequences, a cult leader is investigated by the irs to determine if his cult has tax exemption or not.. one of the criteria that has to be met in order to be a legitimate 'church' or 'religion' in the eyes of the irs is that the members have to display "genuine belief'.. here is the portion of the script that speaks of this:.

was expelled out because she participated in more than one porn videos with classmates in the school and theses videos became public.
she is 14 years old and grew up as witnesses.but anybody knows she had many boyfriends and she-, but that thing was unbelievable!

Shame on those elders. By disfellowshipping her they are saying she is not repentant. This reflects very badly on those elders and her parents because they have not been able to help her to see the shame of what she has done.

by sowhatnow inmy mom seems to railroad me into a debate at least once a week.. anyway long story short,.
she says 'there is no where in the literture that the wt writers claimed that a specfic year it was going to be armageddon.. well i thought there was, and id like to print it or show it to her, i have some older books but not many.. so, is there?
i told her that the wt claimed that 1975 was going to be the end, she said no, they said that was the beginning of the tribulation.. wow, she forgot about the most recent article ablout that already!.

This weeks service meeting! More craziness.....

a whole 15 min part devoted to trying to indoctrinate everyone on how to "explain our beliefs on 1914".
then another 15 min part called "a tool to help us explain our beliefs about 1914".

The crazy thing is that 1914 no longer has any relevance. With the old teaching of 'this generation' it defined a point in time in which the big A would occur. Now with the overlapping generations they have been very obscure with any real time period.

Man grant divorce from wife who refused sex
