  Has the WT ever specifically said in print that GB is NOT the FDS in contradiction of current position?

  Magnum is correct.  There is even a detailed Watchtower article that ridiculed anyone teaching that the FDS was only the GB.  Sorry but I don't have the time to find it at the moment.

  To see the letter better on Internet Explorer there is a tool bar on the top far right, if you click on it one of the options is a zoom button, choose 400% when your page is on the letter and you can use the bottom and right sliding bar to read the letter.  Go back to the tool bar and reset it to 100% when you are finished.

  Regarding Kingdom Halls the Society has left it up to the collective conscience of the body of elders that use it.  Who owns these Kingdom Halls that have been dedicated to God for worship?  If it is the body of elders then it should rightly be their decision.  If it is the Society then they have the obligation to ensure that it is used according to their instructions.  I guess their instructions are to leave it up to the body of elders but it means that any decision made by the elders are sanctioned by them 100%.

  You're right, the real reason was clearly explained when he states

  How does our understanding of the FDS really protect us today?

  Well our previous understanding that all of the anointed around the world were feeding the domestics really could have left us open to some attack by apostates or others who claim to be the anointed and they say they are also feeding  the domestics and this could have led to some confusion in the sheep about who really they should listen to if someone's claiming to be the anointed but now that, that door is closed.  We know clearly where the direction and the spiritual food is coming from and we don't need to worry that somehow, ah, that could be confusing as we get closer to the time of the end, it's really a beautiful protection for us to know clearly where the spiritual food and decision comes from  and that's from the fds, the governing body

   These are some interesting points

  That they make public that there is an attack from within and once again those claiming within the organization that they are anointed are in fact not, why they think followers should believe that the GB are all anointed isn't answered.  Oh wait, circular reasoning would tell me that it is because they are the fds.

  The door was opened several years ago to the idea that the door in 1935 had not really been closed on new anointed ones but the door is now closed on them claiming that they are feeding the sheep.  One door opens and another door closes.

  Probably a slip up but he says 'as we get closer to the time of the end'.  I thought they were already living in the time of the end.

  And lastly, he states 'us to know clearly where the spiritual food and decision comes from '  He just conveniently slipped that authority in, not only does the fds provide spiritual food but they have the added authority to make the decisions.  Hmm, there wasn't any mention of that in the parable and has way more implications than just providing the spiritual food.

  Julia, sorry to hear that you are finding things difficult.  Going to a counsellor could help but I don't think that it needs to be one dealing with cults. 

  You have told us previously that you joined the religion when you were younger and your parents were not JWs. This is not all that common and you should look at the reasons why you joined back then.  Have you considered whether you were vulnerable back then or what it was that attracted you in the first place?  Maybe your time in the cult helped to mask over any problems.

  You've got a wonderful husband who sounds very supportive.  Don't put unwarranted pressures or expectations on yourself until you are better and able to function better.

  You write so well and are able to express yourself clearly and that is very positive.

  If you feel you need to DA then they must still have some power over you, they don't deserve it.

  Some very good predictions were made.

  Sir82 was pretty good too with his comments on rebranding -

  "Never underestimate the capacity of a religious group to re-brand itself and begin a fresh round of marketing. People's memories are notoriously short, and oftentimes people also have a shockingly poor grasp of the historical picture at the best of times (who among the current rank and file went through the disappointment of 1914 - or even 1925 for that matter? All dead and gone - or pretty close to it!). We sometimes erroneously conclude that because we have been through a major disappointment that others will also have a similar memory years later. sadly, not true: people re-write or re-construct memories all the time - especially when religiousd beliefs are involved."
