RE: Appropriate attire for graduation ceremony
by Lied2NoMore inwill the branch send out a letter to address appropriate attire for the worldwide graduation from .
"the school that no one ever graduates from"?.
i have been thinking of the endless ways this new direction for the tms termination screams for criticism.. i am sure a quick publication search will reveal several references gushing at how great of an invention the tms was, how it has benefitted jw's, you know, gush, gush, greatest thing since sliced bread, blah, blah, blah.... i'm not interesting in looking at the moment, but wasn't knorr credited with its invention and rollout?.

Janusfulcrum, I am assuming that if they use the term student it justifies using females in the presentations. -

What's the craziest thing someone INFORMED on you about?
by Londo111 inthe culture of jws as encouraged by the watchtower is one of informing on one another, reporting to either the elders or ones designated head.
whats the wackiest thing that someone reported on you?
im not talking about a black-and-white watchtower rule that would land you in a judicial committee, but some judgmental nonsense that someone thought they should turn you in about?.

Interesting story Duunedain, regarding the elder hunter. It was my understanding that Jws taught killing animals for sport was wrong. -

Calm Down Everybody, We Will Know Soon Enough
by OnTheWayOut inseriously, they will change the midweek meeting ever so slightly.
it is just repackaging of the same old stuff.seriously, we don't know if construction is halted for days, weeks, months, forever, or what.. we don't know if new kingdom halls will still go up, old kingdom halls will be closed and sold.
they have laid off bethelites before and they will lay them off some more.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Warwick site contamination and their plans on suing? -

Offering the awake magazine to the public one month and then the watchtower the next month means placements will be immediately halved, this is a big saving for the org. -

BWAAAHAHAHAHA! Luke 14:28
by marmot innew international version"suppose one of you wants to build a tower.
won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?".
the irony, oh the sweet sweet delicious irony..

Yep, it's going to be hard for them to keep telling their followers to obey us and even harder to maintain any trust.
They have always said that they use the money wisely.
If the GB had any real concern for their organisation they would face up to their responsibities and resign. It's just amazing that they expect the r&f to dig them out of this problem and give them even more money.

A Funny Thing Happened Yesterday
by truthseeker100 inyesterday right out of the blue i received an email from my cousin a now former jw who i hadn't heard from in over 25 years.
he got my email address of another non related jw website that i posted on.
he is not disfellowshiped because he said he dug up all sorts of dirt on the body of elders before he divorced his wife and remarried so in my opinion this guy is not classified as a fader but wants nothing to do with the truth.

Well done searcher. Asking for the appropriate section to be put through to probably made all the difference.

money
by Defianttruth ini keep seeing references to the 750 million in sales of the nyc properties and confusion around the apparent cash flow problems of the wtbt society.
here's the reality.
if they went, to a bank and asked for loans for the buildings here's what a bank would say, "absolutely.

I think you are right defianttruth, they must have borrowed against properties they already owned and were at a point when they couldn't afford even the interest repayments. It explains why they had to sell their New York property at a time which was far from ideal and when property prices had slumped.
It is interesting that they have listed themselves as a printing and construction business. All they need now is for the IRS to pick up on it and start taxing them on the sale of their buildings.

Are You A Thinker And A Lurker?
by konceptual99 inif you are a lurker then you are probably a thinker.
you will already be wondering about a number of aspects of jw doctrine and how they stack up against reason, logic and modern scientific evidence.
if so, then i appeal to you to meditate and reason on one implication arising from the latest news that the next publication will be a simplified version of an already simplified book.

Brooklyn Layoffs and Halt to Kingdom Hall construction projects
by James Jack ina good source just just told me that at morning worship today that the governing body announced that a total of 1600 bethelites will be let get go and not transferred to warwich when the last property is sold in brooklyn and all kingdom hall building projects are on hold for at least a year so that all the focus will be on the preaching work.

Is this just a WTBTS tactic. All this stopped work with just over a week to go to the Annual Meeting.
Are they planning to beg for more money at the meeting and tell the r&f that they are in such a pickle that they have had to cancel projects, proving that they desperately need every penny they can get? They've already stooped as low as asking kids for their ice cream money.
They are going to have to come clean at some stage to say how badly off they are but not without a fight and I can't think of a better opportunity than to use the annual meeting as an instant fund raising excercise. Then like magic, the money will come pouring in in their hour of need and all these projects can recommence with little disruption.
They'll be able to spin it all and the r&f will be cheering them on, they won't be throwing their money into the streets but into the mouth of the hungry org.
