This talk is based on the Watchtower Nov 2013 about 7 shepherds and 8 dukes (them being the secret weapon)

The Bible says that this army is made up of “seven shepherds” and “eight dukes,” or princes. (Micah 5:5) Who are they? They are the congregation elders. (1 Peter 5:2) Today, Jehovah is using many faithful elders to shepherd and to strengthen his people for the future attack of “the Assyrian.” * (See footnote.) Micah’s prophecy tells us that they will “shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword.” (Micah 5:6) One of the weapons they use to defeat the enemy is “the sword of the spirit,” God’s Word.—Ephesians 6:17; 2 Corinthians 10:4.
17. What four lessons can the elders learn from the account we have discussed?
17 Elders, you can learn some helpful lessons from what we have just discussed: (1) The best thing you can do to prepare for the future attack of “the Assyrian” is to strengthen your faith in God and help your brothers to do the same. (2) When “the Assyrian” attacks, you must be completely convinced that Jehovah will save us. (3) At that time, the direction that you receive from Jehovah’s organization may seem strange or unusual. But all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether we agree with them or not, because obeying these instructions will save our lives. (4) If any are putting their trust in the education of this world, material things, or human organizations, they must change their way of thinking now. You must be ready to help any who may not be putting their complete trust in Jehovah.

From reading the article, they attempt to explain that the scripture had fulfillment in Hezekiahs time, Jesus time and today. Seems like thiey are retaining this type and anti type without supporting it biblically.

Stuckinarut2 it is Faye and her husband was also there, Darren Janes. They're not a young couple, she would be at least 52. I gather they won't be returning to Bethel after being there for a good number of years so it will be a big change for them.

The Gilead graduate Videos are now up on JW org TV. They've outdone themselves this time by presenting 3 videos. I didn't listen to it all but here is a little summary of them.

Losch's talk about spiritual richness. He talked about the students not attending so they could personally become spiritually rich (that would be a wrong reason) but they came because they love God and want to help others. He promised that Jehovah would care for all the daily needs of the Gillead graduates and their families.

Splane - talked about being loyal like Baruck

Br Coffin - Apply the golden rule - "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Keep on forgiving. When you leave this place you will be continue to be surrounded by imperfect people trying to do the perfect will of God in some of the most difficult circumstances of human history.

Bro Mark Numair - To keep the miracle going. Two prayers by Hannah recorded by Samuel. He said that today you may have a work assignment, tomorrow it might change. You're not dedicated to a work assignment you are dedicated to Jehovah. Motive is important. Don't worry about negative things said about you just live your life so that no one will believe those negative things said about you. You've been here for 5 months and stuck together like glue, show that same interest in others in your assignment. We are not a military organization we are a family and we build others up.

The next video are presentations by the students. Sounds like their preaching work would be much more effective if they just travelled all the time.

Morris - We are supposed to always do our best to rejoice.

Next was the presentation, their certificates and placements.

Surprise, just about all of the graduates have been assigned back to their original homelands.

Another surprise for me personally was having known one of the graduates many years ago. She had been working at the Sydney Bethel with her husband before attending the Gillead School.

There were others amongst the graduates who had also been working at their Bethel home. Going by the stats that Losch gave most of them have been serving full time, either witnessing or Bethel. I guess there will be many surprised family members and friends surprised to hear that they will be returning to their home countries. I did not hear whether they were offered positions as regular pioneers or not.

"Kings and Priests" - Churned Out on Other Sites.

i've never examined another well known anti-org site's beliefs before, but having just looked at it via a link in a current post, i immediately noted the wtbts/g.b.

's favourite phrase - "kings and priests" - being parroted!.

reasoning purely on the bible, the greek word "basileus" can be translated as leader of the people, prince, commander, lord of the land, king.

We are discussing the term found in the book of revelation. If it is King or Prince,the book is symbolic. When it talks about virgins it doesn't necessarily mean real virgins.

How many times have we seen the expression 'he lives like a King'.

Also this interpretation comes from an organisation that believes spiritual Israel consists only of Kings and Priests.

OF DOGS AND BITES AND BIKES AND THINGS

there were two of them; a mixed breed of boxer and pit bull; clean, white--collared, tagged and--for some inexplicable reason, ferociously intent on tearing me to shreds!.

ah, but i'm getting ahead of myself.

That's awful Terry. It's not enough that the dogs will be quarantined for ten days and the owner fined. Can you make a small claim out of it and take him to court? It is not a difficult thing to do yourself without the need for a lawyer.

On jw org, regarding the question about birthdays, it says

"Children of witness parents do not feel deprived"

This is a straight out lie. It might be true of some children but that does not make the statement true. Guilting your son will not make it true either.

How to survive an assembly

hey i was just wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to keep my brain occupied while i'm at an assembly tommorow.

maybe besides tallying the number of times they say jehovah and jesus or counting how many people are wearing red.

i want to keep myself from going insane or having some kind of panic attack lol.

Take notes on your notepad with the focus on increasing your typing speed.

Do math sums in your head.

Focus on the people around you and try to work out what they are doing to distract themselves.

Think of a hobby you are interested in and try to come up with ideas of how you can do it better or create new ideas.

Pretend you are going to write a book and come up with a detailed story plot and different characters to include.

Warwick Photo Gallery No. 3 is up again on JW org. From what I can tell all the photo's are there, however there is a difference.

Warwick Photo Gallery No. 1 and No. 2 allows you to look at 20 photos as part of a library. Gallery No. 3 only allows you to look closely at 19 photos although there are 20 photo thumbnails and 20 photos originally. The 20th photo that cannot be enlarged or shown as part of the library is the internal picture of the swanky living quarters/flat.

Walkill Photo Gallery No 2 is still not up.

For those that made negative comments about my comment regarding 35% of workers being female, even going as far as calling me a bigot, would you like to explain why the org apparently does not want to accommodate females come Jan. 2016?

this issue contains the study articles for february 29 to april 3, 2016.. what about the number of those partaking at the memorial?12, 13. why should we not worry about the number of those who eat the bread and drink the wine at the memorial?12 in recent years, we have seen an increase in the number of those partaking at the memorial of christs death.

that trend contrasts with the decrease in the number of partakers that we saw for many decades.

How is it possible to have a gradual realisation? It's not even possible to think that you are partly anointed.

The GB are talking about themselves when they say this. How do they know that some who claim they are anointed only do so because they have mental or emotional problems? They themselves are doing the judging by claiming so.

What really bothers me is when they quote scripture and say that God knows those that belong to him because they are saying that most jws and every other Christian don't.

One week they say it's not important to know who are anointed and the next week they say that your salvation depends upon supporting the anointed.
