We've been watching the whole series of the English show "Would I lie to You" on Youtube. It is so funny, hubby and I really enjoy the English sense of humor. We've also been watching Lee Macks "Not going out" and David Mitchell's "The Peep Show" which is very different.

Entertainment: What's everybody reading or into right now?
by schnell ini picked up bernard cornwell's the pagan lord at the library.
historical fiction set in england after the death of alfred the great.
i'm loving it, especially the between-the-lines wit and sense of timing in cornwell's writing, and the complete badassery of the protagonist.

When it comes to building programs the org. says that safety is the no. one priority, but that's not surprising because accidents potentially cost them a lot of money.

In the second part of the annual meeting 2016 they say that there are 9 doctors servicing the US Bethel. These Doctors are given the same as all other Bethelites. They look after 4,500 Bethelites, both full time and temps. They also interview them in the video.

Is there Scriptural Evidence to a Resurrection during the 1,000 year Reign?
by Listener inthis question was addressed on the jw advisor blog (a defending watchtower website), july 24,2016 .
the answer is interesting because it is more in accord with what the bible fortells but it is not in accord with what the watchtower is currently teaching and has been for decades.
it has been suggested on this forum that the site has been sanctioned by the watchtower or written by writers at hq.this is the current view of the watchtower and is under 'bible teachings' on jw org.

But only the GB could come up with their definition of an overlapping generation of non existent anointed ones beginning in the year of the invisible return of Christ in 1914.

This question was addressed on the JW Advisor Blog (a defending Watchtower website), July 24,2016 . The answer is interesting because it is more in accord with what the Bible fortells but it is not in accord with what the Watchtower is currently teaching and has been for decades.

This is the current view of the Watchtower and is under 'Bible Teachings' on JW orghttps://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/questions/what-is-the-resurrection/
The resurrection to life on earth will occur during the Thousand Year Reign of Jesus Christ, when the earth will be transformed into a paradise.—Luke 23:43; Revelation 20:6, 12, 13.
The Insight Book statesResurrection During 1,000 Years.
Watchtower 2012 7/15During the Thousand Year Reign, they will be joined by billions of resurrected ones. (Rev. 20:12, 13)
JW Advisor answer isIt took me a little while, but I finally found the quintessential information. The July 1, 1998 Watchtower says this about the final resurrection:
So the fact is, we do not have a definitive stance for the time of the last resurrection. Note, though that Revelation 20:3 says that "After [the 1,000 years, Satan] must be released for a little while." Verse 7 says that this occurs "as soon as the 1,000 years have ended." However, it does not specify how long "a little while" is. Thus it could be an untold number of years, allowing many ample time to be resurrected in a reasonable time frame and have an opportunity to come to Christ.
The publication, Revelation - It's Grand Climax at Hand!, Chapter 40, paragraphs 13-15 says this about the 1,000 years and the final resurrection. Speaking of the anointed, it begins:
Thus, whenever the resurrection occurs, however it occurs, and at whatever pace it occurs, we need only have faith that those resurrected will have ample time to come to know Christ and make a choice as to whether to serve God or follow Satan into destruction. You are free to believe that the resurrection occurs when the 1,000 have ended, and even to speak about it, as long as you make it clear that it is not the definitive view of the organization as we have not made any other statement than to suggest that the final resurrection may actually begin before the time of the end as interpreting statements of time in the scriptures can be tricky. The scripture itself says "when the 1,000 years have ended", so it is okay to state it that way. What matters is that the resurrection occurs as we understand it. 'When' is not a deal-breaker....The Rest of the Dead
Whom, though, will these kings judge if, as the apostle John here inserts, “(the rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended)”? (Revelation 20:5a) Again, the expression “come to life” has to be understood according to context. This expression can have varying meanings in varying circumstances. For example, Paul said of his anointed fellow Christians: “It is you God made alive though you were dead in your trespasses and sins.” (Ephesians 2:1) Yes, spirit-anointed Christians were “made alive,” even in the first century, being declared righteous on the basis of their faith in Jesus’ sacrifice.—Romans 3:23, 24.
Similarly, pre-Christian witnesses of Jehovah were declared righteous as to friendship with God; and Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were spoken of as “living” even though they were physically dead. (Matthew 22:31, 32; James 2:21, 23) However, they and all others who are resurrected, as well as the great crowd of faithful other sheep who survive Armageddon and any children that may be born to these in the new world, must yet be raised to human perfection. This will be accomplished by Christ and his associate kings and priests during the thousand-year Judgment Day, on the basis of Jesus’ ransom sacrifice. By the end of that Day, “the rest of the dead” will have “come to life” in the sense that they will be perfect humans. As we shall see, they must then pass a final test, but they will face that test as perfected humans. When they pass the test, God will declare them worthy of living forever, righteous in the fullest sense. They will experience the complete fulfillment of the promise: “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.” (Psalm 37:29) What a delightful future is in store for obedient mankind! [Emphasis theirs.]
In summary JW Advisor claims that the Watchtowers view is only speculation (or suggestion as he says) and leaves open the possibility that the earthly resurrection may be after the 1,000 years and JWs are fine in believing this (and having their own interpretation of Rev 20:5)
I pointed out that he was going against Watchtower teaching but his only comment was as followsProtostar, just because you can see your own posts does not mean anyone else can except us admins.
He did not want to comment on the fact that he was going against Watchtower teaching. However, it's funny to see that he is going against their own teachings....or maybe there will be 'new light'. -

although the bible teaches that god’s adversary, satan, has authority over political systems, it does not say that he directly controls each leader or official.
(luke 4:5, 6) we should therefore avoid implying that a particular official is controlled by the devil.

For those that are receiving messages of doom and gloom from JWs, they might like to remind them about obedience to their Organization and what they were told in the April, 2016 Watchtower which was studied only a few months ago, in August.
These are some of the highlights-Although the Bible teaches that God’s adversary, Satan, has authority over political systems, it does not say that he directly controls each leader or official. (Luke 4:5, 6) We should therefore avoid implying that a particular official is controlled by the Devil. Instead, when dealing with “governments and authorities,” we “speak injuriously of no one.”—Titus 3:1, 2.
We obey God by never favoring any candidate or political party over another, regardless of whether they seem to support or oppose our interests
Conversations. We must exercise caution when political issues are brought up. For example, when presenting the Kingdom message, avoid either praising or criticizing the policies of a political party or leader
A third key to maintaining our neutrality is to gain strength from Jehovah. Pray for holy spirit, which can give you patience and self-control, qualities needed to cope with a government that may be corrupt or unjust.
Jesus stayed completely separate from the political and social conflicts of the world.
Let the elders know about the tests of neutrality that you may be facing, and ask for their mature, Bible-based counsel
The following is the final comment in the article. You could mention to the JW who is accusing the Trump Government of potentially triggering Armageddon, how the Trump Government might potentially deal with JWs spreading these comments. As human governments near their end, we will not be surprised if they become less and less tolerant of our loyalty to Jehovah and his Kingdom. Thus, may we now strengthen our resolve to maintain our neutrality in a divided world.

Losch explains that religious truth is different and gives examples
But can we find the truth? Some say that the truth is relative. It is like saying ‘this is truth for you and this is truth for me’ This truth is not logical when it comes to religious truth. Either God is a trinity or he is not. Either the soul is mortal or it is not. Either there is a future paradise on earth or there is not. Either homosexuality is acceptable to God or it is not. Either participating in wars was is permissible or it is not.
He then makes this statement about truthTruth is definite not relative because Jehovah conveyed the truth to his servants.
With this groundwork that he lays out about truth then how will he explain their own past lies? And we can call them lies because he just explained that you either have a correct doctrine or you don't.Whereas the truth of Gods word does not change our understanding of the truth does change because we are not perfect yet. We understand more about the truth today than Christians in the first century. Do we keep up with the progressive understanding of truth? Daniel was told many would rove about and the true knowledge will become abundant. This is a gradual process, we are still roving about.
We can only conclude that they in fact do not always teach bible truth. What they are doing is teaching their understanding of bible truth.
He made the comment that once a person tells a lie then they cannot be trusted to later tell the truth even if they speak the truth but then asks the audience if they trust the FDS (and that Jesus does). If they were appointed by Jesus in 1919 then their teaching after that point included lies, therefore why would Jesus continue to trust them?
How then do they know if they have the truth? This is where it becomes all muddled because he claims that they do and tries to prove it. What exactly is religious truth again? Losch tells us it is definite, not relative and that there is truth in the bible but not in their understanding.
When he talks about being prepared to die for the truth then shouldn't it be the case that a person should be prepared to die for bible truth but not for any religions organizational understanding of truth?Do we appreciate that we have the truth, the only truth? Is this arrogant to say? By no means, it would be a sin if we would not say so. Jesus was not arrogant when he said ‘I am the truth’
If the real truth is in the bible then how can it be that they are the only ones with the truth? The bible is available to all truth lovers and he later recognizes that there are truth lovers outside of the JW religion. There are religions that have some doctrines that agree with the JWs and some that are different, just as the JWs had some doctrines that are the same today and some that are different and Losch says that they are still 'wandering' about with changes. Therefore their understanding cannot be definitive, it is not 100% truth.
He claims that it would be a sin if he did not claim that only they had the truth. Yet his own speech shows that he is lying by making this claim.
Is his claim to having the only truth a small lie, a big lie or a malicious lie? The only way to answer that would be to examine each teaching but it doesn't really matter. A lie is a lie and detestable to God. It is beyond me as to why he spent so much time in this lecture making a scale to measure lies, not to mention that false religions were 'daughters of the lie'. -

Be a champion of truth
In today's world truth is being attacked and distorted. We are being surrounded by a sea of lies and misrepresentations.... Satan is the father of the lie but today there are children of the lie....
A lie is a false statement deliberately being presented as true. A falsehood. A lie is the opposite of the truth. Lying involves saying something incorrect to someone who is entitled to know the truth about a matter. But there is also something called a half truth. The bible tells Christians to be honest with each other. Now that you have put away deceit, speak truth wrote the Apostle Paul at Ep 4:25. Lies and half truths undermine trust. A German proverb says Who lies once is not believed even if he says the truth. So we need to speak openly and honestly with each other, not withholding bits of information that could change the perception in the listener or mislead him.
As to lies, there are different types. Some politicians have lied about matters that they want to keep secret. Companies sometimes lie in advertisements regarding their products. What about the news media. Many try to report matters truthfully but we should not be gullible and believe everything newspapers write or everything we hear on radio or see on television.
Then there are religious lies. If satan is called the father of the lie then BTG the global empire of false religion can be called the mother of the lie. Individual false religions can be called daughters of the lie. Some lie be saying that sinners will get tormented in hell forever. Others lie by saying once saved, always saved. Again, others lie by saying that the earth will be burnt up on judgement day and all good people will go to heaven. Some worship idols. Paul wrote in Romans 1:25 ‘They exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated sacred service to the creation rather than the creator.
Then there are many lies of a personal nature that people express in every day life. The business man may get a phone call that tells the secretary to answer the call by saying ‘i’m not in’. That may be considered a small lie. There are small lies, big lies and malicious lies. A child may have broken something but when asked initially, out of fear of punishment, denies having done it. This does not make the child a malicious lier. In contrast, what if an entrepenuer tells his bookkeeper to falsify the entries in the books in order to save on taxes? This lying to the tax office is certainly a serious lie, it is a deliberate attempt to mislead somebody who has the right to know. It also robs the Government of what it has established legal income. We can see that not all lies are the same. There are small lies, big lies and malicious lies. Satan is a malicious lier, he is the champion of the lie. Since Jehovah hates lies, we should avoid all lies. Not just big or malicious lies. Truth is definite not relative because Jehovah conveyed the truth to his servants. Ps 43:3 says ‘Send out your light and your truth’. Jehovah is a revealer of truth.
One of the reasons why Jesus came out into the world was to witness to the truth. John 18:37 ..’I should bear witness to the truth...’ So if we listen to Jesus or read in the bible what he taught we can learn the truth. Jesus was the personification of truth he said ‘I am the way and the truth and the light’. We can find out what the truth is by diligently studying the bible Truth is that which is a fact. For true Christians the entire text of the Hebrew and Christian Greek scriptures constitutes the truth. Ps 119;116 ..That is why it is good to do daily bible reading with mediation and weekly family worship. Mt 24:45-47 we read that for the time fo the end Jesus would appoint a FDS or GB to explain the bible to his followers and help them to grow in understanding of the truth.
Whereas Jesus’ teachings and the word of God are inspired the FDS is not inspired although it champions the truth. Nevertheless the FDS provides spiritual food. Whereas in the first century there was supernatural spiritual food available for apostles and bible writers, in the time of the end Jehovah does not bestow this miraculous gift anymore as explained at 1 Corinthians 13:8. Although there is no divine inspiration today still Jesus leads his people progressively through the services of the faithful slave. Jesus trusted the imperfect faithful slave that it will do its best to convey spiritual food. Do you also trust the slave? Whereas the truth of Gods word does not change our understanding of the truth does change because we are not perfect yet. We understand more about the truth today than Christians in the first century. Do we keep up with the progressive understanding of truth? Daniel was told many would rove about and the true knowledge will become abundant. This is a gradual process, we are still roving about.
During the millennium Jehovah will reveal additional truth to mankind. Rev 20:12 it mentions scrolls that will be opened. The apostle John reports that the dead are to be judged out of those things written in the scrolls depending on their deeds . Evidently then these scrolls will contain additional information for mankind during the 1.000 years. It stands to reason then that after the end of the millennial reign there will be additional truths to learn. Still, according to Eccl. 3:11 ‘Mankind will never find out the work that the true God has made’.
But how do we know that we have the truth? At penticost 33 of our common era true Christians numbered only about 3,000. Today we are millions and on average, every weekend more than 5,000 people are baptised but this in itself is not proof that we have the truth. Truth is not measured in numbers.
Why do we know that we have the truth?
For one, because we remain in Jesus teaching. John 5:31
Second, we know we have the truth because of the deep bond of love for each other particularly john 13:35
Thirdly, we know we have the truth because our conduct adheres to the high moral standards of truth. John 15:10
Fourth, we know we have the truth because we remain neutral in the controversies of the world As Jesus advises at John 17:14
Fifth, we know we have the truth because we are God’s named people Acts 15:14 speaks of a people for his name.
Jesus said the truth will set you free. It sets us free from fears , like the fear of death, fear of the future and an exaggerated fear of man. It also sets us free from false teachings, from spiritism, from astrology and magic. It sets us free from immorality and its consequences . There are no other people on earth that are spiritually free as we are. Do we appreciate that freedom? Truth leads to freedom 2 cor. 3:17 says where the spirit of Jehovah is there is freedom.
The truth penetrates schools, how so? By means of our children who preach the truth to classmates and teachers. Do you go to school? Do you champion the truth at school? How can you do this? You do this not only by preaching but by not just your conduct but your dress and grooming and by taking a stand for the truth when others want you to participate in unchristian practices. You also champion the truth by remaining honest and not cheating on your exams and Jehovah will love you for that.
The truth also penetrates prisons....contacting prisoners...even monasteries..
The world is in utter confusion. What a blessing it is to know the truth. We rejoice in it, we have the truth on our side...We have the truth around our lips, we have the truth on our hips...We are ready to teach it, we talk the truth and we walk in the truth. Those who continue to walk in the truth will walk in it forever. Help your students to love the truth and to live in the truth but if necessary, be willing to die in the truth and for Jehovah.
The truth is invincible and will conquer this wicked world. In some countries we may have many enemies who may want to silence us...neither can our enemies suppress the truth.
Do we appreciate that we have the truth, the only truth? Is this arrogant to say? By no means, it would be a sin if we would not say so. Jesus was not arrogant when he said ‘I am the truth’
To know the truth is not enough. We need to champion. There are still many lovers of truth out there, search for them, who will help you in the search? According to John 4:23 Jesus said Jehovah is searching for ones....The majority will not listen to the truth because the darkness rather than the light. The truth may expose their sinful conduct and they may not have the humility to want to repent and change . We still have to preach to them to warn them. Ezekial was told, you must warn them from me. The principle applies to us as well.
Paul speaks of the sword of Gods word. ...train your students to be defenders of it as well.
The time will come in paradise, after the final test, when it will not be necessary to champion or defend truth because no one will attack it anymore.
Right now, whether we are adults, teenagers or children, let us follow and imitate Jesus. ..hold fast to the truth as a lifeline as this it what it is by staying faithful whether you survive Armageddon or are resurrected in paradise you will be a victorious champion of truth.
