Pacifism is Morally Indefensible

i have been surprised recently to see so much support by ex-jws for the watchtower's refusal to fight and kill.

in my opinion it is a vice masquerading as a virtue.

of course war should always be a last resort but there are occasions that it has to be done.

Why lethal force? There are other options so why would they be moral cowards if they chose a different option rather than lethal?

What if the husband was not in a position to defend the family but the wife had a gun and chose to injure the attacker rather thang kill him, but it wasn't enough, would she also be a moral coward?

What is acceptable or expected from a male in relation to wars is generally not the same for a female or in defence of their families. We should not be imposing our personal standards of moral cowardness on all males, either by law or judgement.

Motive is everything and we expect a different standard from males and females in general.

BCG felt what he was doing was wrong and was concerned that his behaviour would make other victims more reluctant to come forward with their stories if there was a possibility that they could become victims all over again, albeit in a different way.

Alexandra James said her number one priority was to protect the victims in providing a forum in which they feel comfortable and argued with Cedars about this. She has my great respect, she shows such professionalism in both her writing and sensitiveness towards victims.

He makes up his own standards of activism. First there's aggressive activism, then there's regressive activism and none of those are substantiated, he does make it up.

What concerns me more is that an individual who exposes their story to him has given up their right to privacy. He will not only have information about a very intimate incident, he will also know their real life identity.

Scientology has been known to use and hold such details against individuals as a form of blackmail and as a form of control.

It's not the first time he has requested such information. When the British Charity Commission began their investigations he asked Victims to share their story with him, stating that he would act as a go between.

If you get on his wrong side, or even if he just perceives that, he can become nasty.

Let's say you've given him your story and then later sue the Watchtower, you could have compromised your own position. JC and his helpers keep a data base of information for reporting purposes in furtherance of their own agenda.

recommendation 16.27. the jehovah’s witness organisation should abandon its application of the two-witness rule in cases involving complaints of child sexual abuse.. recommendation 16.28. the jehovah’s witness organisation on should revise its policies so that women are involved in processes related to invesation and determining allegations of child sexual abuse.. recommendation 16.29. the jehovah’s witness organisation should no longer require its members to shun those who disassociate from the organisation in cases where the reason for disassocia on is related to a person being a victim of child sexual abuse..

I can see Angus Stuart's hand in those three recommendations. He's been reasonable and these three recommendations are achievable by the organisation without having to break any bible rules.

The organisation is showing its stubbornness by claiming to stick to the two witness rule even though they've made their own modifications to it, such as the situation where two people of the opposite sex are just seen together in the same house overnight and alone.

inspired by this weeks clam article which again "reminds" the brothers pdf their obligation/privilege to donate "voluntarily" i have complied a list of articles or videos in the last 5 years where donations are indeed solicited or encouraged.

the society may argue that these are not actual solicitations because no plate was passed around.

but a donation box is just a more discrete and subtle version of the plate.

Due to the increase we have witnessed over the past few years, a number of circuits have grown. Also, many of our foreign-language congregations are now part of European-wide circuits enjoying circuit visits in their own language. To ensure that circuits in Britain and Ireland are a similar size, commencing September 1, 2018, the majority of circuits will be adjusted and renamed.

They are doing a remarkable job in the selling of Kingdom Halls and amalgamating of congregations with all this increase over the past few years.

Since the change in circuits will take place from Sept. 1, 2018, it may indicate that there is still a lot of ongoing work in Kingdom Hall sales and adjusting sizes of congregations and much of it will settle down after that date.

That's a novel way to sell their products at Starbucks but I wonder how many people would be interested in going into their store and wasting time looking up items and info on their phones.

Call me old fashioned but I'd prefer to see items with labels and a short description physically next to or on it.

Like everything, a new craze comes out and the crowd gets excited. Some work and some don't.

Twenty years ago I could never have imagined being able to order groceries online and having it delivered. We've got to wait until the next day but that's not much of a problem.

It's incredible that they teach that if you reject the seven Govening Body men then you are rejecting God. That is the basic idea of the Return to Jehovah booklet.
