Judaism is not like this at all. Judaism is not based on what you believe but on who you are and what you do
What you just wrote is a belief right there.
Why do you think MOST posters are feeling bad from what you are writing?
it’s been a while since i posted, but for those who remember, i came on here to get some information about jehovah’s witnesses because i have a nephew who was getting engaged to a girl who was a jehovah’s witness and, along with some other sites, i was recommended this one.. since then we’ve been busy with passover and jehovah’s witnesses have had something they call the memorial of christ’s death (i believe i have that right).
this clashing of the two observances apparently did more for this girl than anything else i ever saw in our months of conversations with her.. respectfully, jews do not proselytize.
these are people who, of their own desire, “join the tribe” after some years of study and practice--something this girl has just begun to do.

in some european countries, "church tax" is levied against members of certain religions.
how each country handles this differs depending on each country's tax laws.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/church_tax.
in germany, a member of a religion that has "public law" status pays an additional 8 or 9 percent on their tax assessments.
Is the amount payable 8 or 9% of an individual's net income or of the amount of tax payable for that year?

You can't just become a Jew without having some level of belief, ideas or customs, otherwise I could call myself a Jew. All I was saying is that she may find she does not want to believe in some aspect and choose not to be Jewish.
For instance, you say that she stopped being a JW because she accepted the Jewish calculations. She may later decide that she no longer accepts this and believes the JWs have it right and return to being a JW. Or it may be too hard for her to deal with the shunning from her own family and return to the JWs. It doesn't matter if you tell me that she doesn't have to accept the Jewish calculation or not in order to be a Jew, in her own mind, it may be an important issue to her.
You later explain why she wants to become a Jew. The point is, she may decide these are not valid reasons. Her husband might decide to become a Mormon and she's happy to go along with that to keep family peace.
So tread lightly before you start speaking about what this woman is doing. She is joining is new culture because she is marrying a Jew and they plan to start a family. She wants to be a part of a culture to raise her children in it. She may end up being an atheist, but she wants to raise her children in such a culture that will allow her children to be free and safe to do the same. The Jehovah's Witness culture won't allow for that, but ours, the Jewish culture will. She understands that. She is studying who we are, but not like Listener has mistakenly come to the conclusion of adopting some central set of beliefs--of which there are none.
Again, it doesn't matter if she has to accept a central set of beliefs or not, whatever it is that you are feeding her, she simply may choose not to accept it.
You may think that being a Jew is simply the best and you appear to be tickled pink that this young lady is no longer a JW. You said initially that it was because she realised the date for the memorial was wrong. There are ex JWs that do return because the religion has a strong hold on individuals. It may happen at any time, just as easily as she stopped being a JW, she may return. It can result in a great deal of unhappiness within a marriage.

I don't know how much time you have spent with this young lady but have you considered that you may have bombarded her with you Jewish ideas?

My guess is that your nephews fiancé is not a strong person at all.
Who knows, she might find some little Jewish teaching that she doesn't like and it wakes her up again.
picture 185,000 people on the streets attending the biggest event in long beach.
there is a main downtown street which is the only way into the grand prix.
it’s chaos because it is not private property that can be contained; these are working boulevards with cars and people vying to get where they want to go.
They believe 'honest hearted ones' will find them. It sounds like predestination to me. But why bother with the preaching work when, if this was true, someone could simply stumble across their website or walk into a KH.
All they need to do is wear an open back pack with a JW org sign and 'Please take a brochure or ask me for a bible study' and they would get plenty of time to record. If they were working, they could include all that time. Their employer might not like it but if it was part of their worship they could probably get away with it. Going to college wouldn't be a problem since it would all be witnessing time. Even spending time shopping could be included. Even going on holidays could become a golden oportunity to witness, that cruise could prov to be very fruitful.
There would be a double benefit. It would encourage the JW to be on his best behaviour, knowing that with his sign, he would always be representing the organization. He's going to think twice before he flirts with someone other than his spouse or any other bad behaviours. That little back pack will be a constant reminder.
They would really stand out in public, a bright orange colour might be the go. It doesn't have to b a back pack, it could be some modified head gear or a shoulder bag, even a wide tie.
its been awhile since i've commented but i come by and read your posts about once a week.
so why do i need a pep talk ?
after almost 2 years into my fade these bastards won't give it a rest constant hang ups on my answering machine and today for the first time in about 6 months they come to my apartment complex but thankfully couldn't get in they did keep buzzing me so they were here looking for me.
Don't speak to them and don't let them visit. If they do manage to contact you, tell them to stop bothering you.
... and this time it was mine.. mrs. eden decided to part ways and leave home, and so our 25 year long partnership is now dissolving.
.
just another colateral damage in a long list of colateral damages from being raised in the "truth".
Sorry to hear that EdenOne and all strength to you as you move on. I hope your son is doing okay.
i hate the rule about if your mate cheats on you, and you have sex with them, you are not free to remarry because the sex means you forgave them and keeps you stuck with them!
i personally disagree and think it’s so controlling that they think they can dictate what goes on behind closed doors between two consenting, legally married married people.
and that they think they have the right to label what other people’s sex means.
They changed the definition of adultery so that it included more than intercourse. It was extended to include the manipulation of another persons sexual organs other than their marriage mate. According to them, the females breasts are not a sexual organ.
