Was J.F. Rutherford - Exonerated?

one of the cornerstones of the watchtower society's claims about the 1918 trial of joseph f. rutherford and seven other co-defendants, is that the trial was a travesty of justice, where the defendants were railroaded off to prison.. to make their point, the society has repeatedly stated that joseph rutherford and his fellow defendants were "exonerated" of all charges, and subsequently released from prison fully vindicated.

the society also attributed this 'victory' to jehovah's hand in matters, restoring the symbolic 'two witnesses' spoken of in revelation, and thereby, reactivating the kingdom preaching work.. what actually transpired is that the convicted defendants filed a petition for a "writ of error.

" (trial transcript, pages 1-10, parts 1-30 ) the writ of error was allowed by the trial court, judge howe, and granted by the district court judge chatfield, whom the society earlier objected to and had removed from their trial, because they felt he would not be fair to them.. what does this mean?

It's no coincidence that in the January 2019 Broadcast when discussing a brief history of the organization, they are now saying simply, that they were released from jail.

Another milestone for the organization to celebrate this year is 100 years since the release of Rutherford from prison and the appointment of the FDS.

they are barely keeping up with the birthrate!

so basically the org spent millions of dollars on their website and broadcasting so the only growth they are still getting comes from born ins and illiterate and superstitious folks from africa.

It also means that JW dot org, JW broadcasting and all their recent changes are a failure. Their whole business is supposed to be about recruiting people and they are failing.

The OP on this thread is very interesting as it discusses the KON and reasoning as to why the GB were not saying who they believed it is.

At the Annual Meeting four years ago Soctoma points out this comment as having been made by Geoffrey Jackson

Finally he dramatically
raised the question “So who is the King of the North?” The audience reacted to this question
with an anticipatory audible buzz. Just the reaction Jackson was hoping for. He followed this up
by saying “We can’t be sure - yet.” And then he raised expectations that when they get it figured
out they will make it known.

Scotoma then makes is own speculation as to why they wouldn't name the KON back then

They will probably defend their confusion over the King of the North because it cleared the way
for hundreds of thousands of new JW’s in Russia and its former republics. If they maintained the
stance that the King of the North was Russia they would have risked the work coming under a
ban. How could they be allowed to freely carry on their work and talk about Russia being the
evil King of the North? To be sure they don’t want to be too quick to send out the message that
Putin’s Russia is the King of the North that goes forth in a great rage to “annihilate and devote
many to destruction.”

Today, in Russia, the JWs are banned and it would appear that since the GB have nothing further to lose, they decided to reveal the KON as Russia in their recent Annual meeting.

i always get curious when someone posts an article from the wt.

so i end up going there to look around at the whole article and find other things that are curiouser and couriouser.. certainly, god’s thinking is superior to that of today’s world.

living by his thoughts will bring us the greatest happiness and success.

Great news, the FDS says it won't excercise control over a persons thinking. Now we will begin to see JW men with beards, JW women wearing slacks in field work and at the halls, they'll be celebrating birthdays and the list goes on.

I've seen some beautiful bouquets but they all have one thing in common - they last for a very short time.

Saying hello again

just saying i’m still alive and greeting everyone, veterans and newcomers to this forum.. 2018 was a year with a lot of turmoil in my life; me and my wife separated, then reunited months later, and spent the second half of the year healing the emotional wounds from that episode.

that, along with a record year in terms of my business meant that choices had to be made regarding my time, and i decided to focus on my marriage instead of other endeavours.

it seemed to have paid off.

Printed vs Produced

in the january 1, 2015 watchtower it says printing each issue 52,946,000 in 228 languages semimonthly.

in that 2016 #1 issue watchtower it says produced each issue 58,987,000 in 254 languages monthly.

what is the difference between printed and produced?.

I think 'printed' means the actual physical numbers printed - hard copies.

'Produced' is anything they want it to mean. This includes both the number of physical copies they print plus the number accessed online, however they choose to count that.

New Year's Day Party

for what it's worth:.

we just held our 3rd annual new year's day party.. we kept the list down to thirty invites this year with the provision that they could bring guests.

so the final count was well up there.

If Sir82 is right then could we see Walkill or Patterson be sold off entirely? They are printing significantly less than what they were just a few years ago.
