yes, bible prophecies suggest that there would be disasters during “the conclusion of the system of things,” or “the last days.” (matthew 24:3; 2 timothy 3:1) for example, concerning our time, jesus said: “there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.” (matthew 24:7).
that from their website this morning.. i see how they've morphed (by interpretation) food shortages and earthquakes into virtually all bad happenings today.. i'll bet if the "blue bonnet" (one elder's fractured pronunciation of bubonic during a public talk, using it not once but three times) plague, one of which happened nearly 700 years ago -- was going on today, it would be a sign of the times.
after all, it "caused the death of 60% of the population of europe".. no natural devastation like that seen since..

i bring this up now because i haven't seen any postings about that practice because i got out in 1977. when did wt quit soliciting private homes for accomodations?
or have they stopped?.
i hated it, but it was the only way we could afford to go.
In the early 70s they held a large Convention in the middle of nowhere. It took us over 5 hours from Melbourne to get there. It was in a little town called Wagga Wagga.
We stayed on a farm and there was no electricity.
No doubt they got the grounds really cheap.

zing.
It upsets me that John Redwood asks for victims to contact him personally. Lloyd Evens has done this in the past as well. I confronted him about it on JW Reddit and he denied it until I linked his post from several years previously. It's not appropriate.
rutherford ruled the watchtower organization from 1916 to 1942, traveled extensively, had several residences, most notably, beth sarim.
but absent always was his wife, mary, not to mention his son, malcolm as well.. ok, rutherford was so well known, why did no one inquire about his son and wife?.
when rutherford resided at beth sarim in san diego, why was his wife not there with him?
Farkel - It is also true that neither Mary nor Malcolm attended old Joe's funeral. In fact only FOUR people attended the funeral of this so-called "world Bible expert." Knorr and Franz did not even bother to attend his funeral.
i won’t steal barb’s thunder, but has anyone had a chance to peruse the appeal that watchtower launched yesterday?.
watchtower’s main argument is that stuff was said in confidence with confidentiality surrounding that confidence and they are confident that clergy confidentiality which is in confidence is confidential.. in short, it ‘was a secret and should stay a secret.’.
omg.. and watchtower claims that this verdict “violates the constitution of the usa”.. i wish the jury could tack on another $50m and include watchtower lawyers are to be hanged.. i just had to say something.
Claiming that a Court has acted unlawfully is very disrespectful, to say the least.

Page 7 of the Court document states "Jehovah's Witnesses believe confession of sin is essential to salvation and confidentiality promotes confession".
It takes a Court case against them for them to be very clear in what they really teach.

I wonder, their practice of being secretive may be legal under the law but surely, if their practice causes harm then they should be accountable for that.
As an example, it is legal for a person to drive below the speed limit but if their driving is wreck less and causes an accident then they are liable for the damages.

Poor bloke, maybe he was over stressed because he knew the match was all wrong.
spotted this question on another site.
my first thought was "please don't give the local elders another excuse to badger those leaving.
" mind you we haven't signed non-disclosure agreements like this person did.. https://www.cultnews101.com/2019/05/can-i-be-sued-by-former-cult-i-was.html?m=1 .
They wouldn't because that would easily identify them as a secret society and another identifier as being a cult, all in writing.
It would also scare off newbies.
i need your help please, for an article i'm writing.. i believe that quite recently in the 2010's, possibly at one of the annual meetings of the watchtower, there was one speech (or was it in a publication?
in a broadcast?
) where it was stated that the "organisation is our mother".
I think there was a convention demonstration a number of years ago, where an Elder was talking to a Brother about his study and was telling him how important it was to tell his study that he must come to the organisation. They used the term mother organisation.
It may have something to do with this thread discussion
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/230590/our-spiritual-mother
The demonstration stood out because it seemed that they were referring to the earthly organisation as being referred to as 'mother'. There was some discussion on here about it at the time.
