you are a city manager in a major metropolitan city with a population of 3,000,000.. .

if the governing body was truly convinced themselves of the impending disaster and the fact that the end is imminent would they not focus their efforts in spreading the message through effective means such as telephone, television, internet, social networks etc?

They would have also known nearly all the facts of the terrorist attack. Would any of them use their heads and try and spread the warning via other more practical methods? Because of their prior knowledge they took their own precautions to make sure they didn't suffer from the contaminated water. Because they didn't want to lose their jobs they carried out the bosses orders on how to warn others.

How would you feel about the 3,000 employees?

It's not so straight forward where the employees are concerned as it is more than their jobs at stake. It probably would be equivalant to their being told that they are forbidden to take matters into their own hands, they have to follow their boses instructions to the T or else they're out, they'll be confined to a cell for insubornination where they will have contact with no-one, including their family and friends.

i was brought up as a jws.

served as an elder and special pioneer attended the ministerial training school been an instructor of the pioneer school till disassociating myself from the borg in 1994.. being an active jws is not an easy life and involves all your time, hardly you have time for yourself.

Sounds like you caused a bit of a stir Designs. So sad that they have to resort to laying traps. One could be forgiven for thinking that many actually enjoy doing this and convincing themselves that they have a right to do it and it needs to be done. Their defence is that they are caring for the flock. What really strikes me as odd is that this bunch of men are actually acting like a bunch of women. (I don't mean to offend women as I am one but I know how cunning we can be).

Sapphy wrote Everyone had to put their hands up to show how they came in the troof. About 40% were born in, 40% came in through 'informal contact' & only 20% through door2door.

Isn't it ironic that they would probbly get more followers if more JWs worked in large corporations and displayed a high moral standing and consideration for their fellow workers.

When you look at those stats they do not make sense if the JWs really were God's one and only chanel. As 40% are born in it would mean that love for God and his Kingdom is hereditary.

that's 7,000,000,000,000 living human beings on this planet.

You would be right Curtains, I googled it before I wrote the above. The long scale is British and the short scale is American, it makes it very difficult when they report in the newspapers using Billion or Trillion and they don't often make it clear which scale they are using.

The Population figure of 7 billion is 7,000,000,000

Ex Special Pioneer wrote several letters to the Branch Office and Headquarters asking for information that was never sent

Rutherfood sounds like a very hard man but Russell intrigues me and I should do some more research on his works, even though he had his dates all wrong he comes across as being sincere in his efforts.

It must be quite difficult for the org to deal with letters, they would have to be extremely careful in what they wrote and then have it double checked. Your questions were probably too difficult to deal with but at the very least they could have written back and passed the buck by telling you to ask another elder. But it is telling because nothing should be too difficult for them to answer and if they don't know the answers then they should have the honesty and humility to tell you.

WTBTS Elder & Ministerial Servant Problems

i attended a recent ministerial servant k m school on the east coast and the main school instructor mentioned among other things (part entitled: 'objective of the km school course') that the total number of ministerial servants is seriously less than it should be.

in times past the ratio of m ss to elders was much more than it is today.. in the u.s. apparently the total number of elders is 88,500+ as opposed to m ss 65,000. the numbers show & numbers don't lie: the society is running out of spiritual men.

the instructor stated that this is a new downward trend that has (in so many words) the society worried.. the next speaker (part entitled: 'why we must be spiritual men') added that in his years as a traveling servant the pool of m ss has always been much, much larger than it is today.

Seems like they've had to hold out that carot by rewarding their faithful men by promoting them to elders. Now they're top heavy. Personally I think it is better to go for quality and not quantity. The benefits in having a large number means that they can share the load better and learn not to squable amongst themselves, hopefully it has given more time for them to devote to their families. A very bad side of this is the mens qualifications which would be lacking in many areas (but as they're supposed to have been appointed by holy spirit I guess this is not an issue). These guys have life and death (as the have to administer the directions of the org) and the health and welfare of many people in their hands.

How they ended up with so many more elders than MS's shows some poor organisation there, unless it was intentional. They should have been looking closer at their own figures that have been so carefully and regularly reported to them.
