The more I think about this photo it becomes disturbing. The way they have all conformed to a particular dress standard is not surprising but very outdated in this day and age, particularly with the men all dressed in suits, shirts and ties (except for one who is missing their jacket. The age of this group is a bit strange, there are more men, no young ones and no old people.
What disturbs me is the lack of bibles, it is possible that the guy with the grey suit and probably the oldest of the bunch may have his hand resting on a bible but it is not clear.
Is it normal in the meetings to have both a KM and a book being referred to at the same time? The problem with this is that it does not make it possible to 'juggle' a bible as well. The most dominant aspect of this photo is the org's publications and the attention paid to the speaker who is only using these as teaching aids.
The other weird aspect, as has already been mentioned, is the examination of this picture at the meeting and this means that individuals must form a judgement based purely on what they are seeing. That is all about outward appearances.

This really just demonstrates how you can simply make up your own pro's and con's and direct the results to any conclusion that you wish. This is what they are good at.

In the LAST DAYS (mockers, scoffers) ridiculers will come saying:
by Terry in(2 peter 3:1-13) ... niv....."in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.they will say, where is this coming he promised?
ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.
waaaaay back when these words were written an embarassing awareness of delay was in the air among christians.. shortly after jesus was executed the story was circulated that he arose from the dead and was witnessed by a great many people.. but, jesus (it was said) went up to his father in heaven and would soon return.. time passed.. more time passed.. ....and still more time passed without jesus coming back.. the idea that deliverance was "near" began to make believers squirm with discomfort.. instead of standing around waiting, enduring persecution and praying constantly for reward....a new task emerged for christians to take.

What an eye opener.
The Sydney article not once mentions the abuse, killing and enslavement of the original Sydney land occupiers, the aboriginies. On the other hand it glorifies several man-made constructions.

"Feeling sorry for yourself" about being hit by your husband is not Christian 2/15/12 WT Page 25 P 12
by yourmomma inhave anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

The bible tells us to love our neighbours as ourselves. It is right for us to love ourselves, it is natural and the order of things.
An abusive partner slowly destroys the spirit of their partner in their aim to get total submission. There is a downward spiral as the victim begins to feel worthless, loses their self confidence and helpless.
If a woman finds herself falling into the depths of despair then she has every right, according to God's order of things to do what she can to get away from this abuse, both for the sake of herself and her children.

"Manhattan Project...it was acknowledged at the meeting that the previous worldly use of
this term cost millions of lives (in producing the atom bomb); but this new
use of the phrase intends to instead SAVE many lives...)How about respecting the millions dead and chose a different name?
We are certainly NOT looking for any confrontation to be on the news,
such as those Wall Street confrontations in the world. They why call it the Manhattan Project?Jehovah whittled down Gideon's army from 32,000 to
only 300. How did the Bible instruct to select them? Gideon's men were
chosen because of their ALERTNESS and their concern for true worshipSo if you're not chosen then you have been individualled judged and assessed not to have these qualities.
Each Zone will be under the oversight of one of four 'Couple' grads (who at
present still don't even have their housing arrangements settled down!
That's an indication of the urgency of this project, due to the fact that
we're living in the time of the end.)They have only four couples to find homes for and have not been able to do this, even though they have spent time establishing the project, printing extra bibles, calling for expressions of interest and training these couples. But the most interesting part of this is they are actually putting females in charge of 'a zone'. Will this mean that they will be directing the brothers within their zone?
We are NOT official representatives of
an organization; the Branch will NOT do this for us.Amazing how they can seperate volunteers from the organization.
the Circuit Overseers and their wives who have
been so instrumental in getting "legs" to this Manhattan Project; teaching
us by enacting the "do's" and the "don'ts".The CO wives have been 'teaching' - I hope they were wearing head coverings.

The Dog that did not bark: Jehovah's Witnesses' greatest mystery
by Terry in'the dog that didn't bark' is an expression from a sherlock holmes mystery.
it was an important clue that led to identifying the criminal.. it seems that the killer entered and left the estate grounds one night but without the guard dog barking an alarm at the intruder's presence as expected.. from this nonevent holmes reasoned that the dog must have known the killer and that clue led to solving the case.. .
jehovah's witnesses are "the dog that didn't bark.".

I am really enjoying this thread, thanks Terry.
It is ironic to think that even though Rutherford may have recognized Russel as the F&DS he never credited him with the actual appointment/approval as this supposedly occurred in 1918/1919 - a few years after Russel's death.
Your discussion certainly shows that history is very important.
