If the GB had any real concern for their organisation they would face up to their responsibities and resign. It's just amazing that they expect the r&f to dig them out of this problem and give them even more money.
yesterday right out of the blue i received an email from my cousin a now former jw who i hadn't heard from in over 25 years.
he got my email address of another non related jw website that i posted on.
he is not disfellowshiped because he said he dug up all sorts of dirt on the body of elders before he divorced his wife and remarried so in my opinion this guy is not classified as a fader but wants nothing to do with the truth.
i asked if the new britain branch construction had stopped, and i was told that "the governing body instructed us to cease all work on the project.".

i keep seeing references to the 750 million in sales of the nyc properties and confusion around the apparent cash flow problems of the wtbt society.

if they went, to a bank and asked for loans for the buildings here's what a bank would say, "absolutely.
I think you are right defianttruth, they must have borrowed against properties they already owned and were at a point when they couldn't afford even the interest repayments. It explains why they had to sell their New York property at a time which was far from ideal and when property prices had slumped.
It is interesting that they have listed themselves as a printing and construction business. All they need now is for the IRS to pick up on it and start taxing them on the sale of their buildings.

a good source just just told me that at morning worship today that the governing body announced that a total of 1600 bethelites will be let get go and not transferred to warwich when the last property is sold in brooklyn and all kingdom hall building projects are on hold for at least a year so that all the focus will be on the preaching work.
Is this just a WTBTS tactic. All this stopped work with just over a week to go to the Annual Meeting.
Are they planning to beg for more money at the meeting and tell the r&f that they are in such a pickle that they have had to cancel projects, proving that they desperately need every penny they can get? They've already stooped as low as asking kids for their ice cream money.
They are going to have to come clean at some stage to say how badly off they are but not without a fight and I can't think of a better opportunity than to use the annual meeting as an instant fund raising excercise. Then like magic, the money will come pouring in in their hour of need and all these projects can recommence with little disruption.
They'll be able to spin it all and the r&f will be cheering them on, they won't be throwing their money into the streets but into the mouth of the hungry org.
ok, pretty much all of us have heard some of the 10 track cancelled album featuring george benson and others, the most popular track of which is probably "we must be holy" with the celine dion soundalike.
not much is known about it, but i always assumed it was just a george benson nonprofit hobby project.
tonight, however, i read a post from user dncall who says he regularly contributed to wt music projects, including co-composing the soundtrack to jehovah's witnesses stand firm against nazi assault.
Wow, I had no idea that George Benson recorded some Kingdom Melodies but that's not what surprises me but the fact that the Org. told the r&f not to download it or circulate it.

I would just like to take the opportunity to thank Simon for maintaining this site and how valuable it is when researching just about any topic to do with JWs. I hope it is never lost.
as i've mentioned from time to time, i'm a retired accountant.
i have tried many times to come up with some logical, sound business reason why the wtbs has made the big changes in its financial arrangements: taking the congregations savings, the monthly donations per congregation etc.
i finally came up with the answer.. the leadership of the watchtower society is batshit crazy.
This is another good reason why the GB agreed to resign as Directors from the WTBTS in 2000 BUT it wasn't enough.
In 2013 when it must have become painfully obvious to them that they could be blamed and held accountable for the mismanagement of finances they made another huge change.
They resigned from their position as having been appointed over all Christ's earthly belongings which included all the physical assets and finances.

Someone mentioned that this speech was given 3 months ago. It would seem that there are people high up in the organization who wants to see AM III taken down. Why else would they make public such a ridiculous speech?
Interestingly, the last monthly GB broadcast that AMIII presented has him slurring his speech less, following the script closely and presenting himself better, he seems to have taken his critics to heart and is trying to improve. Then this video is published.

Morris suggests that the GB do not create dogma but they do create decrees.
Basically what he is saying that what they teach is not dogma but decrees however it doesn't matter anyway because even if you don't understand it (and Morris suggests that you try) you must obey it.
He is also saying that the GB is doing their job as the FDS and it is up to the congregations, elders and individuals to obey it. Only by obeying them will they be blessed and that will be demonstrated by an increase in followers. Therefore it's not the GBs fault if numbers aren't increasing, it's the rank & file's.
