It's only the Watchtower that decided saluting the flag or singing a national anthem was taking a vow of allegience. How is it even a vow? On top of this they then equate it as a form of worship or devotion. It is neither but because they say it is it becomes wrong. A JW is now under the impression that anyone saluting a flag is worshipping it and are judging that person as doing something wrong when they aren't.

Hypocrisy of JW.org at this week's book study
by UnshackleTheChains ina paragraph taken from this week's study of 'gods kingdom rules.
15 jehovah’s people remain loyal to the messianic kingdom not only by refusing military service but also by respectfully declining to join in nationalistic ceremonies.
especially since the outbreak of world war ii, a wave of nationalistic fervor has swept the globe.

When they say "child abuse is abhorrent to us", who exactly is this 'us'? It can't be their organisation because there are those within it who practice it.

Watchtower teaches that Jesus dying on the stake is no longer certain
by Listener inthe watchtower has held for many years that jesus died on a stake and held strongly to this teaching.
w 1951 3/15 the above agrees with the new world translation of the christian greek scriptures in its appendix, page 769, in saying that the instrument upon which jesus was nailed was a stake without a crossbeam, and not the religiously represented “cross”; and that the greek word used for that instrument in ancient time meant a “stake” and not the conventional religious cross.
they are no longer certain on this point.

They are no longer certain on this point. This is from their website on the question of whether Jesus died on a cross or stakeMany view the cross as the most common symbol of Christianity. However, the Bible does not describe the instrument of Jesus’ death, so no one can know its shape with absolute certainty.
This is an issue that was strongly upheld when going out in field work. So many arguments would have been prevented if we could have said that there is no absolute certainty on the matter. -

If the prosecutor proves that the transactions were concluded in order to avoid enforcement of the judgment, and not for gratuitous gift, the State will be able to assign the property. "
The Watchtower organization is happy to participate in criminal activity. -

My parents found out
by BlackWolf inso in my last post i talked about how i had told my younger siblings how i didn't plan to get baptized or ever be a witness.
i thought i could trust them but i guess i was wrong, they're just kids after all.
my oldest brother (who's 11) told on me today.

I guess he got mad because lately he's been wanting to get baptized and I told him he should wait a few years. The only reason I told him this was because I asked him why he wanted to do it and he couldn't come up with a reason. All he said was "Idk, I just want to get baptized" over and over. He's just like my sister, he does whatever he's told.
You're right to get mad and even madder if your parents let him. It's dead obvious he doesn't have the personal capacity to make this life altering decision. Tight pants Tony and others are to blame for this.
As to your parents wanting you to 'fake' your interest, you've really got to wonder where their mind is in all of this. Is it possible that one of your parents are just in it to keep the family harmonious? -

Looking at the first photo in the OP, it doesn't look very dignified or discreet.
One of the Asian ladies is pictured arm in arm with Lett which I suppose, if they personally know each other would be a different matter. It's obviously fine with him to have it plastered on the internet But the thumbs up from this lady has got me laughing, he probably didn't see her do that but they're not doing a great job in making the r&f more respectful of their great leaders.
Poor Lett, he comes off as being so gullible and this photo highlights that.
His 40+ year old tie and pocket square is so cutesy. -

The Searcher started a topic addressing the GT, a comment from Sparrowdown asked an interesting question -
"...the political powers of satan's world will form a coalition..."
That's the statement that interests me. What are they alluding to?When we compare all these Scriptural references about the final attack on God’s people, it becomes evident that the name Gog of Magog refers, not to Satan, but to a coalition of nations. W 15
I thought I would do some research after seeing Sparrodown's question and although I cannot answer it, I noticed that they are now teaching that there are two future Gog's of Magog.
The first exists during the GT and is the Coalition of nations that attack God's people as mentioned in the quote above. The article also explains that this coalition has murderous intentions towards God's people.
They are guessing that this coalition will be lead by the King of the North but it's only a guess. Regardless, they will be destroyed during the GT.
Their is another mention of Gog of Magog at Revelation 20:8. They are claiming that this is a different Gog of Magog (a second Gog of Magog). This one has the same 'murderous attitude as the original Gog of Magog. Those with this 'murderous attitude' are humans and exist during the testing period at the end of the 1.000 year rule of Christ and will also be destroyed. But who is referred to as “Gog and Magog” at Revelation 20:8? During the final test at the end of the 1,000 years, those who rebel against Jehovah will manifest the same murderous attitude as ‘Gog of Magog,’ those nations that attack God’s people at the end of the great tribulation. And the outcome for both groups will be exactly the same—everlasting death! (Rev. 19:20, 21; 20:9) It seems fitting, then, that all those rebels at the end of the Millennium be called “Gog and Magog.”W 2015
For further evidence of there now being two Gog's of Magog in JW teaching, the two charts in the 2015 Watchtower shows them clearly, one during the GT and one at the end of the 1,000 years. What's even weirder is that they are assuming that the first Gog of Magog is not Satan based on the idea that the second Gog of Magog not being Satan
We are told that at the end of the 1,000 years, Satan will be released from the abyss, and “he will go out to mislead those nations in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war.” (Rev. 20:8) But how can Satan mislead Gog if he himself is Gog? Therefore, “Gog” does not refer to Satan in either Ezekiel’s prophecy or the book of Revelation. W 2015
At least with the old light when Gog of Magog was believed to be Satan, it was easier to understand as he was not destroyed during the GT, only sent to the abyss and later released at the end of the 1,000 years to be finally destroyed. Since they changed it's identity they needed to create two future Gog's of Magog and decided that neither one was Satan.
They're 'new light' or new interpretations are even more confusing and makes less sense than their 'old light'. But it's funny that they can identify these two future groups representing Gog of Magog but now have no idea who the King of the North is.

The "faithful slave" urges confession in latest Watchtower!

Genuine love moves Christians who have committed serious sins to speak [confess] to the elders.....
Where is the dividing line between a serious sin and not so serious sin and why should only serious sins be told to Elders? There is no biblical requirement to confess to Elders. Since they try to base it on some 'pulled out of the hat' biblical principles then I applied equally to minor sins as well as major sins.
Personally, I always thought that if I had done something bad to another person I should be seeking their forgiveness, going to a confessional or third party was unlikely to achieve anything.
This arrangement gives the Elders power and a level of importance, making their positions more enviable.
