"We never solicit donations" - really?
by doubtfull1799 ininspired by this weeks clam article which again "reminds" the brothers pdf their obligation/privilege to donate "voluntarily" i have complied a list of articles or videos in the last 5 years where donations are indeed solicited or encouraged.
the society may argue that these are not actual solicitations because no plate was passed around.
but a donation box is just a more discrete and subtle version of the plate.

Due to the increase we have witnessed over the past few years, a number of circuits have grown. Also, many of our foreign-language congregations are now part of European-wide circuits enjoying circuit visits in their own language. To ensure that circuits in Britain and Ireland are a similar size, commencing September 1, 2018, the majority of circuits will be adjusted and renamed.
They are doing a remarkable job in the selling of Kingdom Halls and amalgamating of congregations with all this increase over the past few years.
Since the change in circuits will take place from Sept. 1, 2018, it may indicate that there is still a lot of ongoing work in Kingdom Hall sales and adjusting sizes of congregations and much of it will settle down after that date. -

That's a novel way to sell their products at Starbucks but I wonder how many people would be interested in going into their store and wasting time looking up items and info on their phones.
Call me old fashioned but I'd prefer to see items with labels and a short description physically next to or on it.
Like everything, a new craze comes out and the crowd gets excited. Some work and some don't.
Twenty years ago I could never have imagined being able to order groceries online and having it delivered. We've got to wait until the next day but that's not much of a problem.

Real estate worth almost US$15 million belonging to Jehovah’s Witnesses around St. Petersburg have been transferred to the Russian state, after the organization was declared an “extremist” group earlier this year.A District Court in St. Petersburg seized 16 properties in the village of Solnechnoye on the Gulf of Finland, that it ruled were used illegally by the organization. The real estate, with an estimated combined value of $14.9 million (881 billion rubles), belonged to the ‘Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania’ (WTPA) – the official legal entity used by Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide.

In March, Russia’s Justice Ministry suspended the activities of the Jehovah’s Witnesses after some of its practices and beliefs were found to constitute a threat to society and public security. Some of the sects practices include strictly forbidding blood transfusion believing it to be sinful, and doctors cannot carry out the procedure without patient’s consent. Many parents who are Jehovah’s Witnesses will also not let their children undergo blood transfusions, placing their lives in mortal danger.
A month after the justice ministry’s action, the Supreme Court declared the group an “extremist organization,” liquidating the movement’s Russian headquarters in St. Petersburg. It further banned some 395 local religious organizations spread across Russia. The court also ordered their properties to be seized by the state.

Contrary to official statements on the inviolability of private property in the Russian Federation, the prosecutor's office by its actions damages the country's business reputation. No one can feel protected in a state in which the property rights of even foreign associations on an international scale are openly violated.
