Ah yes, don't forget the notes! All the bible verses written out so you don't have to look them up, and thus miss the context. My dad uses a footnote system for that, each scripture gets a little number.

What the WT requires for reinstatement
by sabastious init's creepy that they require you to "study" for all meetings and show that you "underlined" to get reinstated.. think about that for a second.
before they let you back in they make you prove that you have been at least partially re-indoctrinated.. i mean, in the end, what does "underlining" really prove?
true repentance?

The watchtower eats humble pie in trying to locate and reinstate all those wrongly disfellowshiped?
by still wondering inwhat happens when the rules regarding medical treatment are changed because it is now decided that the watchtower god does allows certain blood fractions after all but which formerly the wts said would offend him so much that offenders would be sent to gehenna?.
blood serums are just one example.
in 1954 the societys ruling on blood serums disallowed their use because using blood serums was displeasing to god.

Admitting to wrongly disfellowshipping someone would be admitting that the "holy spirit" that directs them was wrong, wouldn't it?

If you're a worldly and you are informed about the Watchtower
by dgp inif i, as a non-witness, tried to tell my friends and family about what i have learned on this site and elsewhere about the watchtower, some would listen for a while, but the vast majority of them, if not all, would have trouble understanding why i should become and remain interested in such a subject at all.
many would tell me that everyone knows witnesses are crazy anyways, and that i surely could use my time on more productive endeavors.. .
it's very sad, but many people would tell me that witnesses are witnesses because they want to.

People in general don't understand cults. They don't get that there is no full disclosure before joining and no freedom to leave without serious consequences. If they do realize that, then they assume that person was weak or stupid for joining. As an American, I find it appalling that groups like these are able to take away our basic rights and still exist. But there's no easy way to fix that or even get people to really care about it.
I do think more exposure and more voices will definitely help. So thanks for adding yours!

I haven't read it but it sounds interesting, especially that the author studied Buddhism. I'm really drawn to that after reading some books by the 14th Dalai Lama. I don't know what gnosticism is though.
Where did you find it? It's $55 on amazon.

KS Blood-Handout s-55-e (PDF)!!!
by yknot inwe interrupt your forum posting for this 'just in' item...... it appears an elder has not locked his doctor's bag and a member of the conscious class has brazeningly swiped & scanned a copy of the s-55e.
(((thank you anonymous cc jw!.
for the purpose of our bethel audience i want to assure you no actual elder was willingly involved in the obtaining of this scan.. link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/mnf7a0.

Thanks, yknot!
First paragraph, they acknowledge who this is most likely to affect (die because of it!) children and mothers.

Yep! It's so weird looking back. Still remember the family study that led to that. Of course we'll do it, it'll make everyone so happy and proud of us!

I was 12 too! My brother was 10 and my sister was 8. We all got baptized at the same time.
Added: We were perfect little elder kids. My sis and I were disfellowshipped at the same time 6 years later.

America's Most Wanted profiles JW Elder Child Molester
by out4good3 inlast night on amw, they profiled the jw elder child molester.
they detailed how he'd planned to be on the run by stashing money all around his house, how he quickly got a divorce when he was being investigated, sold off his assets in a race car business and disappeared.
one lady interviewed incognito, told of how he was a trusted member in the congregation with privileges.. did anyone else see this segment?

Maybe you don't have to tell them...if they pressuring you to get baptized, tell them Jesus waited till he was 30, it's an important life decision with serious consequences if you mess up, and you're just not ready yet.
And yeah, non-JW kids have it easier in a lot of ways. But you have experiences they've never had, so you learn things about life they may never learn. And if you're planning on leaving, prepare for it. I can't stress that enough. There are so many things I wish I'd done differently. Save up some money, build up your credit, apply for college, make genuine friends outside the organization. Plan now to make things easier later.
And losing your family is...well, it sucks. Big hairy ones. But it's not your fault. It's the religion. You will survive it, so many of us here have. And you get to make your own life, you get to love people for who they are, not their status as a witness. You get to do what makes you happy.
