DagothUr,
Do you have chickens too?
we recently had a tour here in new zealand from the musical legend herbie hancock.
during the tour he engaged in a media interview where he expressed himself about the effects of the internet on the global community.. he spoke with intelligence and refreshing optimism about the potential of the internet and the opportunities it opens up for the world community.. in short (and i'm going only from memory here), he expressed how he felt the drawing together of individuals through the internet, and the opportunity for large groups of people to speak with a combined voice, had the capacity to initiate major change.
he highlighted the further potential for large, instantaneous, interest groups, to both highlight issues and bring pressure on world leaders to initiate change.. a recent example is the petitioning of ugandan govt officials regarding the proposed harsh anti-gay legislation being presented before the ugandan parliament.
Absolutely! What have we had that even compares? I signed the Ugandan petition too. I watched a story unfold in the past two weeks that the ACLU is now making a case about, that was driven purely by an online community. It's powerful. I can add my voice to support anything I want around the world. I can learn anything now too (seen Khan Academy?). The negative is filtering out the trash, but first you need the skills to do that. I don't think most of our kids are learning those skills and that could be dangerous.
This reminds me of another story. This is how I think of the internet as far as protesting and changing things but a whole lot bigger. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-13543433
Then one day, extraordinarily, a guard handed her a postcard.
"It just said 'Dear Maria. Thinking of you. Margaret.' And an address in Scotland."
She told the guards the card could not be for her because she didn't know anyone in Scotland. But they insisted it was indeed addressed to her.
A few days later another card came, this time from France. Then one from Canada. The next was from the United States.
Under pressure
Soon they were coming in a torrent.
At one point the guards said they would give her just some of the latest to arrive. They then handed her 900 cards.
Eventually Maria was shown a room half filled with sacks of mail addressed to her.
She was left in no doubt that all this attention had become a problem, and she was released after a year.
this was mainly referring to religious mythology.
satan is the author and orchestrator of false religion.
pauls warning about false stories is part of his first letter to timothy, a christian overseer who was charged with preserving the purity of the congregation and helping fellow believers to remain faithful.
Interesting. I wonder if my parents say the same thing to themselves. Guess that would make it easier.
The New System is right around the corner. When this world becomes a paradise, you will have soon forgotten about Nina and Mary. Jehovah will bless Gina and yourself with new children, perfect children that love you both, but above all, love and serve Jehovah.

Bacon and beef are rare treats in my house. If I have to get it, I'll buy the cheap kind which usually burns before it crisps it's so thin. I swear it would be cheaper to raise a pig than buy pork anymore. They eat pretty much anything, garbage disposals. And I bet they would taste a whole lot better. Our pork is really, really lean compared to other countries because they were bred that way. Lean=less flavor, really easy to overcook.
Sam, if you really decide to raise pigs, consider heirloom breeds. I hear they taste great, like grass-fed beef is to grocery store beef. They're priced like they taste great. How cool would it be to raise overpriced gourmet meat in your own backyard?
i've heard the distinction between microevolution and macroevolution a lot, especially from intelligent design arguments.
microevolution being defined as changes or adaption within a species, and macroevolution being changes from one species to another.
my impression is that there really is no such meaningfule distinction between macro and micro in the modern scientific sense of evolutionary theory.
I've never understood how it's possible to accept micro but not macro given that one logically results in the other.
there are 3 really basic releases for the dc this year.
revised vol 1 of young people ask.................hmmm lot of work in that one.
new brochure.
I used it a lot when I was arguing with JWs on facebook. It's a lot easier than digging through the library.
.
hell is pretty much out of vogue these days so if this rabid atheist decidedly turns his back on god and/or christ what will become of me?.
Godrulz, please verify that what you're saying about evolution is correct, otherwise there's no point in arguing it.
Here are some sites I found helpful: http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/article/evo_01

Oh yeah, I forgot about the school and service meeting. Well, that doesn't make much sense.

I was still in in 2001 and wasn't aware of that. Not surprising really. I learned that last year though.
I wonder too why they haven't updated the Reasoning book. Maybe no one really uses them anymore, either because they never have the opportunity or they're aware it's old light. I have seen JWs on facebook use it with other JWs though. Maybe they'll release something that completely replaces it.
So this is unusual. Oh, I hope, hope, hope someone gets a copy of this somehow.
i briefly touched on the drama in another post, but i felt i needed to share in greater detail this latest masterpiece.. .
this was the drama on sunday.
the story alternates between the story of joseph, son of jacob, and a witness kid (forgot his name;billy?
I love how convention dramas always makes R&F JWs the most HOTTEST and WANTED people on earth.
Satan wants them. . . wants them sooo bad! But only in their own minds.
