On the basis of your posts in this thread alone, you seem to throw disparaging remarks around with abandon, godrulz. If someone sees things differently from you, he is a fool, a moron or a dope. Your words. You seem also to accuse others of ad hominem attacks against you when you employ them with considerable facility yourself. The real fool is one who takes the testimony of men at its face value. There's no doubt you truly believe what you believe, but that doesn't make it truth any more than what the 9/11 zealots believed was true, even if they were prepared to die and murder for it. If you are offended by being compared to that murderous lot consider this. They were so convinced that what they believed was true that they immolated thousands of innocents along with themselves to demonstrate it. Are you really that different from them? I don't think so. Take your beliefs onto yourself and try not to burden others with them, in particular those who don't want to hear them. This is a site of healing for most people, not an opportunity to troll for damaged souls who are vulnerable to a form of predation so very similar to what they escaped.

by Star tiger ini know from my own experience that i would be a total f**k up, i would have taken the entire family into the borg, after my guilt after leaving this several years ago i am totally grateful to her for the rejection of my previous beliefs, i would have subjected the children to all the self esteem eroding ideas of a few old men in the governing body!.
i think i'm probably now a humanist, with respect for the here and now and trying to cope with the idea that people don't live forever as i see it in my weekend job of working in a nursing home, and feeling utter disgust at the governing bodies ideas at immortality which were totally wrong!.
i think it was robin williams that said if women were in control there would be no wars but intense negotiations every thirty days, lol.

It goes to the meaning of "lost sheep", MS. If it means those who have left cults and are lost, then I can agree with #4. If it means that I accept the biblical nuance of "sheep" (ie. that maintaining a belief in Christianity is a given in #4) then I'm not in. Helping someone escape the Watchtower or Salt Lake City only to find his/her way into another cult is not what I would think of as ideal. I would have to ponder the overall proposition before I would agree to help someone escape one cult for a much less distructive one - the lesser of two evils is still evil.

Parallels to The Borg in movies?

for those who haven't seen it, the plot takes place in a futuristic setting in los angeles where science has perfected human cloning.
the latest rage in medicine is to have a clone made and maintained for you should you ever need it for organ transplants.
