Worlds getting better, sadly the people on it are getting worse...
That seems to be a contradiction, snoozy.
a fundamental platform of the watchtower bible and tract society, from which its fearsome prognostications are launched, is the inexorable deterioration of the world.
the world is becoming a less and less hospitable place in which to live.
it seems with news of every earthquake, every natural catastrophe, every epidemic, every atrocity, and every disaster manmade or otherwise, there is the inevitable shaking of the finger and stern proclamation, "see?

Heard a story recently of a very obese, recently deceased elder who was so big they couldn't find a coffin big enough to bury him in. So they gave him an enema and buried him in a shoebox.

They're still using enemas in old age homes, where it's refered to as "surf and turf".
is it not true that the leaders knew that it was a blatant lie when the 1975 teaching was propagated in the 60's?.
Thank god for Youtube
Which one?
john w. loftus responds to the "angry atheist" assertion.
are we angry atheists?.
.. if we are angry, christians will see this as a sign we are god haters.
Here's a great example of strident atheists. The girl at the very beginning is practically frothing at the mouth. Truly scary woman.

Dawkins makes his "strident" observation about halfway through.

Was the 1974 pep talk recorded?
hello friends!.
once in a while you hear about fundie atheists, and i have desided to become one.
but i need a bit of advice.. you see, apparently the fundie atheists are as messed up as their worst religious "fundie" counterparts, so i got some expectations to live up to.. i have desided to focus on how i should raise my child, since the religious dickery i hate the most has to do with how children are raised.
I was the third of four kids and my elder sibs let the cat out of the bag when I was around that age. I was assured that I'd still get presents, chocolate eggs and money under my pillow, so I was completely ok with it. Unfortunately, my dad didn't tell me about there not being a God until I was in my 20's and already studying the Bible with the Witnesses. He admitted to himself, and to me, many years later that he had screwed up, but was deferring to my Roman Catholic mother and marital bliss. Would I have preferred to have been told as a child that God was as real as those other three characters? No, not really, Tammy. Because then I just might have become a fundy atheist who, like fundy Christians, believe what they believe only because their parents have told them to believe it. It was far, far better for me to have learned the truth on my own.

Allow your children to be children.
Let them believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and God. Leave out milk and cookies on Christmas eve, hide chocolate eggs around the house once a year, exchange their freshly shed baby teeth for quarters under their pillows and let them pray for Jesus to keep their souls safe when they go to bed. Then, when they are old enough to process the information, around 7 or 8, let them know it was all make believe.

Many times atheists come across as being rather strident.
Perhaps a bit of a generalisation. However, an atheist even softly stating his conviction that god does not exist is interpreted as strident by many believers. I refer to Richard Dawkins' experiences in that regard.
Actually there is evidence. Whether or not you wish to accept it or not is your choice.
Examples, please.
Are you saying that those who believe in Yahweh are irrational because they believe in Him?
Perhaps rational, more likely delusional.
My overall impression of that last post is methinks thou dost protest too much.

When I hear the 1975-denyers I am incredulous. I was a 23 year old WT bible student in 1975. The atmosphere of anticipation during the big summer assembly I attended in that year can only be described as electric. In the minds of the people there the Apocalypse was going to happen very, very soon and they were nervous and excited. There were, it is true, words of caution being spoken, but they were couched in terms of things maybe taking a little bit longer to play out than most of the rank and file might have come to believe. When in 1976 my questions drew angry rebuffs from my "teachers" I pulled the plug on the WTBTS. What happened, and didn't happen, in 1975 helped open my eyes.
