The Two Governing Bodies
by Londo111 ini remember when a gb member spoke at a circuit assembly, how the society would not pick him up for the airport unless he was dressed in a suit.
i found it a strange thing to say, because i believed him in charge.
but he was not.. of course, this is common knowledge, but im mostly typing this to make sense of it:.

"Why would everyone be included this time...unless something special is about to happen?"
by Separation of Powers inso, i am talking to a long time friend, you know, the non-judgmental type that doesn't really mind that i don't go to many meetings and am never out in service.
he tells me that the annual meeting is coming up and that the whole congregation is invited...well, at least the active "approved" whole congregation.
he speaks with an excitement that puzzles me, like he just got invited to the locker room of his favorite football team when they won the superbowl.

Next thing you know they will be introducing new light that says those who are apostate will be in eternal torment in fiery hell.
Why not? When your playing Dungeons and Dragons you can do whatever you want.

My Grandparents and their 4 sons attended the 1935 convention where the 2 classes (and new name) were the electrifying bombshell "new light" introduced by the FDS serving "food at the proper time".
After that, my family referred to the Great Crowd as the "Jonadab" class...etc etc. I was born 10 years later and grew up with the residual energy still buzzing in my extended family.
I can't even imagine that the cult leaders are going to go back on the 144,000 HARD number that all JW's grew up with as the "TRUTH".
Is this truly what is happening? Forgive me, I don't keep up with all the latest light. One needs a scorecard to know wtf they are teaching from week to week.

wt 8/15/03: Easing Nature - Is it for Christians?
by Scully ineasing nature is it for christians?
easing nature the very phrase itself brings to mind the odious product of this activity.
yet, many people have the understanding that this natural bodily function is a practice in which true christians may engage.

Triggered a flashback to my first TMS assignment when I was eleven. It was a reading from Numbers of the David & Saul incident. In those days we used the King James bible and when Saul went into the cave it was "to bury his feet", In my intro. I had to explain what that meant. Never forgot that expression. I have used it a few times when I have excused myself from visitors or asked the host where I could bury my feet.

Well, your question , to be precise, was asked about 3.5 years ago.
I honestly can't remember.
At the moment, I am still enjoying the experience of sitting in the garden with my wife and watching the evening sky until the bats came out.
We love the fall.

THE DIVORCE OF THE CENTURY!
by JW GoneBad inso there is a rumor going around about 1914 and its possible demise!.
i cant help but think of the many and i say many divorces (not to make light of the matter) that jw families have had to deal with among their ranks over the years.. however, knowing how long the wtbts and 1914 have been together and the thought of mother (wtbts) doing away with her man (1914) after nearly 100 years of marriage is truly heart breaking for some.
many old-timers probably still think of the old days when they were like any other happy couple; inseparable, always holding hands, romantic and the like.

In a way, I admire the entire history and strategy of the cult. To have so completely bamboozled so many people for so long, in an "end of the world" fairy tale is hard to believe. This could never happened , of course, without the leverage of shunning and extreme commitments, i.e., flag salute, the draft, blood transfusions, voting, higher education, etc.
They have also benefitted from their playing up of natural events like earthquakes, wars, etc .
All the while pouring it into hard cash assets. Talking $ Billions
They have a lot of hard core followers who don't care anymore that the "Truth" is a Swiss Cheese. They are committed.

What gives you away as a (former) JW?
by perfect1 inthese days my jw past stay safely under wraps from nearly everyone.. i dont dig it up- and i see no need to talk about it with anyone.. sometimes i feel as if my past is a large and terrible secret, and i will be found out eventually.
people can sense i am different.
i never talk about my family.. i guess people chalk it up to being a private person or let me be a mystery.. however, there is one thing that i feel completely reveals me as having been raised a jehovahs witness:.
