In February I was on the north shore of Oahu. There was a surfing tournament going on and the waves were monsters. The house was right on the beach no more than 50 yards from the surf. About 10 pm the first night everyone else had gone to bed but I was still on the deck enjoying the moonlight, a little brandy and the roar of the surf. I was wearing sandals, shorts and a knit shirt and was about to turn in when I decided on an impulse to walk down the 5 steps to the beach and get my feet wet.

Just as I was ankle deep a good size sneaker came out of the dark and as I turned to scamper up the beach I found that my sandals had filled with sand and I tripped. The wave hit me in the ass and rolled me. Just as I managed to get up on my hands and knees another one knocked me down. It was at this point I felt I was in trouble and called out "Help!" . I could barely hear my own call due to the surf noise and knew that no one could hear me. A twinge of panic got me scrambling away from the sucking surf like a crab. After another brandy, shower and dry clothes I slept like a baby. Told the gang about it the next morning. Near death is strangely invigorating.

Another thing that even strong swimmers may not realize is that very cold river water can sap one's strength very quickly and swift currents can then overwhelm a swimmer.

Parroting in the meetings

in the one meeting i attended, i noticed that some witnesses were creative in the answers they gave to the questions, while others were simply repeating what the magazine said.

i remember that, at the time, i thought the creative ones were also the smart ones, while the others were lazy, and that no doubt the creative ones would rank higher in the watchtower.. well, i think i have changed my mind.

it seems to me that those parroting the questions are, in a way, the smart ones.

True story - When I was the WT study conductor I called on an older brother who rarely commented. When the microphone got to him he proclaimed, loudly and clearly, "I agree with the Watchtower comments!". He seemed emotionally moved and pleased with his proclamation.

Bacon...at Walmart, almost $6.00!!??

a month ago the same package was $3.50.

Yeah, the price is climbing. I was amazed when I went to buy bacon and sausage for the local mosque community outreach breakast last Sunday. But the quality was A+, no complaints.

wow, it's hard to believe it's already been about a year since this subject was covered in the wt study at kindgom halls around the globe... let's read it just one more time, so we don't forget just how ridiculous this sounded when we first read it.... watchtower (study edition), april 15th, 2010 issue, pages 27-29:.

"this magazine has long been used by the faithful and discreet slave as the primary channel for dispensing increased light.

... what does this explanation mean to us?

It's like watching sausage being made. When you see all the crap and offal that goes into it you might think twice about eating it. "Meat in Due Season..." indeed.
