  (or, how i grew up in 1950s california in a dysfunctional family that belonged to an end of the world religious cult.).

  ill try to keep it brief, strain out the more tasty morsels from which you can deduce the sense of the broth they come from.. the family unit in those days consisted of dad, mom, me and my younger sister, bizzy bee.

  we were not lower middle class, we were poor.

  i met bob in the early '70s when he had only been a jw a couple of years.

  he was a freelance cartoonist.

  for several years in the '60s he sold most of his work through his agent, mario puzo.

  the memoirs of ulysses s. grant.

  bought the book last week and find it a great read.

  i am up to the beggining battles of the civil war.. by chance, yesterday began the local 3 day "sternwheeler days" event (google it).

  My fathers day -as a father

  i am a very fortunate father.

  5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys.. this is the personal note written inside the card from my youngest daughter, who just became a mother last july.. "things i love about you, dad.... i love that you always make me laugh and you're never too grown up to be silly.... i love that you never talked down to me and always made me feel smart.... most of all, i love that i get tp share you with my daughter and watch you make her giggle like you always did with me.. i love you, dad.. ---".

  forgive me this indulgence but i am a little emotional this eveing after talking to all my adult children today..

  Anyone watch a Biblical epic or two today?

  there were several being shown from the late fifties, early sixties.

  anthony quinn as barrabas, jeffery hunter as jesus of nazareth, etc.. cheesy technicolor and all the romans have upper class british accents.

  lots of mineral oil sweat and burlap on the jewish peasants.
