Hey Ray, best of luck with what you're doing. Nice beard, btw. The letter is good. The only thing I'd put more emphasis on is the human angle, in that not everyone will be sympathetic about your stance from a religious freedom point of view, but if you write more about what you're losing, with your kids, family and wife, then I think people will empathize and see what a petty, ludicrous excuse the WT is putting forward for your excommunication.

Can someone recommend me a history book?

history is my favourite subject and i'd like to maybe try something i wouldn't normally pick up.

Hi Slim,
I find the black death fascinating... a good read about that is 'In the wake of the plague' by Norman Cantor. Some decent WW2 books... 'The ghost mountain boys' by james Campbell, Antony Beever's Stalin, D-Day, Battle for Spain and Berlin, E.B Sledge 'With the old breed', Robert Leckie's 'Helmet for my pillow'. 'Winston's War' by max Hastings.
Sometimes I like Historical Fiction. Favourite authors include Bernard Cornwell 'Saxon Chronicles' 'Agincourt' 'Harlequin' 'The fort'.
Also, Conn Iggulden's Caesar books, and Ghengis Khan. These are really well researched, and fascinating.

I'm not Coeliac, but have completely given up bread, pasta and rice. I find that I have more energy, and have lost the mid-afternoon lethargy. I fill up on certain favourite foods like tomatoes, peppers, aubergines and chickpeas. It's totally do-able. A relative of mine whinges all the time about not being able to eat wheat products, and she has a huge ass. I swear, as soon as you give up on bread and rice, the pounds come off. I'm currently on a new diet which involves eating normally for 5 days, then fasting for 2 days, limiting your calorie intake to 500 calories per fast day. It apparently isn't detremental to health, and actually reduces the risk of developing cancer, diabetes an heart disease. I think the diet averages weight loss of about 2lbs a week. You have to reduce your protein intake too, as this is considered useful on this particular diet. there are no restrictions on what you can eat for the rest of the week, which is good if you find regular diets impossible.

A healthy response to bodily needs and functions. Deaf people don't seem so hung up about sex. In my old circuit there was a rumour going around that the deaf community were very promiscuous. JW scumbags spreading lies.

Weekday mornings kicks ass. That's the whole point of not seeing anybody. I can't be the only one who thinks this way. You do your bullshit witnessing and get to put in some good hours, nobody gets bothered, converted or witnessed to.

Are we losing members quicker than the WT ??
by wobble inreading a thread from just a few months ago, made me realise that a lot of people who used to be regular contributors here no longer do so.. i know that people have always moved on, as the anger and hurt get less, as the wt mind-set totally disappears, we feel the need to come here less and less, but because of the intelligence, insight, wit and wisdom of these people, the board is somewhat impoverished each time one of these moves on.. this is a plea to all who post now, and some who still read but don't post, please do not leave us entirely, the contributions on here are literally life-saving for many.
it is easy to get dangerously suicidal when the whole wt pack of cards falls down for you.. please do not become a stranger to us !.

At least one thing must be true. I'll bet nobody has gone back to the Troof, after having a damn good look around here. I think I stay just because I feel guilty about my family that are still in. I come every once in a while to see if there's any major scandals going down that could help me reason with them. If I had no family in, I would just be outta here.
I think probably a lot of people just eventually feel so gullible and stupid about what they formerly believed, that they clear off, and try to deny that it ever happened to them.
At least they move on.

I think you must realise that if your congregation are shunning you because of any problems with Schizophrenia, they are obviously not being led by God/Jehovah/a Creator. Most people's idea of god is love. The fact that they stay away from any contact with you shows you what is in their hearts, and it's not love!
I really hope you manage to settle into your life without the JWs, and that you can cope with your illness. You will always find friends to talk to on here. Your English is very good!
