Gotta be pre-1960, surely? Sounds way too uneducated to be a recent phrase.

Family Worship
by XBEHERE inanyone else notice how the org is starting to equate family worship evening with an actual meeting.
i do realize that was probably always their intention but lately i have noticed them grouping it with "...ministry, attendance at meetings...family worship..".
they have the nerve to do that when one of the clearly stated reasons that they gave for disbanding the bookstudy was "increasing fuel costs" also spending an hour or more in some areas to travel to that hour long meeting essentially wasting time.

JamesWoods is right about probably being 10%. I don't know anybody who does it. Coupla' years ago I used to have to study with some elduh's kids cuz he couldn't be arsed to do it himself.

Crystlew123, thanks for the post. I just downloaded it, and had a quick look. I think once I realised that the bible was horseshit, I could never be bothered to pick the bones out of it, but this will save me time, and allow me to take the piss out of my family without putting in much effort.
Cheers, matey!

If the world was perfect, and we were perfect, and the animals were perfect in the natural world, then you might have a tiny smidgin' of an argument. The fact that we are piss-poor from a design point of view kind of blows your point of view out of the water. If we (crap as we are in our mental capacity) can imagine a far better world, and biologists can imagine a better way that we could be made, it suggests that a creator made us 'badly' in the first place on purpose. If you need to know more about this subject, the answers can be found on the internet. Richard Dawkins has explained several times how if we were designed to be the pinnacle of god's creation, then we were designed by a kack-handed idiot. If you need quick answers, try youtubing 'richard dawkins design flaws' or something. I know there's a rather interesting video about the laryngeal nerve on a giraffe, and how it simply can't have been designed that way on purpose by a creator..... unless he wanted his work to look intentionally shoddy.
The truth is out there.

Really good post Momma- tossed- me. I'd never really given social media much thought. It's kinda like using a bus or using a supermarket.... it's become an integral part of our lives. Even my 70 yr old mum is considering getting a computer.
I agree that the internet will be the death of the WT.
I just hope it hurries up.

New JW.org video - using the simplified Watchtower to "teach" children
by cedars inwell, now that the new jw.org website is up and running, the videos keep coming thick and fast.. this latest highly-polished production shows an asian family, evidently living in america (or some other developed country), explaining how the watchtower in simplified english benefits them.. here is the link.... http://www.jw.org/en/news/by-region/world/video-clip-helping-children/.
the first thing that struck me was the boys playing football together at the beginning.
it seems playing soccer in pairs (as with the ministry!

How does the watchtower get simplified? Have they turned it into a colouring book?

A new hope in the fight against superbugs
by oldlightnewshite injust managed to download this week's episode of bbc's horizon science programme (which is always bloody brilliant, you can catch it on the bbc site, on iplayer, or on torrents), which was about the fight against bacterial staff infections in hospitals.
it's a thing i've been worried about for a long time, as i've been aware that doctors recently are lamenting that antibiotics are becoming less effective, and they can't create new ones quick enough.
stories were going around that in the very near future we won't have any antibiotics left in the fight against bacteria.. one way they've discovered is to use a particular virus which wipes out bacteria by invading it, and replicating itself inside the cell until it dies.. also, it turns out that scientists in a lab in noo joisey have discovered that bacteria communicate among one another using chemical signals.

NOLAW, I thought that, but apparently it happens naturally in nature all the time. I think they're just doing specific tinkering with it to target specific bacteria.
The program was scary. Apparently, In India, poor people will buy 1 antibiotic tablet for crazy stuff like a headache, or something. Hence, the emergence of the Super-Bugs. Something needs to be tested and put out there quick, time is running out.
