Challenges Facing the Watchtower Org

ive been thinking about the future of the watchtower organization and the challenges it faces in coming decades.

its difficult to address the issue without allowing personal feelings affect the analysis.

many people seem to think that the society will collapse fairly soon, based mostly on the fact that the person dislikes the leadership or cant understand how others can believe the doctrine.

Your original point about literature being almost obsolete at this time is probably weighing on the GBs minds. I totally agree about the topics chosen being out of touch with the western world. I can see a possible shift in the way the literature is printed, in the same way we have a public, and Kool-Aid version. I think within a couple of years we'll see the mags being 'country/continent specific', in that Africa will get their own mags with headline articles about Witchcraft/Voodoo/Famine/War etc. North America will get headline articles about Drug Use/Materialism/How Evil Is The Internet etc.

I think The Society will continue to dump on higher education. Thinking will always continue to be discouraged. regarding the youngsters, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they didn't implement a Bible study school afternoon to indoctrinate kids a little more. I think they'll go for saturday afternoons. I can see probably an elder and his wife being given this 'privilege'. They need to get a hold of the little ones and pummel their soft little brains. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they didn't make it like some kind of sunday school. I don't think a lot of parents are studying much with their kids.

I can see a gradual decline for the Society in the west. They'll lose money, initially. Then they'll tighten their grip on the R&F in so many ways, so that a lot will think 'screw this' and start to question the drivel doctrine.

I used to think 'I just want to live to see the end of this system'. Now that's changed to 'I just want to live to see the end of the Watchtower Society'.

Hospital Liason Committee Arseholes

please be aware if you have just faded and were baptised , if you or your family have a major life or death accident the mongols from the hospital liason committe will always be there before you and will still try to take over the care for the family member.

why does this happen, you need to delete the master records of all family members and they are now not jw any more, if you don't they will still be called and you will have a fight on your hands to get them to leave.

contact your doctor / gp or hospital and get this sorted out.

HLC arseholes should be their official title. A friend of mine was forced into attending a sub-standard hospital when giving birth by these idiots. Her baby was breach and being strangled by the umbelical cord. The 'hospital' confessed that they had no Oxygen (!) She was rushed by ambulance to the nearest equipped hospital 30 miles away. She now has a brain-damaged child who cannot talk, but it's alright because she did what Jehovah wanted, and was faithful to the HLC's wishes.

How long is long enough to consider yourself safe?

for those of us that were baptized and faded, how long do you think before we can stop worrying about being called in for a jc?

i've faded 13 years ago, but i still never answer an unknown phone number, don't answer a knock at the door unless a friend has told me they are on their way, etc.

also, i avoid giving anyone other than my mom my contact info and no one gets my address.. i could care less about avoiding a df, were it not for my family that is still in.

Been out 7 years, and still get about 4 to 5 visits a year with magazines, letters and 'dinner' invites. Thankfully, I reckon they lost my phone number. I might change my name by deed poll, and get some major plastic surgery, then I think I might be alright.

Yeah, Littletoe, a guy from scotland....a little cong in the highlands. Did his talk, then the last 10 minutes of his talk, he said his goodbyes, and explained why he was leaving. If you search on here, you'll find a link to the actual talk. It's a WAV file. The quality's duff, but it's worth a listen.

Ghosts and Spirits

i've been watching the bio channel lately and hearing people relate their stories of ghosts and the supernatural.. although i think some people do experience demonic presences, i think some people (for whatever reason) find it difficult to move on.

jws believe everything is caused by "demons," but there are many near death experiences where people clearly seem to see family members who have helped them and who have manifested themselves with feelings of peace and serenity.

since i don't believe that satan can duplicate these feelings of well being, i was wondering what you think of such manifestations, good or bad.. also, have you ever had any experiences, again, good or bad, in your lives?

You want stories, okay. Before I go on, I'm not saying I put this down to ghosts or spirits or whatever. Just happenings. I don't believe in ghosts. Anyway, my gran, who was very rational, sober and skeptical had a few things happen in her life. She could never explain it.

She worked in a very old neighbourhood in a UK town. The buildings she cleaned were all around 16th century in origin. Court houses, religious buildings, civic buildings etc. One time a plasterer was in the basement of this abbey doing some work on a scaffold. He saw a hooded figure come through the wall, cross the floor, and go throught the other wall. My gran had to calm him down as he was screaming, and vowed never to work there again, he just left. Another time, she and her friend were cleaning some offices, and they saw a light in the skirting board. They got on their hands and knees to look into the hole, and were looking into an old workshop, with a guy wearing old-fashioned clothes from the 17th century or something. She shouted 'Who the bloody hell are you, and what room are you in?' He looked up to her and turned away. Her friend saw the same thing. They checked the lower levels and a room like that didn't exist. (They checked everything). Once she cleaned some lawyer's office, and locked it. Then she carried on doing the hallway. There is only one way to the office, and nobody passed her. She remembered that she left something in there, went back for it, unlocked the door, and everything had been moved. Papers, pens, files opened etc. Unless spiderman got in or somebody did a 'mission impossible'... I dunno. She would always say 'How the hell?' and scratch her head over it, but never attributed it to spooks, she was very level-headed.

This sort of thing will never be able to be researched properly, I believe. I've heard too many rational people who I respect tell tales of stuff that's happened to them, for me to say that they never happened. The actual explanation will probably be a long way off for any of us.

Screen all your calls, and put a spy glass in your door so you can see who's there. (I made the mistake of answering the door once when I knew somebody was coming round in 5 minutes) I get these idiots about 4 times a year, and they KNOW I'm in, but just don't answer or make a sound, even though my car's outside. Look at it this way, while they're trying to get at you, somebody else is getting a reprieve. I say let them waste their time and effort. I do my bit as a public service for my community.

You might feel like they've got you by the balls, but by yanking their chain and having them on, you're actually helping people. Plus, it's kinda satisfying to know they're getting frustrated!

That was excellent. Specially the child who plays up just so he can get out of the hall, then gets the living snot battered out of him in the back room. The songs were well funny too. This is the only manner that I can stand watching a meeting.
