Do You Ever Doubt Your Efforts Are Futile?

...hello folks.... ...i've read countless of posts, ideas, opinions, etc here and i'm interested in your response.... ...there is a whole gamut of feelings here from individuals that are simply annoyed with the wt organization, to those that come off as hellbent on putting the org out of comission.... ...others yet seem to have made it their mission in life to eradicate the concept of god himself.... ...to any of these, what is your motivation?

and do you ever doubt that these efforts are futile?

do you feel that you posses the power/ability/means to change the convictions/faiths of the masses?

I think places like these won't ever change the masses wholesale. Hopefully they will create a good bit of erosion for the watchtower. I don't think the WT will disappear anytime soon. There are still too many JWs who have too much invested in it to leave. Even some who seriously doubt still stay because they can't be honest with themselves, and just get by on wishful thinking.

I think growth in under-developed countries where people have poor education will account for the WT's future growth. It will continue to decline in the west, where there is good access to information on the net.

It's nice to see new users on here and watch them blossom into fully fledged apostates. it's gratifying to know that at least some people will escape the mind prison. It makes me hopeful for my own family.

Hi Louis, Welcome! I think the advice you're already getting is good. Definitely see a counsellor/psychiatrist. It'll definitely help your cause. You will then have proof to show any court that you are on top of things in your life, that you are taking control and being responsible. Also, you can have your counsellor vouch for you, and give first-hand testimony that you are ready to get your kids back in your life. I really hope things go right for you, not only for your sake, but for your kids. They are probably getting the indoctrination right now. I would just try to get to know them again, and be their friends, and not criticize anything about your family or the JWs. Ease them into thinking for themselves gently.

discussing the recent boe letter regarding child molestation this morning with my wife (she actually brought it up) , and she commented on how absurd it was - it just did not make sense!

but there was one way that it could make sense.

she said "what if someone at the top on the governing body was a child molester and wanted to cover everything up?

Scenicviewer......Good point. Greenlees and Chitty are the Governing Body members from the 70s who were removed for homosexuality and child molestation, I think. I think it was Greenlees who raped a 17 year old boy.

Who knows what the current GB are into these days? Maybe they're all secretly looking at each other and thinking...'sausage jockey or kiddy fiddler?'

Sab's right. They do treat child rape as sin, rather than crime. I think probably that it's more to do with the fact that they are sitting on a big, fat hefty file full of names of paedophiles in the congregations. They're like the little Dutch boy with his finger in the hole in the dam. If they accede to the fact that they were wrong about their policies, will they be engulfed by historical cases of abuse, based on old misguided thinking about 2 witnesses etc?

Also, that file of names that's been mentioned. (20,000 or so?) Does anybody even know whether it's a list of total sexual paedophiles in the congregations based on allegations? or rather, a list of brothers that the Watchtower considers to be sexual predators? If so, the actual list could be much bigger.

The passage is quite artfully contrived for maximum guilt. I think it won't be too long before they actually suggest that even THINKING about disfellowshipped family members is sin and disloyalty to Jehovah. They're one step away from it.

Deffo Game of Thrones. I'm currently listening to 'A dance with dragons'. I'm hooked.

The Borgias was excellent. Are they really gonna bring out another Deadwood? I was under the impression it had been canned.

hello, i've been lurking in this forums for a while but its only now that i've created an account.

i'm an inactive jw, been in and out sporidically these past few years, but its only these recent months after reading crisis of conscience and christian freedom that i think i will never go back there again.. the reason i've been inactive primarily is because i have issues regarding masturbation and porn.

my conscience cannot allow to continue preaching while i continously being overcome by these habits myself.

Eel wrestling is no big deal. Everybody does it. Hell, I bet even the Governing Body faithful and Discrete Slave play 'soggy biscuit' together behind closed doors. Don't beat yourself up over it. It's natural, and it releases endorphines, which beats stress and depression.

If you're feeling low right now, don't pray or go to the meetings, just watch the boom-chicka-bow-wow.
