Do you miss "dressing up" for the meetings?

i was thinking about this the other day when doing a bit of tidying up of my wardrobe.

all the kh suits are now pushed to the back of the wardrobe and i am seriously thinking about a visit to the charity shop to get rid of most of them.. for me one of the (few) enjoyable aspects of being a jw was getting dressed up.

my secular work very rarely involves putting on a dress suit & tie so i miss getting dressed up - smart suit , tie , shiny shoes , slapping on the aftershave.

I hated dressing up and today I will dress up only for a party, job interview or wedding or funeral but other then that I like to be casual.

What was life like for you as a JW teenager?

in the wt's illistrations they portray jw teenagers as happy, together group.

my experinace is that the jw teenagers in the cong were some of the bitchyist backstabbing arse holes i'll ever meet.. it was unheard of for us to engage in group "wholesome activity" as show in the wt's illistrations.

the competition amongst the girls for the handsome, sane and elders sons were cut throat.

I went to a few gatherings when I was younger but overall they were dull. Young Jw's can be very weird.

What weird things have you read in the bible?

the fact that nimrod's name means: "he stirred up the whole earth to rebel"

and yet ezra's name means: "help"

what caused nimord's mother to name him something that had such a negative meaning and yet he turned out to be just that?

The bible has many weird parts especially the book of Revelation that is some pure nightmare fuel.

Not being able to form my own beliefs now I am an atheist.Which is by my own doing.

anything that you have experienced that was and still is beneficial to you now from when u were a jw?.

I am able to better made a convincing arguement in many situations.They helped me to talk in crowds

I do not really get to fine tune my social skills I also become negative about everything and now I am least likely to really trust people and feel that all the things I was told to be true is now proven to be a lie.So I feel that really to quote George orwell " In a world of universal decit telling the truth is a revolutionary act" This proves in many aspects of our lives.

It has been rough but I think that this year I matured and learned a lot about myself and I think that 2012 will be a time of change and transition for all of us.
