i have a question, primarily for trinitarians, but anyone's more than welcome to comment.

what scriptural basis is there for believing in the trinity?

i can understand some having the view that jesus/jehovah both can be worshipped, and the view that jesus should be, but where in the bible is the holy spirit worshipped?

we know an out of state couple, (early 40's) who have been jw's for most of their lives.

i'll call them dave and kathy.. when they got married 15 years ago, kathy was a hard worker who did this religion mainly to keep her parents happy ( dad was the po).. dave was starting his own business, he never held a real job in his life, and he was pretty zealous for the jw way of life.. over the years they had their ups and downs, but around 5 years ago they both stopped attending the meetings, and were doing a textbook "fade".

we would hear from them about every 2-3 months, and his business seemed to be doing well, kathy was a stay at home wife who worked pt at home doing computer work.

To answer the question, I think "Corporate Religion" are money-laundering schemes.

Especially, the ones that don't assist their own followers.

How easy it is to be an Atheist to such petty "gods". I am an Atheist to the "god" of the watchtower.

I am an Atheist to beliefs that some have in JC.

I am not an Atheist per se, however I can say that I am an Atheist to idiocy(through I maybe one).

None, of the "gods" presented to me make the cut and until then, .......well

I agree with most of the teachings in my faith. Most of those teachings cannot be found outside of the Witness faith. I know the leadership is faulty. I know they are just as faulty as many of the leaders of ancient Israel were, as many older Christian men of the first century were and as many leaders of the U.S. are. This is human, this is mankind. There is no leadership without fault, a sad but true reality.

the few times that i've had a chat about my atheism, i usually get a response like the one above.

"well, seeing how you were in a cult- i can understand why you're an atheist now," just dismissing the bulk of the reasons i have for my disbelief.. i think what is particularly awkward about someone telling me this is- it's part way true- only part way though.

however, they stop listening after i explain to them that, "yes, being in a cult was an impetus to my search" and they fail to hear the rest of what i'm saying and believe that i went from point a to point f and just skipped all the steps and months of research in between out of some kind of anti-jw tantrum.

I am not an "Atheist" by definition, but It does bother me when I hear it.

It is just the same, when I hear how one becomes gay because of sexual abusive when they were younger.
