"Are you In the Truth?"
by Nickolas ini can't remember the last time i was asked that question because it has been many years.
nor do i remember my response to the questioner but it no doubt contributed to not being asked the question since.

Nickolas -Again, we are discussing The Truth as represented by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. If we're all agreeing that it's bunk, then let's examine why it is bunk.
What does anyone think of Gen 3:15?
From what I have read the Jews consider it literal, while the JW's among other supposed "Christian" groups consider that verse to be the first prophecy.
Did Jesus refer to this verse in the bible?

Has a local needs talk been given about you?
by Jadeen inthis was briefly mentioned in one of miseryloveselders threads, but i had the honor of a local needs talk pointed at me.
shortly before i got married to my "worldly" husband there was a talk about "marrying only in the lord", "do not become unevenly yoked", blah blah blah.. i wasn't shocked that it was given, i was actually waiting to hear about it.
i was more surprised that they waited until about a month before our wedding day to give it.

As a witness I felt guilty even when I wasn't doing anything wrong........I was feeling guilty for future sins, I guess?

Slavery in the Bible facilitates dyfunctional relationships
by sabastious inhow do the leaders of the watchtower sleep at night?.
i often wonder this and feel there is a variety of factors to consider when explaining why people like the governing body of jehovah's witnesses do indeed sleep well at night (assuming they do).. one of the first things that comes to mind for me is the topic of slavery in the bible.. this concept trickles down into many aspects of society:.
secular work could be considered a form of slavery.

PSac- You should look at the thread "How to Beat Your Slave", it gives 'how to' instruction in Exodus. This is before the Israelites had a king/ruler.

Lurkers: What do you think of DJEggnog?
by sabastious ini'm curious to what the lurkers think of this guy?
have you read a lot of his posts?
do you think he makes good points?
-

Some long post are necessary to get a point across, but eggnog's comments seem to alway be long-winded. He seem to think that longer = credibility. My alarm goes off when a person can not get their point across with 2 or 3 paragraph's.

How many times have we sang the song "Keep your eye's on the Prize"? What the WTBTS failed to teach us ---is that each person is a Prize onto themselves, but instead they spread their BS agenda. ---I got you by 6 years and you have strenghten me, so I say by the time you get to my age, you will be seasoned at dealing with this emotionally.
Thanks You for sharing!

It Is Not the First Time
by AGuest into the household of god, israel, and those who go with, may you all have peace!.
i have not been posting "a lot" lately (not that i post a lot, considering the averages) and there is a reason: i have another bit to share and just wasn't up to the "fight" that usually comes when i do so.
so, i had to take a step back and let our lord refresh me a bit and give me the strength... and flint-y forehead... that i would need to follow through with this post.

AGuest- I can respect your somewhat non-pretentious approach, but I think that you really enjoy the taste of your own cooking very much. And I know you will grant what you are who you are as the outcome of spirit that has been granted you---I am happy for you.
Imo, you sound like a person who has been abducted by aliens and is sharing with us some elaborate story about your time with the abductor.---Again good for you!
Are you not willing to allow people to come into their own, without the(I am saved, and you can, and should be saved too attitude.)

Why I think Jesus spoke against Organized Religion
by sabastious inthis is going to be a short essay on a point i have been thinking about for a while now.. jesus explicitly stated in the gospels not to judge.
i think this a grossly overlooked statement from jesus from the witnesses and a lot of christian denominations.. judging could be defined as figuring out what's right or wrong for another person.
it's a pretty simple concept really, and jesus warned against it.. organized religion by definition creates doctrine and policy, some enforce them more than others (like the witnesses).. to create (or interpret) doctrine and initialize policy is to judge others.

AGuest-This is an error, dear WTW (peace to you!). The PROBLEM arose when man thought... for himself: the man Adam showed that some of us can NOT think for ourselves... without harming others.
>>>>>>>>
Adam was not deceived, he knew that he was being told a lie. So, yes he could think for himself. The PROBLEM occurred with his failure to act on the falsity.
There are JW's that know they have been lied too, ----but fail to act on the dishonesty that comes from their leaders---That Sir is the PROBLEM.
