The definition of Apostasy is vague and the punishment is severe: a clear imbalance.
"True Worship"= how vague is that?

Why does the sun burn my eyes?
by sabastious inthe sun is impossible to look at too long before permanent eye damage is caused.
after the eye was fully evolved in whatever creature it formed first on was unable to look at the sun.
why did natural selection ignore what rightly cannot be ignored?

Literature-Leaving Etiquette
by zoiks ina friend of mine is the tasting room manager at a local vineyard.
this weekend the vineyard hosted an anniversary party for a my-gosh-they-are-so-young-for-having-been-married-for-so-long couple.
while cleaning up after the party, the employees found numerous pieces of literature hidden in their magazine racks, and the 3-dvd set, "the bible - a book of fact & prophecy" hidden among their cds.

What better way to tip the staff, then to leave literature.

Demonstrations From the Platform
by DarioKehl ingood evening, all.... still relatively new here so if i'm posting about a topic that's already been run into the ground, i apologize.
but i just wanted to acknowledge the typical "demo" we all see at meetings, assemblies and conventions.
even back when i was a good-goody teen dub, my brother, friends and i would jokingly refer to demos as "5-minute illustrations on how to say 'no.'".

stillin-The kid was REALLY wanting to upgrade his electronic setup at home but realized that the money would go further if he donated at least some of it for the worldwide work...I kid you not
Why not put the money in an account for his education?

"We are all atheists ...
by Nickolas in... about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in.
some of us just go one god further.".
dawkins raises a point which some, if not many, theists will dismiss as irrelevant, but i am not exactly sure why.

Jehovah's Witnesses - Once Again the Fastest Growing Faith in the U.S.
by davidl7 inaccording to the latest statistics published by the ncc in its yearbook of american and canadian churches, the jehovah's witnesess had the highest growth rate, in 2010 growing 4.37%.
this is, i believe, is the 4th year in a row, that the witnesses had the highest growth rate.
roman catholics grew by less than 1%, as did most of the other churches listed.

wobble-Unless you are creating a God according to your liking perhaps. "We had better think up a name for him unless he gets confused as to who he is."
I feel the same way. You have a religion built on a name, and that name is suppose to be evidence of "True Worship"?
What ever true worship is,...

davidi7-If we can use the name Jesus, the name we must use to be reconciled with the Father, then we can certainly use the name Jehovah, which according to Nehemia Gordon, a Karaite scholar who helped translate the Dead Sea Scrolls, is pronounced as "it is written", Yahovah
You can not compare the tetragrammaton(considered sacred), to a very common name Jesus or Yahshua.
Yahshua/Yeshua we know how to pronounce, the tetragrammaton we don't---apple to oranges.

Random Digressions
by NewChapter init's hard for me to always stick to topic in a thread.
maybe i have trouble with linear thinking, but sometimes someone makes a comment that sets me on a completely unrelated path.
i've noticed that some members vigilantly watch for this and warn when a comment is off-topic or when the thread has strayed far from the originally stated topic.

I'm a big fan of Curb your Enthusiasm.
Larry has a main theme with each episode, with two or three side stories, and by the end of the episode or season it all comes together well.

So me, of all people, had a religious experience
by sabastious ini was sitting in my garage, as i often do, to chill out and i actually ended up becoming angry.. so here i am, in my garage, kicking it on the stool for the drum set that is in there (i am a pianist/composer, not a drummer).
i start to think about all the crazy stuff that transpires on this planet.
we have all seen shows and heard stories or maybe even witnessed events that don't add up.

I see where you are going with this Sab.
You had a defacto prayer and then you resort to an activity that you are very familiar with, where pattern recognition comes to you easily which could have assisted you, in perceiving it to be more than what it was.
>>>>>>>>
I pray to god for an answer, then I go to a meeting(church) that I have been to going to for over 30years and by-golly my chances of getting an answer is high.
