I don't belong here anymore
by sizemik inthese are some things i have been thinking about .
.. when i first found this site i registered immediately ... never was a "lurker" ... and i've been here about six months.. everyone was very warm welcoming and i felt at home very quickly ... very pleasant at the time, but as time has progressed i look back and feel a bit "love-bombed" ... much like a religion i used to belong to.. i have found that this site is a bit "cliquey" ... groups of posters frequent at similar times and enjoy their familiarity with each other and that's great ... but they also sometimes exhibit a coolness toward those outside their clique ... almost as if your 'post count' is the first thing by which you are "judged" ... much like a religion i used to belong to.
some posters develop a personal dislike for others and not only jump on their threads but even deliver the odd "slap" on unrelated threads to increase the discomfort for the object of their dislike ... not unlike a religion i once belonged to.. some posters even follow others around the board looking to counter or use snide or clever put downs at every opportunity ... a kind of intellectual "rivalry" that was common to those in that religion i used to belong to.. many posters like to use 'in-house' jargon and labels eg; "newbies" for those recently joined.

Why would a JW call a "goat" during lunch break at the Assembly?
by skeeter1 inthis has happened a few times, so i now ask your thoughts.. so the new posters know, i was raised in and left.
never baptised.
so, close family & friends still talk with me.

Come on people!
Who doesn't have the 'Aunt' or a friend of your mothers who is still into "Home Interior".
You walk into their home and it absolutely covered with decorative ornaments received from parties thrown
You think to yourself "So this is the person who keeps Home Interior in business"
The house is immaculate, but cluttered(border-line horder)
You conclude that it is a functional complusive disorder(the person has built a certain amount of esteem from being a home interior advocate).
I am blessed, to have an oppurtunity to learn from this behavior

Are atheists less imaginative about the unknown?
by sabastious inalmost every atheist i have ever come across i can get along with well.
i love to debate and talk about the world around us and they seem to as well, but i feel like i get a lot of "eye rolls" from the atheists i speak to.. it's ironic that i am six feet six inches tall because i would describe myself as a man with his head in the clouds.
it's up there most of the time and i feel at home when thinking of the future.

Sab - believers are like land-based telescopes. - requires error-correction from earth's atmosphere
Non-believers are more like orbiting telescopes. -can focus more of their time on the unknown(without the error-correction that ground telescopes have to deal with)
believers are equal to galileo in his youth with a looking glass the power of your average reading glasses
non-believers the hubble telescope

Seeking counsel from active or former Elders / COs / DOs
by Nickolas ina request.
if you are/were not an elder and wish to comment, by all means do so, but please preface your comment accordingly.
if you are posing as an elder, please, please refrain from responding lest you inadvertantly do some damage.. i have been provided hypothetical consequences from the membership at large, now request the answer from a position of authority.. the question.. if the elders in my wife's congregation should decide that i have become a spiritual danger to her, how would they advise her?

Mad Sweeney-Articles like this push me to the side that says, YES, they ABSOLUTELY know what they're doing.
Totally agree.
What other Magazine Company deliberately condescends their audience, and still remains standing?
This seems to be a INSIDE JOKE among those who permit this stuff to be printed.
The WTBTS followers are the butt end of a inside joke, and the joke isn't haha funny.
It is wasting my entire life giving to a corporation in the name of god type funny.

Jehovah's Witnesses and their hypocritical entertainment choices.
by Scooby-Doo inthe couple that i studied with were major hypocrites when it came to their entertainment choices.
i remember the first time i was invited to their house for dinner, this was the first time that we just hung out socially, and they were playing music.
a song came on sung by a girl group that liked to pretend they were bisexuals (or lesbians, whatever) and i thought 'hey, maybe these witnesses are pretty relaxed and cool after all'.. boy was i wrong.

POLL/SURVEY- Why Did You Leave The Organization of JW's?
by PublishingCult inwhy did you leave the organization of jehovah's witnesses, and/or why are you contemplating leaving the organization of jehovah's witnesses?.
i've tried to boil it down to the most likely answers based on all the reasons i have heard over the years from xjw's.
a. because the watchtower bible & tract society does not have the truth.. b. because i had a personality conflict with other members of the organization.. c. because i discovered that the wtbts was not being honest or forthcoming about its history.. d. because serving jehovah was too difficult and i just wanted to be worldly and do wicked things.. e. because the governing body of jehovah's witnesses have proved to be false prophets.. f. because i found just cause to disagree with erroneous jw teachings.. g. because the governing body and/or elders were hypocritical.
