the spanish branch office sent a letter to all congregations in spain explaining the governing body's decision to stop all printing, storing and shipping of literature in spain.
the spanish government recently ruled that all bethalites are entitled to a pension after having worked at bethel for many years.
the ruling of the government sent the governing body scrambling.
O.K. Can someone translate this?

all of us who grew up jw have heard this argument a million times: to have a close relationship with someone you must first know them by name.. but how would you feel if your kids called you by your first name?
instead of showing a closeness, it would be looked at as a sign of disrespect.
their calling you "father" would be the real indication of their special relationship with you.. so it is with god and so it was with those who considered the divine name too sacred to pronounce..
It was out of reverence that they didn't pronounce the name, not from fear.
What has come down to us are 4 letters YHVH. It's anybody's guess as to what vowels should be inserted and how it
should be pronounced. Most scholars think that since the name was revealed in Hebrew, the closest we can come to
it is Yahweh or Yahveh. JWs would have us believe that the name in English is Jehovah. But, a close study shows that Jehovah is a Latin name
invented by a Catholic monk by the name of Raymond Martin. It came down to us via the King James Version when the translators borrowed it
from the Latin.
we have several nearly complete sets of watchtower and awake!
bound volumes, from 1960 through the early 2000s, that we need to get rid of quickly.
you can have them for the shipping cost.
Go to http://www.ebay.com
Do a search for Watchtower in All Categories or Books. People sell the literature on there.
You could make a little money rather than destroy them.
i took the advice of some here and "went to the press".
here's the resulting article: http://www.monticellotimes.com/articles/2009/04/09/community/879zimmerman.txt.
i think it turned out rather well..
Very well written. I hope it's an eyeopener for anyone considerering studying with the Witnesses.
i've been reading several of the comments and many of you appear to be out-of-step with the faithful and discreet slave..
According to the Bible Students, Jehovah's Witnesses apostasized from them.
last year in my cong (well it's not really "my cong" as i'm just "in" for the sake of family) we had a new "partaker of the emblems".
it came as a shock because this man was only baptized in 2005.. his wife has been a dub from birth.. he was 63 when he got baptized, took "auxilliary" pioneer after 1 month...became a full-time pioneer after a year....became ms after 2years...made an elder 6 months later.....2008 he got "anointed"....we were all surprised at the amount of time he took to climb the jw corporate ladder....rumours are that he donated a car to our po when he (po) lost his job, and some other favours( this man is wealthy).... .
i'm looking forward to be "just an observer" at this year's memorial in my cong (i am thinking of partaking myself, but i sure would rather not,the "bread" is tasteless and the wine is of poor quality,...i don't wanna throw out at the ms serving the emblems)..... back to that man,...how long would it take him to become a gb member?.
Renaia,
Why do you take 1 Cor. 11:27-28 out of context? Why don't you back up to begin with verse 17 and then you might see the problem in the Corinthian Church. It had nothing to do with "apostates" participating as was inferred in a Topix thread. Rather some Corinthians did not believe in the real presence of Jesus (his body) in the Lord's Supper nor did they discern the Church as the mystical Body of Christ as evidenced in their self-centered actions in vs. 20-21. Is it any wonder that the church no longer observes these love feasts in association with the Lord's Supper? See Jude 12 and 2 Pet. 2:13 Nor are these passages suggesting that only the "anointed" are worthy, while the "other sheep" are not.
