1928 The Messenger PDF
by cabasilas ininformation on how to download the 1928 messenger in pdf will be given at the bottom of this post.. the messenger was the name given by the watchtower society for an occasional watchtower publication that reviewed conventions for bible students/jehovah's witnesses in the 1920s to 1940s.
there were issues published for (not a complete list) 1928, 1931, 1938 and a couple other years.
(perhaps someone else could give a complete list for us?

There are quite a few wannabe Jehovah's Witnesses on the Topix forum. They claim to be Bible studies for years and years or such, but never seem able to take the "plunge." Moreover, they are Watchtower apologists to the max. Maybe they're playing a game of theocratic warfare.

TO CLARIFY A COUPLE OF THINGS ABOUT MY PROJECT.....
by Mary infirst of all, i want to thank everyone for all the words of encouragment and compliments i've received regarding the project i put together.
not only will it (hopefully) help some family members to see that something's not right regarding many of the wt's doctrines, but it was therapeutic for me to do as well.
like many other ex-witnesses, i was emotionally devastated and extremely angry when i discovered that this religion was not "the truth" as was drilled into our brains from day one.

I belong to Prison Fellowship. There are several groups in prisons that have Bible studies; the Baptists are particularly active. I see Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, Muslims, Wiccans, Jews and Catholics there as well.

Mc Millians book= Russell LAUGHTED at Brothers in robes waiting for Armagedon
by Witness 007 infaith on the march p.27 "..regarding the armagedon perdiction in 1878 ".....i told him {russell} pittsburgh papers had reported he was on the sixth street bridge dressed in a white robe...expecting to be taken to heaven with many others.....russell laughed heartily and said: "i was in bed that night between 10;30 and 11;00 pm.
however some of the more radical ones might have been there, but i was not.
niether did i expect to be taken to heaven at that time...much work to be done preaching...".

So what if Russell didn't predict 1878. He believed it and promoted it. No one can deny that the early Bible Students were anticipating to be taken up into heaven in 1878. And when 1878 failed to materialize they began to point to 1914. Again, it didn't happen in 1914. They were WRONG! Whether Russell was one of the radical ones on the bridge or not is irrelevant. He did nothing to dissuade his followers from anticpating it.

New unique book on JWs published
by InquiryMan ina book on jws containing contributions from more than 10 professionals, giving different angles on jw doctrine, organization, life and culture has been published by the norwegian university press publishing ho... a jw is also contributing, allowing the jws to give a self-presentation.... it is rolf furuli who has written that part, he is also coordinator in an oslo congregation and is working at the university of oslo.. in fact, my parents intends to read the book, and that is good, cause it also mentions information not commonly known among regular jws, e.g.
mexico/malawi etc... it also gives the web address to a number of support web sites for "disgruntled" witnesses.. the book has come into existence also in cooperation with brooklyn hqs and the national branch office providing information and literature.. a good reading, accurate, containing less than five actual mistakes in close to 200 pages ;-)... (one minor one in the witness chapter.
he says in general witnesses are ambassadors of god s kingdom.. and shows this by reference to 2. cor.

Stonewall:
That fish bowl around St. Paul's head is known as a halo. It's a symbol depicting an aura of glory, veneration or sentiment surounding and idealized person or thing, according to Webster's.
As to the scrolls, you are correct; they were made of leather or papyrus. Books begin to appear around 150 A.D. There's an interesting read at the following link:

Protesting and Demonstrating at District Convention
by jabberwock inhas anyone who has attended a district convention this year seen any protestors or demonstrators?.
have you ever protested or demonstrated or maybe even handed out literature at a convention or assembly?
what happened?

I think screaming at Witnesses is bad, but that doesn't happen everywhere. I remember one convention I attended in Houston where
some people were only handing out tracts, nothing else. I took one and read it. Must say, it raised a lot of questions in my mind,
although I didn't leave until years later. So, just remember what every little doubt planted can lead to.
