There always have been 'unofficial' study groups, I imagine there always will be. The 'apostate' ideas that developed in the late 1970's/early 1980s in Brooklyn Bethel grew through these unofficial study groups. The WT leadership will never forget that!!!!

Thnx for posting this video. It's great to see a young witness actually reasoning with himself about the rubbish beliefs in the bible.
Most people (including most christians) react on 'feelings' not reason. If everyone had to attend a course on critical thinking, there would be few christians (and jws) in the world. Sadly, that's not the situation,

Have JEHOVAH ever supported WARS between his WORSHIPPERS?
by Longlivetherenegades injehovah's witnesses used to state other christian denominations go to war and in fact that their religious leaders bless such wars.
they see this as one reason why all other christian denominations are not true christians since they kill one another at war and therefore they don't love one another as stated by jesus in john 13: 34,35.. for example when a roman catholic go to war, he/she is bound to kill a fellow roman catholic in the cause of the war.
therefore roman catholic can't be true christians since its member don't love one another and kill one another at war and as such god cannot be in support of such wars where his worshippers kill one another.. the question that comes for consideration is, has jehovah ever supported wars between his own worshippers?.

waton, will you expound further on the claim you made ...
You wrote, " the account teaches that the precious life of a woman, brought to a terrible end like that, will be avenged by the elimination of tens of thousands that by associating were connected to it."

Moses got it wrong- The Ark was round
by fulltimestudent innot a new subject, i think i have posted on this before, as well as others.
but, i came across a british museum video (on youtube) in which a bm curator tells of his discovery of a cuneiform tablet outlining the assyrian story of the flood and the (round) ark.. the bm curator was dr irving finkel, deputy keeper of middle east at the british museum, he explains that one day a member of the public brought in an old family heirloom.
it all started with a fairly normal event for a museum: a member of the public bringing in an old family heirloom - a cuneiform tablet from around 1750 bc which proved to be one in a million.. finkel proceeded to decipher this tablet.

Finkel has also written a book on this important find. I find it interesting as it demonstrates that there were intercultural sharings of ideas, beliefs and stories.
If you would like more details, then you may find Finkel's book interesting:
If you cant get access to the book at some library or bookshop, then this 58 minute video of a talk that Finkel gave at the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute a reasonable alternative.

Finkel proceeded to decipher this tablet. and realised he had discovered the earliest account of the ancient Babylonian ‘Story of the Flood’ – a story that a bible writer later incorporated into the genesis account.Finkel's brief account is in this shorter version of longer explanations.

I guess I was lucky, I was already taking Vitamin D3 with zinc and some other minerals before this outbreak. The Dr whose surgeries I attend, looks after my health quite well. He'd already noticed my D3 levels were low and prescribed the tablets I take. Also, This month i have an annual wide-ranging blood test, and a CT scan costing zero$.
So, I don't think that a profit motive applies as much in Australia, as it may in the USA. All Australians are covered by a basic level of medical assistance and hospital care. Its paid for through a levy, as part of your income tax. The only things I pay for are prescribed medicines and these are usually deeply discounted, Most hospital services are also paid for in the previously mentioned levy, So I don't think the comment, "But why would healthcare providers give you cheap vitamins when they can stick you on a ventilator and get a cash windfall for your death?"
The official Australian death rate from Covid 19 at present is slightly more than 900 - is there a relationship between that data and the Australian system?
If anyone cares, that can be compared to some 800 deaths (in 2019 - the worst death rate for years) caused by influenza virus. Presently there are no cases requiring intensive care.

Simon-Quote: "There are strong correlations with vitamin D deficiency that indicate that governments could have done a lot just by handing out cheap supplements to at-risk people. Just one of the many simple basic things they could do but don't, preferring instead to expand their powers of control over people."
I agree, I noted early in this epidemic, that some med/sci info about Vitamin D indicated that it may help/prevent Covid19. According to an Aust.Dr (John Campbell) only two small specific trials (one Spanish, on Indian have been run in 2020. You can see Campbell's comments (he's somewhat tedious to listen to, but his info is OK) in this Youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCSXNGc7pfs&t=567s.
I should point out that Vit. D is a problem because people spend less time in the open (sunshine)
The other health aid that may help is zinc - some trials are being run/ See:
Quote:
Can Zinc fight COVID-19?
The Department of Surgery at Austin Health have started recruitment on a world-first trial to investigate whether intravenous zinc can assist in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19).
... The trial will be led by A/Prof Joseph Ischia, along with Prof Damien Bolton and Dr Oneel Patel from the Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne. They have a long and successful history of investigating the protective effects of intravenous zinc against organ damage induced by lack of oxygen.

-----------------
And a paper posted on the web-site of Frontiers of Immunoloogy (July 10, 2020) titled,
Described the importance of Zinc in the Abstract.
Abstract (Summary)During the current corona pandemic, new therapeutic options against this viral disease are urgently desired. Due to the rapid spread and immense number of affected individuals worldwide, cost-effective, globally available, and safe options with minimal side effects and simple application are extremely warranted. This review will therefore discuss the potential of zinc as preventive and therapeutic agent alone or in combination with other strategies, as zinc meets all the above described criteria. While a variety of data on the association of the individual zinc status with viral and respiratory tract infections are available, study evidence regarding COVID-19 is so far missing but can be assumed as was indicated by others and is detailed in this perspective, focusing on re-balancing of the immune response by zinc supplementation. Especially, the role of zinc in viral-induced vascular complications has barely been discussed, so far. Interestingly, most of the risk groups described for COVID-19 are at the same time groups that were associated with zinc deficiency. As zinc is essential to preserve natural tissue barriers such as the respiratory epithelium, preventing pathogen entry, for a balanced function of the immune system and the redox system, zinc deficiency can probably be added to the factors predisposing individuals to infection and detrimental progression of COVID-19. Finally, due to its direct antiviral properties, it can be assumed that zinc administration is beneficial for most of the population, especially those with suboptimal zinc status."

Likely (as suggested by Simon) if governments had just provided these two supplements to the general population, man deaths may have been prevented

How Life May have Started on This Planet Without YHWH

Goodbye yhwh-Goodbye jesus
by fulltimestudent ininteresting report in a oxford university blog - the world is becoming less religious, (hurray!!!).
quote: "an analysis of religious trends from 1981 to 2007 in 49 countries containing 60% of the world’s population did not find a global resurgence of religion—most high-income countries were becoming less religious—however, it did show that in 33 of the 49 countries studied, people had become more religious (norris and inglehart, 2011).
but since 2007, things have changed with surprising speed.

Phizzy: "A lot of good, ethical and moral choices are made in Nature, by what some still like to think of as " lesser " species, co-operation and altruistic works are seen. If we have evolved the intelligence to work out what does the most good and the least harm, we should make those choices, not anything that comes short of that."
Agreed! But, we (humans) still don't know why other animals seem to demonstrate altruism or why they co-operate. For example, a recent YT video showed a lioness killing a ungulate and then apparently realising (?) it was pregnant and then attempting to revive (?) the fetus. Was the lioness's actions true mercy? Or, was it simply a response to a chemical messenger emitted by the killed beast.
It seems apparent that in spite of the biblical teaching at 2 Peter 2:12 (that governed western thought for centuries) that 'beasts' were 'destitute of reason' (hence the NWT's use of the word 'unreasoning'), animal behaviour can be interpreted as indicating some reasoning ability. So do animals 'think' about their conduct and actions?
And, if humans are animals (advanced or not) is intelligence the foundation of our actions, or is 'instinct' the starting point? Think about the English Protestant persecution of Catholics in Elizabethan times. Was it intelligent or merciful to burn people to death (mimicking the flames of hell)? We humans may think we are intelligent, but our behaviour is often stupid.
Which, of course, was the point of the author's remark at 2 Peter 2:12.(except his chosen illustration was false).

But since 2007, things have changed with surprising speed. From 2007 to 2020, an overwhelming majority (43 out of 49) of these same countries became less religious. This decline in belief is strongest in high-income countries but it is evident across most of the world (Inglehart, 2021)."
And, Surprise, surprise !!! Even in that once bastion of godliness, the good ol' hew ess hay - belief has been declining more rapidly than in most other countries.
The author is Ronald F. Inglehart who is the Lowenstein Professor of Political Science emeritus at the University of Michigan. He is the author of Religion’s Sudden Decline: What’s Causing it, and What Comes Next? (Oxford University Press—forthcoming in January 2021), from which this essay is adapted.
