Good analogy to the parent. I've heard Christians say that God is calling out to us to stop doing bad things. Continuing the parent analogy, this is like a parent whose kids are beating each other up, and the parent just keeps yelling at them to stop but doesn't physically put a stop to it.

this is the same question of why does God allow evil; and people have shared their insight and their thoughts on that matter a lot lately.
I don't read every thread, so I must have missed their insight. Can you remind us why God allows evil? In particular, in the video, a woman is being beat up. The angel asks God, "Why aren't you stopping the guy who is beating her up?" If I were walking down the street and saw a woman getting beat up, I would jump in and physically do what I could to stop him. God is usually defined to be more powerful than I am, and yet he does not physically stop the man from beating her up. In the video, God's answer is that he will not violate the man's free will. The angel retorts that since the woman's free will is being violated by the attacker, God is allowing her free will to be taken away and favoring the attacker's free will. This scenario causes people like me to ask why God would do such a thing, that is, favoring the evil man's free will over the innocent woman's free will. It makes me feel as though he, if he exists, is not someone for whom I would feel respect or love.

MsGrowingGirl20 is no longer one of......
by MsGrowingGirl20 ini am no longer one of jehovah's witnesses(well mentally that is)---however i am a christian...i recently started reading different translations from www.biblegateway.com...jesus is so different to how the jw's teach....and god...i mean, i still am learning and confused about certain things but i am in love with them.... it's obvious that the jw's are not an organization of god.i don't think god is working through an organization but through individuals...however i am going to speak to an elder tomorrow about my issues---all of them---and i'm going to tell him everything--what i've been reading, where i got it from---everything!!
i'm not hiding anything!
i have done no wrong....i just want to be a true christian and if they disfellowship me for seeking answers then this is not where i need to be.

Tell them you want to bring a friend, a spouse, a pastor or whoever. You can also tell them you want to record it so there is a record of what transpired just like in a real court.
Interesting that "Satan's" judicial system is more transparent and just than the Watchtower's.

Hi MSGrowingGirl20, I wish you strength if your meeting with them becomes difficult or upsetting. Although I was just a study, I felt that my study conductor was not interested in communicating with me. No matter what research I had done, no matter what materials I brought, it just didn't matter. We were not having a two-way rational discussion. For reference, here are a couple of links about rational discussion. Maybe ask if the elders will agree to abide by the sorts of principles outlined below:

Regarding 1 Cor 13:4-7, some of the phrases apply to part of what the article is suggesting. The ones I see are "long-suffering," "does not keep account of the injury," "bears all things," "endures all things." Upon further reflection, I don't think I like 1 Cor 13:4-7 anymore.

WT is a cash cow for who? do the GB know they are frauds?
by thecrushed inas i've understood it the gb has taken a vow of poverty.
on jwn they are constantly accused of guilt tripping their subjects to keep distributing there literature to make converts in order to keep growing the number of donations which is a valid point.
i ask this question in all honesty and naivety to see where the truth of the matter lies.

Early in part 1, it shows a depiction of 1st century Christians going door-to-door with bags full of scrolls. Maybe ask him if that picture is historically accurate. See the following thread about it.

If I recall correctly, the first president was William Henry Conley. Why does the Watchtower not mention him?
