Serena thanks "Jehovah" after US Open...
by jack2 inserena williams, after winning the us open women's tennis championship tonight, thanked "jehovah" for blessing her family.
in the background were numerous us flags, and of course, prior to the match, the williams sisters were there and standing while various patriotic songs were played (oh, that's right....they were already standing since they had to walk out onto the court....guess that's okay).
while watching all that i could not help but think of all the jw youths who have been told that they could not particicpate in organized sports at school or otherwise.

Hockey ... why?
by kenpodragon inin my area hockey is mentioned and known so little, that you would be hard pressed to find any sports memorabilia.
none of the schools play it, and the nearest team is over 8 hours away.
the local news does not even broadcast the scores, and you would have a hard time finding one person in town who knows who the stanley cup was won by last year.

Most would ask first, "what is the Stanley Cup?"
So my question to you, why do you think Hockey is so big in certain parts of the country, and all but nothing in others. For example, Canada loves hockey! While Mexico only cares about soccer. Is it all just based on regions?
Just wondering

Legal question
by kenpodragon ini work in a business that sometimes has teenagers purchasing or renting items from us.
when they do so, we have to have a parent or legal guardian make the arrangements or sign any binding agreements.
if we didn't, nothing would be worth the paper it was written on, as people under 18 can not enter into a legal arrangement on their own.. .

I would still bet that someone where out there is a lawyer who would be willing to take this on.

I am not sure if you understood my question enough for me to understand yours.
My point is, could you say you entered into a agreement before you were old enough to understand the implications and thus over turn it. Thus, you would not be DF'ed ... sense your stand as a minor did not have legal standing?
As a added point ... it's a Ex-Jw site, can we not discuss points related to such? Also, I am not going to waste time calling around or checking the internet to prove a point like this, I know it ... so I will sit in the corner and feel real special that I knew something others didn't.
Just wondering

I agree ... I was just wondering if this was a loop hole. Basically saying, "I can not be DF'ed ... because I was never legally baptized"
Just wondering

Hostile treatment and harassment at work, is very illegal!!!!!!!!!!! You could sue if they did not settle it for you. I spent over three months settle up all the legal info for our company to follow. Trust me, if it happens ... do not put up with it!

It has happened all over the country. We even had a meeting as elders on how to treat people who got it reversed, how we should still see them as restricted ... even if the court over turned it. Just know this, a good lawyer can just about fight anything.

Disfellowshipping have been over turned in courts many times. We had it happen once in our local area.
